  Chad was great to work with, very friendly, and made the whole process getting my loan very easy. American Funding got me the best rate and closing cost around. I don't recommend Rocket Mortgage, they were the highest in closing costs, and the guy who I worked with was rude to me. That company wanted $14,900. in closing costs, go with American Funding, check them out, you'll find it worth your time for a comparison.

  Unreasonable demands for mid-period statements. First, statements for all accounts for pre-approval and again when a contract was put on the house. At no time did anyone tell me I'd have to produce more statements just days before closing, so I was unprepared. The 'rule' that all these statements produced by the companies involved that it be a PDF and with the URL on the bottom is insane. It left an extremely bad taste in my mouth, so consequently I would NEVER recommend NFA to anyone I cared about. Some companies would not support creating the statements, and only after I said the closing would have to be pushed back until the next month did someone magically mention AccountChek as a work around. I had asked, repeatedly, if all the paperwork needed was in their hands, and after all 'yes', I received a long list of things needed, and nearly all of them impossible to obtain due to the idiotic 'URL on the bottom' rule. It took me hours and hours and multiple phone calls to each company when I was supposed to be working. I was told if I didn't do it right away, closing would be delayed, and so I missed a work deadline and had to explain that to my boss and customer. The last 8 days before closing were a horrid experience I wouldn't wish on anyone, and some communication ahead of time (and no stupid URL rule) would have solved so many things. The rest of the process was OK, and I know I got a great deal on rates and $$ towards closing, but the last week is what will stick in my mind forever.

  Our loan officer was amazing. The reason we did not submit 5 stars was that we were transferred to a "Sr Loan Officer" during our process and he was a lot harder to get a hold of and seemed not as interested in our loan as Danielle was (she was amazing!)

  My loan officer was honest, patient and informative. The interest rate was fair and the process was smooth. I had tons of questions and never felt like I was being a bother. Instead, I felt like it was important to New American that I understand everything and feel comfortable with the process. I did.

  Prompt communication, and very smooth process. Initial conversation was on 8/16/21, and transfer of money for our cash-out refinance was on 9/17/21. Definitely exceeded my expectations for speed! This was also the best rate and terms I could find after filtering through _many_ lenders.

  Loan was well laid out. They gave us the best rate they could in the beginning. There was no negotiating terms or comparing rates with other institutions to get the better rate. Thank you. Any questions were answered on the spot. Valerie did a fantastic job keeping us informed on the steps and how things were transpiring. It was the first time we had done a loan in this manner. Traditionally we sat at a bank and walked through the steps in person. This was a new experience that was well laid out, fast and thoroughly done. I would recommend New American Funding to friends.
