When I purchased this item, I thought I was getting what was shown on the web page. Unfortunately, it was not what I was expecting, but a original for Sony owners. Other then that, I like windows 7 ultimate. It is what XP should have been. It runs faster and starts up a little faster. Waking it up does work faster with less problems. The new feature work well and certainly makes things easier. I have a single touch screen with does not work with the new programs which require double touch capabilities. Over all I like this upgrade and recommend it to anyone with XP.

I upgraded from Microsoft Vista professional to Windows 7 ultimate, because I was fed up with Vista losing my internet connection all the time.I did it as an install-over, not a ""clean installation"". I tried to avoid having to re-install all my programs, and it seems to be all good now.Installation was easy, no significant problems, and the system runs great now.

The upgrade was for me a good choice. Windows 7 is a stable operating system and should be around for quite some time. The product is well received, with strong sales. The 32-bit installation went smoothly, upgrading from Vista Ultimate. When I am convinced that my needed programs will run in the 64-bit environment I plan to install 2 GB of additional RAM and do the custom installation. Amazon promptly filled the order, saving me a few dollars as well.

This software brought to life many of the features of my computer that could not be utilized under XP. This did require updating the motherboard bios and chip firmware to the latest version which was easy enough to do. Overall the computer behaves much better under Win7 and I like many of the features Win7 has to offer.

I am often annoyed by both the expectation and the the promise of user friendliness in the world of technology but having used all of the Microsoft operating systems (for home users)from DOS to the current Windows 7, I must admit that Windows 7 comes as close to fulfilling that concept as has been offered. The only disappointments for many will be the additional hardware requirements and the inability to upgrade from XP, additionally many program and drivers that ran well under that OS (even some of Vistas) will have to be upgraded in order to run under Windows 7. If you can get past these inconveniences you will love Windows 7 unless you still believe in the tooth fairy and ""user friendliness""....

This Operating System (OS) software is the best that Microsoft developed. Many tools come with this OS for keeping my PC running smooth.Bit Locker is a great tool for protecting all of my data. The installation process was a breeze, upgrading from Windows XP was simple using Windows Easy Transfer of data and settings into this new software. Following the instructions from the Microsoft website is a must if anyone decides to upgrade their OS from Windows XP, Vista, or other Windows OS.

Windows 7 is less universal and more problematic than XP. Although it usually finds a way to diagnose a system problem and advise repairs, it contains IE 10 which disables itself if you install any other company's add on, sometimes with no failure analysis.Since XP is being abandoned by Microsoft, what choice do we have. The ultimate does upgrade from XP.

Run Windows upgrade advisor and follow the instructions to the letter. If told to remove software, run uninstall and get rid of it. Don't do this and you will be in the weeds and fast. System took about 3.5 hours to completely upgrade and it works fine. No complaints and no outstanding issues. This is the best OS system by Microsoft by far. Miss the Dreamscapes from Vista though.

This upgrade installed relatively easily and works well. The automatic backup prior to installing feature is possibly over-hyped and not as easy as they make it sound --- but it could be we did it wrong. But suffice to say it's not all that intuitive so approach with caution if you're relying on that feature alone to back up your stuff. Otherwise, do a thorough backup prior. It's a great time to clean out the garbage too!

I had Vista Ultimate for a number of years on my Dell XPS and it ran OK.Never had any real issues with it, I upgraded to W7 for two reasons: first I needed it to run the new Adobe suite and second, I was unable to properly backup my system either using Windows or the backup software supplied by my external device. It also ran slow and was sluggish. after I installed W7, SP1 and the 144 updates my system's performance was greatly enhanced, the GUI is ten times better and the system seems to be more stable.

Did an in place upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate and everything went surprisingly well. Loaded the disk, hit setup, upgrade, and waited for it to do its thing. The percent meter hung in a few places making me think that the install had failed- just let it run and the meter will start moving again. The whole process took around 2 hours not including all of the Microsoft updates that must be done after the upgrade is completed.

I upgraded my Lenovo X61 from Vista to Windows 7 (finally), and I find that my laptop is more responsive (faster at start-up, shut-off, etc.), and less prone to hang-ups. Vista used to take a very long time to install updates upon shut-down, but not so much now after the upgrade to Windows 7. Also installed Office 2010 upgrade of Office 2000 at the same time. A much better experience overall.

I finally switched from Vista 32 bit to 7 64 bit and everything is working dandy! I also upgraded my 4gb of ram to OCZ 4gb 1066mhz plus 2gb stock ram (6GB total) and everything runs so much smoother. You do have to have all your saved files backed up on a external drive and have all you discs to reinstall your programs such as office, photoshop... etc.I figure thats no biggy. The main purpose I upgrades was not for gaming or video stuff. I upgraded to see if my DJ controller or future equipment can run properly on this type of setup. I figure I spend under $300 (4gb ram included), get an upgraded machine with the specs you can get a current laptop now a days. That way I don't waste all that money on a PC laptop and have to buy a $50,000 mac. I would like to report it runs with no hiccups! With the 32 bit system I was over the required min to run Serato Itch and my controller but I constantly had usb drop offs and/or had the unit crash. Now no drop offs, no crashes and no pausing while scratching. That extra ram does wonders and I will be upgrading to 8gb very soon.Startup and shutdown times are cut by at least half.Oh yeah and new features a pretty cool.Bottom line is Windows 7 64 bit is very stable and I am very happy with my purchase.

Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade was bought because the school needed Windows 7 Enterprise EQUIVALENT software. Seeing as how one $220 copy of Windows 7 was going to outdistance an $2000 a year at minimum Software Assurance contract, I bought this for a laptop that was at one time (but NOT now) the third most powerful Windows 7 machine in the house. The MacBook Pro went for a variety of reasons (mostly relating to overheating running multiple things it should have been OH SO EASILY capable of), but the eMachines W3622 I had gotten for Christmas obliged me by running Windows 7 with Aero, thus allowing me to accomplish a Windows 7 general availabilty long goal of having three Windows 7 running computers. Now granted, the best Windows 7 machine is also a Mac, running Snow Leopard in addition to Windows 7 Ultimate, and due to needs to keep it running only runs Windows 7 Ultimate RTM-Lion and Mountain Lion would over-stress it, and that we cannot allow, thus meaning that we have to run the RTM Windows 7 on it, but this laptop has exceeded my expectations with Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 upgrade. Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 upgrade upgrades Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 or SP2 directly, but since we had been loaning out the laptop, we decided to do the clean install and do not regret it, except for some user error on my part (forgot to save something important mainly.)I never had a problem with Windows Vista Home Premium, but Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate on machines that support Aero is really a treat, giving the user the ultimate in compatibility, capability, and flexibility. Windows 8 I keep hearing won't even begin to compare, the least of which reasons is when clicking on the Desktop tile you don't get the fine grained system control Windows 7 gives.I always say I want my desktop OS choices to be the best they can be for the desktops, and the mobile OS choices best for and on my PDAs, smartphones, and tablets-unless I have enough extra money to buy a Windows 7 tablet, in which case I view it as an alternative option to a traditional clamshell laptop or netbook.I want Windows 7, because Microsoft's marketing was proved true from my experiences with the release candidate all the way to fully updated Windows 7 RTM and SP1 today. Windows 8 seems like a giant step backwards, one which I do not appreciate.5 stars, even with SP1. Without it it's 10 stars. (I happen to know what the RTM was like, and it was awesome.)Update 1-17-2013: I will be updating all of the reviews for all of the Windows 7 installers I have on tap to reflect a certain difference betweem me and the average reviewer:I to date have done all of my installs (whether of Ultimate Full Purchase Product, Ultimate Upgrade, Professional Upgrade through the Windows 7 Student Offer, Home Premium Upgrade, or Home Premium Upgrade Family Pack) through the clean install method and it never fails to grab all of the updates, update to SP1, and then grab the missing post-SP1 updates.I therefore believe that the people who can't fully update Windows didn't do the clean install method, and while I don't blame them, I don't have the time personally for a system that behaves strangely because Windows Vista was trying to be transmuted into Windows 7, when it's hard enough for one service pack of Windows 7 to be successfully transmuted into another.I hope that if you are blaming Windows 7 for your issues when upgrading from Vista, that this advice can be of use.Update 2-3-2014:Windows 7 is a good OS for those people who don't want a Mac but don't want Windows 8 either. It does do Classic appearance differently from Windows Vista and earlier, instead using the square buttons even in Classic appearance, but that's OK, because I dreamed of an OS with this functionality in the taskbar since Windows 95. And the redesigned taskbar is even in Windows 7 Home Premium. Sure you may lose some of the features in the Ultimate Edition, but you get everything you absolutely have to have-although Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade is no longer available to Windows 7 users, so buying the right edition of Windows 7 is extra-crucial. If you buy Windows 7 Home Premium and later find out you need XP Mode, you're going to have to sell your copy of Home Premium (assuming you're using the retail copy) and replace it with a retail copy of Ultimate or Professional.Windows XP may have been great in 2001, but Windows 7 is as close to XP as you can make Vista-and has proven worthwhile ever since 2009.For further proof, look at how Microsoft released Internet Explorer 10 and 11 for Windows 7, they sure didn't have to do that. But they realized Windows 7 was still popular (so popular I have 7 copies of it, including a Family Pack of Home Premium) and so they released as many of their updated components as they could for Windows 7 without totally making Windows 8/8.1 a non-issue.End Update 2-3-2014Update 2-27-2014:As posted on my Windows 7 Ultimate Full Install and Windows 7 Professional Upgrade pages, I had a desktop with OEM Windows 7 Home Premium that I hedged my bets with by assigning it a dispensation from my Windows 7 Home Premium Family Pack, and up until a few days ago I didn't have legal Office to go along with the retail Windows 7 Upgrade install. So I was considering my options but the reviews on Windows 8, even from those who rated it highly, indicated that you might have issues and I didn't need issues, I needed software that would approach the ""just works"" of the Classic Mac OS. So I sat there, installed Office 2003 off of a spare copy I picked up, and then suddenly I was set. I had no reason to consider Windows 8 for this Windows 7 OEM PC any further, and so I set up the second 1TB hard drive to backup this copy of Windows 7 as well as Windows 7 Ultimate Full Install and Windows 7 Professional Upgrade and it went so smoothly. I am thrilled that I have a supported way out of the backup dilemma, compared to buying OEM Windows Home Server 2011 and losing use of the PC as a general-purpose desktop.Needless to say, I got everything I wanted out of Windows 7 Ultimate (both copies) and Professional, and I'm happy.End Update 2-27-2014Update 9-16-2013 (Critical Windows 9 Status Update):Well, consider what I uncovered about the supposedly awesome Windows 9, that's supposed to ""replace"" 7:I also heard that Windows 9 may look like Windows 7, but this mini-start menu (based on a Microsoft press photo) has Live Tiles where links to local computer items once stood in 7. Plus Aero is still out for lunch (defenders say skeumorphism is dead, I say long live skeumorphism!), and Microsoft ties your activation to the Windows Store, so that means that they have a much more swift and sure means of sending your computer into reduced functionality mode even if you have a truly legal key!I want my computer being rendered illegal for a good reason (at least not for something trivial like Windows 9 allows for), not because I didn't buy enough apps from the Windows Store in a given day, week, month, or year. How are you supposed to use the Metro-limited Windows 9 when not using Metro apps early and often could be grounds for your computer to be rendered illegal according to Microsoft? In effect, they've made Metro mandatory and inaccessible, rather than optional (from the ability to legally use Windows point of view, not from the it's in your face while you're using it point of view) and far too readily accessible?I'd rather have a minor bug, as critical as the bug in question may be to the use of the computer, in the form of bad UI, than a horrible show-stopping bug that makes Windows 8's UI crimes (awful as they might have been) seem minor!I love that they're bringing back the Start button, but what they really needed to do was scrap the Windows Store and modern apps. Not make your computer depend on them but be unable to use them because it's a desktop (known as Win32) SKU. I'm sticking with Windows 7 and as soon as it's toast no more Internet for me. I would suggest you do the same.End Update 9-16-2014 (Critical Windows 9 Status Update)Update 1-14-2015:I am recently availing myself of the opportunity to tear Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade 64-bit with SP1 on hardware that was midrange for 2011 by complementing my Sandy Bridge desktop with a laptop, I have to say even with all of the Windows 8 features that were loaded into Windows 7 to make up for the fact that people didn't automatically do whatever it took to go to Windows 8, it still feels so much more like Windows 7 than Lion does (the equivalent Mac OS X version) when you install all the updates, and is a key reason why I gave up my Intel iMac for a newer if lower-end PC laptop, because I wanted to be able to update my OS and have it still feel like the stock version. Apple wouldn't give me that, so I went to Windows 7,After I uninstalled a duplicate of an update that was part of Internet Explorer 11, Windows 7 installed and updated with the greatest of ease, and it provides me with a better experience than Lion or Yosemite on contemporary or newer Macs. Windows 7 may not have been perfect, but to me I couldn't tell the difference, and I'm using it on the best hardware I've ever used it on as proof.Windows 7 you definitely should get the Ultimate Edition of it if you can, because it's better than Windows 8 Pro with Media Center, I find it's better than Windows 8.1 or Windows 8.1 Update 1, and due to a desire to turn Windows 9 into another Windows 8 style flop (but this time with a Live Tile-encrusted Start menu) is going to keep me on Windows 7 unless I go Mac, and like I said Lion and X.10 Yosemite have failed with Safari 6 and later, due to a huge combination of factors.Get Windows 7 of Ultimate Edition and stick to it no matter what. I liked Windows 10 as of the Technical Preview Build 9879, but I so much won't like it as of RTM, and even as of the Technical Preview it would only be on a second hard disk opposite Windows 7, & only then if I could know I could readily go back and forth to Windows 7 for tasks I don't want to do on 8 and later, or especially Win 10 and later.End Update 1-14-2015

I had a laptop that came with Vista. I never liked the OS, although the laptop is awesome. Give me XP or better yet Windows 7 any day of the week. Recently I realized that with Windows 8 on the market (which I currently have no interest in) I'd better upgrade that Vista OS to Windows 7 while I still could purchase Windows 7. Also I could only upgrade to Windows Ultimate so I made the investment and wow! I love my old laptop all over again. Bye, bye Vista forever! Upgrade was smooth as silk. Be patient it takes time.

In February 2007, I made the mistake of buying a high end Dell computer with (the then brand new OS) Vista. There were bugs in these premiere versions of Vista that were never cured. I struggled through those early days, improvising on my own, because even Tech Support couldn't help me - no one knew how to deal with Vista. After the first six months or so, things quieted down and I got into a groove with it, but recently, I kept getting nightly notices of updates, which failed to load. It was annoying. Finally, my husband talked me into buying Windows 7 and I'm so glad I did. What a relief. I haven't even done the tutorials yet, and I think this is a nice looking, quick program, totally intuitive, and easily digestible. I don't know what took me so long, but I'm really glad I made the switch. The crossover install from Vista to W7 took several hours, but it was worth it. No loss of data or blinks in my system. My computer seems to love it as much as I do.

So far, I'm loving the upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate!! I upgraded from Windows XP Professional and only Passport 9 won't install properly. All of my other programs installed just fine.I had a problem getting the installation to accept/recognize my product-key, so I called tech support and was advised the custom installation method only accepted keys for a full-installation. The tech guy walked me through a process that took less than 10 minutes, resulting in a successful installation. My system does seem to be running faster and I'll probably buy a USB drive so I can boost the virtual memory/performance.I think I'm going to enjoy this OS as much as, if not more than, I enjoyed XP Professional.

I ordered this Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade on May 19, a Sunday. It showed several in stock when I placed my order and it indicated that my order would be delivered between May 24 and May 30 (I had selected the free shipping since it was an in-state delivery). The order didn't actually ship until May 27, leaving out the possibility of a May 24 delivery. Even though delivery was made within the window originally given, the fact that it took 8 days to actually ship it when the product was on the shelf when I ordered it is unacceptable. The product itself is exactly as advertised and exactly what I wanted. I pulled the CD out of the box, upgraded my computer and using the product key that came in the box I was able to activate through Microsoft.

As has been mentioned in other reviews, if going from XP to Win 7, it will only do a clean install. So you WILL be doing reinstalls of your software. However, if you pull the Windows Easy Transfer application from Microsoft to your XP installation before doing the change in OS, it will allow you to restore your profiles, music, documents, etc with very little trouble. The transfer program tells you to use an external drive. They really mean any drive that your OS is not going to be installed on. I used my internal secondary for the transfer file and it worked flawlessly.Be forewarned, the Win 7 install on this version does have a point where you will start to wonder if it has failed or not. On my system it appeared to hang on ""Finishing Installation"". It actually had not hung. Just go find something else to do (since it was late, I just went to bed and left it) for a while and it will be on the regional settings later. So far, stability is excellent and the performance of my computer is actually better than it was on XP64. That could be considered a little odd since I have a seven year old Q6600 processor running this thing. Of course with 8gb of ram, that no doubt helps greatly.

I gave a 5 star rating because from my perspective it is the best operating system Microsoft has come out with. This is based experience with Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, XP and Vista. On my system it replaced Vista Ultimate. It takes up less space and works well with other products such as Nero. I Like the video editing functions of Nero but was unable to find a version that worked problem free with the Vista system. My computer use is mostly just E-mail, word processing, some home video editing and a chess game now and then. For these activities Windows 7 Ultimate has been problem free. I believe it is faster than Vista but have not ran any tests to verify that. I would recommend the product to anyone looking for a problem free operating system. Installation was easy. I have no negative information I wish to pass on.

I have a 9yr old Dell 4600. It was purchased with the hope that it would last a long time. It has a 2Ghz Pentium 4 and a video card that supported DirectX 9. I upgraded the RAM to 2 Gig and the hardrive for more space. Last year I was about done with this computer. All the Windows XP updates that were installed made the startup painfully slow. The programs were unreliable and I didn't even want to use this computer anymore. I had installed PCTools virus, spyware and Registry Mechanic. I tried everything possible to make this computer run better. Installing Windows 7 was a last effort to salvage this computer. According to the Windows Upgrade Advisor my system was the absolute minimum configuration with any hopes of running Windows 7, I upgraded anyway. I couldn't be happier! I installed the upgrade and then downloaded and installed all the patches, which made me gringe knowing what XP updates did to my computer. I installed Service Pack1 and the updates that came after that. It took me quite some time to get the OS fully updated. Much to my surprise Microsoft changed the way updates load. It seemed to me they used to place the updates on the computer and they reloaded each time the computer starts. It would appear, now the updates are incorporated into the OS and loads with it. My startup takes about 2 minutes now and that includes wireless, printing and gadgets! I'm happy to be using my computer again. I'm looking forward to more products written for Windows 7. I just hope I can afford them)

For many years, due to business constraints, I was unable to upgrade to Windows 7. I'm glad I waited because I was able to review a lot of comments about the different Windows 7 versions. I went with the MS Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade - I notice that the box I received did not say I could upgrade from Windows XP to 7, but when I read the support notes at microsoft.com it explained a lot. I decided to upgrade when I was having a problem with my operating system, so it was time.Very very important things to do before you upgrade from Windows XP/Vista to any version of Windows 7:1) unless you purchase a professional data moving software (i.e. PC Mover) you will have to reinstall ALL of your software, including other Microsoft products.2) you need to download the upgrade adviser from Microsoft - this is a handy tool that looks at your current system and tells you what will work and what won't in Windows 7 - in my case, the results included customized links to sites where I needed to download software updates/updated drivers.3) Back up every bit of data you don't want to lose. If you are not in the habit of filing you data in an orderly fashion, this may take weeks. You need to put all your data on either a flash drive or an external drive (depending on how much data you have)4) If you have your software CDs, updates, and backup data ready, the EASIEST way to install Windows 7 is to just install it on a clean drive. Second best is to upgrade on an existing Windows XP (SP3)/Vista installation. When I installed Windows 7 on my XP/SP3 machine, Windows automatically saved my old operating system so that I could access settings/drivers/etc in the event that something might not work in Windows7.As soon as Windows 7 32 bit installed, I went to the Windows 7 64-bit because the m/b wasn't seeing the full 8GB RAM (you can find this in both the BIOS and the My Computer main window tab).I have had to do some additional searching for drivers and updates but I currently have a 1996 NEC Superscript printer WORKING on Windows 7 64 bit, as well as older software such as Adobe Acrobat Professional. I have one device that I am still working on the drivers for - however, the nice thing about Windows 7 Ultimate (also Professional and Enterprise versions) is that I can always use the device through the Windows XP Mode option. Windows 7 Ultimate is worth the extra price and as hesitant as I was to upgrade, this is a solid piece of software.

I Upgraded My PC Computer from Windows Vista Ultimate 64Bit, to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit! It took Me about 8 Hours to Upgrade, and then another 8 Hours to Update Windows 7! Could not transfer Windows Mail from Windows Vista, so I installed Windows Live Mail after Windows 7 Upgrade! Just be sure before you Upgrade to do a Custom Complete Scan your PC Computer to check for Viruses and Malware, and if you find any than clean them off your Hard Disk before the Upgrade, and then Defrag your PC, or else you could have problems with the Upgrade to Windows 7. Windows 7 seems to also work a lot faster and better than Windows Vista, and I was surprised to find that out! Anyway, also run that Windows 7 check Software Program first (Download it from Microsoft Web Site), to see if any Programs on your Hard Drive are not compatible with Windows 7, and have to be removed first from your Hard Drive Disk! Other wise Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit Upgrade Software seems to be working on My PC Computer just fine, and it Defrag Program is much better than that on Windows Vista! That is about it!

(Please see below for my computer configuration.)The upgrade installation over existing Vista Ultimate was a breeze. The compatability program started and warned me that before installation could proceed, one program would not work and needed to be unistalled, (ex Alcohol 120%) and that a couple of print drivers wouldn't work, (must not have had the certified drivers on file: ex HiTi 4x6 photo printer). I unistalled the program and away it went (after restart). No hicups. Note: I am using Norton 360 and 7 preserved all my security settings. Subsequent to the install of Windows 7, I found the necessary drives for the unlisted printers and Windows 7 had no problems with them. The first thing I noticed was that Windows started faster, alot faster (1/3 the speed it took Vista to load), and that IE9 is now lightning fast, (instantaneous), as it should have been considering my ISP is Verizon high speed FIOS, (FIOS is available in several up/download speeds and I am currently paying for 35/35 mbs). Of all the reasons to upgrade, speed was my primary concern and so far Windows 7 has delivered.Functionality is always a learning experience for me with any new OS so I expected the same with Windows 7. It will take me a long time to start using many of the new features in Windows 7 but if you like what you see in all the hype then all the more reason to upgrade.Networking was such a non-issue that I almost forgot to mention it. I have three PCs, two wired running through a multi port switch (Windows 7 and an XP PC), and one wireless (notebook running Vista Ultimate) picked up by the Verizon wired/wireless router. In addition, I have one networked Xerox printer, and two other printers installed on the PC running the new Windows 7. Finally, I have a NAS device, (d-Link), attached of course directly to the switch. NO problems recognizing anything. No settings needed to be changed.I have had one crash running MS Office 2003 specifically Outlook but I was having problems with Outlook before the install. Haven't figured this one out yet....may have to upgrade to 2010, which is already on the notebook, if only to prevent confusion running the two formats.I haven't had it long, but bassed on the install and innitial performace improvements, I have only good things to say about Windows 7.{OH! If you liked Dream Scenes, then visit Stardock and check out their DeskScapes software. I was running it in Vista Ultimate and it Is compatible with Windows 7. It'll cost you somewhere in the range of $20-$30 for a year of unlimited downloads and subsequent yrs cost between $8 and $10.}Computer:i7 9206 gb ramnVidia GTX 295gigabit ethernet3 500mb RE4 hardrives in RAID 5 configuration.

After experiencing XP and VISTA, 7 was rather refreshing. XP didn't really take off until the 2nd service pack and VISTA was a total loss. When I upgraded to 7 Ultimate, the pieces seemed to fall into place, albeit rather slowly. Now it seems to be functioning as well as I had expected my previous Operating Systems to perform.I can recommend 7 for those who are looking for something beyond the mundane in OS performance.

I have to admit after reading the previous reviews of this I was a little sceptical to say the least. But go for it I did and within a few days it landed on the mat. The CD came well packaged and in a sealed envelope, the CD key was stuck to the envelope which started to raise a few suspicions but I wasn't put off yet. I installed the CD and the process went pretty smoothly and uneventful, the only issue albeit a small one was the online activation didn't work but one very easy phone call and it was all done. I would definitely buy from this supplier again, you can't beat go far wrong at this price for Windows software.

Great product.Update:The online registration did not work, and after 30days I needed to remove the network cable to force a telephone install (option only appears if you have no internet connection) as despite updating the serial number it refused to activate online). Called the phone activation line and the serial unlocked fine, but heart in mouth moment as would have stopped working today if it had failed!I would strongly recommend doing the phone activation the day you install the product to be sure of no future issues or scares.Otherwise product works great, and very happy with everything. Needed to upgrade from Vista on a Dell xps430 to be able to run certain Adobe products. Couldn't believe how cheap this was and was really dubious about it in all honesty. They always say there is no such thing as a real bargain! But the reviews on here reassured me and I took the plunge...I ordered through First Class IT Services who despatched it the same day by RM Signed For. I received it the next morning and W7 was installed (and updated) that day by 4pm without a hitch. Had to be a clean install but I had all my files saved on separate partitions so that was all safe.I have yet to be asked for the product key but as I have a Dell this may not be necessary (or perhaps it registers automatically).I probably don't need to comment too much on W7 as a product. I've been running it on my laptop for a few years and am very happy with it. Needless to say it's a breath of fresh air after Vista and a more robust version of Windows that W8 :)

I had a number of Windows XP Virtual PC's that I used for various tasks where I needed to use windows software (I use Linux primarily). I was concerned about retaining these past the 8th April deadline when Microsoft support ends but, I couldn't justify spending a lot of money on a newer version of Windows when I don't use it very often at all. Thanks to this supplier, I have been able to replace my Windows XP virtual computers with 1 Windows 7 machine that does everything that the other used to do, much more securely.I had no problems with installing the system and found it activated online with no problem - I did not need to activate by phone, like some of the other customers. Thanks very much. I had used this for a self build PC over a year ago and it was originally registered successfully by Microsoft. Imagine my disgust and horror to find out ( via them) that it wasn't legal after almost a year of intermittent use.As the OS was working correctly I only needed the Certificate of Authenticity to register it and everything was accepted. The replacement disc is there to use should it be required.
