  I came to Madison Avenue Cameras for advice regarding my first astrophotography camera: Sony a7R III Mirrorless camera. Without any expectation, they provided me with detailed and personalised advice that was extremely helpful. I ended up going for a different camers in the end, but with such fantastic and friendly customer service I would vouch very highly for this company.

  Took my years-old camera in with a hidden defect, Lumix g85. They were so helpful and spent at least 1 hour trying to fix it and did. So a big thank you and I will be in with a token of appreciation. Thank you so much! Never attempted to ripoff. Could not recommend them highly enough!

  Great customer service! We bought our camera here and were kept up to date with the status of our transaction and called when it was in stock (we were picking up). Were told to email them if we had any troubles as they wanted our introduction to aerial photography to go smoothly and I really appreciated that!

  Excellent service and very nice people to deal with.. Purchased mine a while back and very happy with the purchase after 6 years still.. would recommend anyone interested in purchasing pricey camera equipment.   Shopped at MAC twice now and on both occasions an Exelent service. Very flexible, accommodating and able to help over the phone or by email. My latest purchase was the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom - Drone Quadcopter UAV. A solid scope, beautifully made, and arrived within two days. Can't wait to try it out properly.

  Absolutely excellent customer support, the employees helped me with my purchase every step of the way. I 100% recommend Madison Avenue Cameras. I purchased a telescope with MAC using their online store, I was initially unsure as to which scope to buy so I sent an email with a basic idea of what i wanted. Within a day I received a reply with what they recommended within my budget, they didn't try to up sell me on anything and gave detailed reasons for the equipment they suggested. Once we had decided on the ideal scope for me they walked me through the finance options available and within a week I picked all of my equipment up.

  Excellent service, fast response to initial email enquiry, helpful on the phone, all items I required were in stock (Nikon COOLPIX P900 is nothing short of spectacular). Placed order online at 1.00pm, items were delivered 10.30am next day, tracked all the way. I have worked as a private investigator in New York, I love this place as a plentiful source of all the tools of trade I need. Very impressed and thoroughly recommended to private investigators.

  I have used Madison Avenue Cameras for many purchases including astronomy gear and lenses. I have always found there services, stock and pricing very competitive, and often the cheapest too which is great. Staff are always pleasant and very knowledgeable when asking questions. I have also had absolutely no problems with returns either when things havent always arrived as expected. I highly recommend Madison Avenue Cameras and have no hesitation using them for future purchases.

  Sweetest little spot with heavily equipped stock, too much to offer. I got useful help from the staff and I have decided that my next purchase will have to be a dedicated wedding camera - the ultimate question will be which one.   Fantastic telescope company, staff knowledgeable and gave me the advice I was looking for. I ordered a MEADE INSTRUMENT 1.25-INCH ZOOM EYEPIECE, it arrived the next morning. I would not hesitate to come back to Madison Avenue Cameras again and I WILL be buying my upgrade in the coming few months when it's time to upgrade my telescope. I must also say, their prices are very competitive and beat online sellers hands down! Don't hesitate to give these a call, discuss what it is you want, they will advise you perfectly.   These guys are stars on a stick, I needed a pair of Oberwerk 8x42 Sport ED Binoculars.   I phoned them and told them what i required. All was in stock. Underwater camera and tripod, lens holder and smartphone adaptor. Arranged for the goods to be delivered on a specific day. All the communication was good. Goods arrived on the correct day within the 1 hour time slot and all the goods were well packaged and arrived safe. Will definatly be using Madison Avenue Cameras in Manhattan again. I was very impressed overall. Thank you

  Beautiful piece of camera world with everything in their selection. The parking is on the street, but for this part of Manhattan you should expect that. The people behind the counter are very experienced and low key. There was no pushy behavior to purchase anything or to be upgraded during a purchase. There were numerous people working here so even though it was busy someone asked me if I needed help within a couple of minutes of browsing. Nice friendly people who work here and they did not talk down to beginner photographers. They also do prints here and passport photos. While I was there they were doing passport photos for a family with a small child and I observed they were super friendly and patient with the dignity of a small mind. (approximately 5 years old).

  The best camera shop in Manhattan 52nd Street none. The times I visited, the associates helped me pretty much the second I walked in the door. Never pushy, and always ready to answer questions or address any concerns, this is what a store should be.

  Came into the store to sell pieces of camera equipment. I traded in a few camers bodies and a Nikkor lenses. The prices were of course lower than I would have fetched online, but it saved me the trouble of posting online and dealing with all that. The sales associate and manager was very nice, patient and helpful. He answered a lot of questions I had.

  This is the place to go for your software questions and hardware needs. They have a great selection of cameras, lenses and other equipment, but the greater value is the knowledge of the staff. They will walk you through the ins and outs of general inquiries and also go the extra mile to educate you on more complex questions. Ronald helped us with how to use our Nikon camera to it's full potential (we are complete novices) and you can tell he is very passionate about his job and helping others. Overall, this is the place to go for camera and photography needs.

  I don't post much on FB or elsewhere but this business is worth it. I've shopped at here 4 times so far and have consistently received a friendly welcome and attentive service.   I came here rushing to resolve an emergency after a brief call. The gentleman assured me that they did, in fact, have lenses for rent and one that would match a 5D Mark III camera. I arrived in closing hours and the gentleman had the lens ready. I was surprised at how much top range cameras the shop had! I also had the opportunity to buy lighting the same evening. This comes in handy because I'm a humanitarian doing non-profit photography and video artwork. It's a game changer to have gear rental location close by which is convenient. The rented lens turned out to be a workhorse throughout the entire event, which was a bonus. These folks are top notch, personable and very much needed in our area. I highly recommend them!   Ultimately the best place ever, not only do they carry terrific camera gear, but also have exceptional customer service, renowned repair service, and exhaustive camera knowledge. I had some shreds from a splintered memory card hemmed in the impermeable depths of a camera and their repair technician were able to execute emergency operation to restore peak performance. 5 Stars!

  What a rich source for your photography needs - they have it all - cameras, lenses, accesdories, old school film, protective gear, they print, frame, shoot and take the time to educate their costumers on how to use it all. Through the years I've shopped there, used their services to clean my gear, exchanged or rented equipment and made several frames that are now hanging on my walls at home. Truly amazing place to do business with and just hang out at whenever one wants to be surrounded by artistic and friendly people. Luke and his crew are great professionals. Go there and you will not be looked down through the nose.

  I love Madison Avenue Camera! The staff are fantastic! When I began photography, I didn't know exactly what I needed. Sometimes you think you know what you need, but you're wrong. They gave me lots of advice and they knew exactly what I need. They don't recommend the high-priced equipment just so they can make extra money. Many times, I have asked about some expensive equipment, they tell me what I need, and their recommendations often cost much less than the things I thought I needed. They know exactly what works well with my camera or what would be the best equipment for my individual projects. Their prices are almost always lower than any of the online prices for the exact same brand-name equipment. They are happy to spend all the time I need, helping me get everything just right. I just can't say enough about how great they are. They only carry the best brands of professional-quality equipment, so I always know I'm getting the best! I wish I could give them 10 stars! They are really great, I highly recommend them.

  Absolutely the nicest camera store in town. It’s a family owned company so going to purchase certain things such as film will be a lot higher than shopping online, but it’s always great supporting small business. They still develop black and white film here, also!

  I have purchased at Madison Avenue Camera many times over the years. You might find a lower price on a camera elsewhere, but you won't get back-up service from those other guys. I would rather spend $50 more at this store than risk ripoff from other vendors. I can always get technical support with a phone call and I live many miles away. Highly recommend this store. Keep up the good work!

  Best of all camera shops with digital equipment. They also develop film and printing, 1/2 carries a used camera section, ancillary materials, the rest to bags, straps, lights, tri-mono-pods and darkroom equipment. They have a nice variety of used gear, and priced fairly. They have a few places they can send cameras for repair. The guy behind the reception is hospitable, knowledgeable and attentive. I will certainly try them for film in the future. I shoot and synthesize my own B&W film, but don't print any more though.

  Madison Avenue Camera are far much excellent, smart, friendly, resourceful who resolved my conundrums in a jiffy, not expected. That being said, I also had a long conversation over a $100 Madison special promo on a Lumix LX-5 system vs. Amazon's price. I bought a camera case and cleaner from them instead which had a much lower price tag. They have a great (large) array of cases, bags, and other accessories available in a multitudinous store. Check them out for those, for sure...but be wary of those expensive transactions.

  I've been going to Madison Camera for the past 5 years for all gear, from 35mm film, photo supplies to digital camera bodies and lenses. All transactions have been smoothened with the help of Luke.   I came to Madison's to pick out my first DSLR. I'm usually a digital shopper but with this purchase I wanted to be able to ask questions and get a feel for the variety of camera bodies. Top-quality choice deciding to hit Madison. LUCA was our salesman and he was great. He answered all our questions, made my feel comfortable and was very kind with us as we set up my first 'beginner' kit. I'd highly recommend these folks to anyone looking at a new DSLR, the staff is great and their prices are competitive too. We also plan to enroll in their classes starting next year. Thanks!

  I no longer venture anywhere else. If I need camera or lense, it's through Madison Avenue Cameras. If someone in my social network sends me an Amazon link, I send them to these guys. Besides supporting local businesses, this store staff is extremely knowledgeable, and I depend upon them for most of my photo questions. Last week, we bought all new video gear at the shop. They were super knowledgeable as we learned the nuts and bolts, and didn't herd us to a sale. We were comfortable in taking our time to pose the right decision, and the suggestions were much needed and appreciated. Thanks so much, Madison's!! Y'all are the best camera shop in the city.

  I have invested a lot of bucks in photography with Madison's stock for over 20 years. They have always gone above and beyond to make sure that I was happy with anything that I purchased there. Great service!! Luke is wonderful to work with!!! I have sent many items over the years in for repair through the NY shop and I have never had any issues. The films that I have generated there have always been top quality as well.

  Lucas was such a tremendous help the last couple weeks as I was setting up a piece of complex studio artwork. He and others in the staff really sifted through every detail with me and made sure everything I was ordering was exactly not only what I 'thought' I needed but 'really was' what I needed for me to get that job done. Lucas also was a great help getting technicals worked out. I will forever be loyal to Madison's and this crew. I've cemented a strong relationship with these folks and will never need to go anywhere else for camera equipment/concerns or needs. Thank you guys.

  I’m a photography student and I bought my first camera and equipment two years ago here. I have since moved to DC so when I called to see if they could help me out over the weekend, I was well prepared for them to say there was nothing they could do for me. I was pleasantly mistaken. The person I communicated with the most was an employee named Lucas who is a photographer himself. He found me a used camera that the store had in stock and leveled with me about what’s the best choice of equipment as a professional photographer with a college student budget. They carefully packaged my purchases so that my things arrived quickly and all in great condition. No matter where in the world my career as a photographer takes me, I will ALWAYS choose Madison Avenue Camera over all others because of their knowledge of the products they sell and their awesome customer service.

  I always try to support my local stores and encourage others to follow suit. I can’t say enough positive compliments about Madison Avenue Cameras. On more than one occasion, the staff at the NY store has come to my rescue when I needed equipment in an impromptu trip. If I have had any issues with Cameras, I always got quick resolution. Customer service is great. They have a rich selection of cameras and lens. If they don’t have it on hand, they can get it. For ancillary supplies, I prefer Arca Swiss hardware and would want to buy from them than order online. They said in the future it s a possibility they will Stock it in their store. I would rather buy at brick place and have a person to help me face to face should I have questions.

  Excellent camera solutions and knowledgeable staff. In the days of shopping everything online it's important to have a shop to go and see, pick it up and get a feel for a lens, glimpse through and take some experimental shots.   Lovely camera centre to upgrade gear, match lense, and solicit solid advice. Their products on display have a price tag to reduce haggling in the store.   I cannot sing enough praises about the wonderful customer service at Madison Avenue Cameras. It is the only place I choose to go for my photography and Videography needs. The staff are venerated for being knowledgeable, friendly and very on top of their game when it comes to knowing what gear might suit my needs depending on the situation . Whether it's an instock camera strap for $15 or a top dollar dslr for $3,000 the customer service is consistent and exceptional . This review is long over due .   The sales team and @ Madison Avenue, I worked specifically with Loius, he is SUPER helpful, smart, and generous. I own a photo lab business and I was having a connection issue syncing my camera with a MacBook air. They helped me isolate and solve the problem. The equipment I needed is a bit older so I wasn't able to make a purchase through them. They were still kind enough to still give me an excellent source where I could find it. They seemed motivated by something higher than money. This is service at its best.

  Madison Avenue is a great local resource for photographers: amateurs, pros and everyone in between. I traded in some equipment and they were extremely fair and up front and we got the whole transaction done quickly. The transaction also matched the big box NY photo stores without the hassle. Service is always helpful though sometimes you may have to wait. The store was decked out and it's neat and well stocked. This is not the dusty, unorganized photo store you may have seen elsewhere. They carry a ton of brands and can help you find the right equipment, if it's not in stock they can usually get it in two days. Buy local!

  Sensational experience. My first time here, I bought a CPL that snugly fit Nikon kit lens. Saw lots of stuff I wanted. Salesman wasn't pushy, just showed me what I asked for and then let me buy what I wanted with a request for repeat service. Costs a bit more than Amazon but worth it to talk shop to a real person.

  In my humble opinion, this is the best & largest photo retailer in NYC. They vary knowledgable of all makes and models. I needed some filters for my Nikon / 77mm and they had an ample amount. If they were not around, I would have to go to Brooklyn...They also assisted me, with obtaining a tripod component for my long lens plus an additional battery. I'm a wildlife photographer, covering the South, I especially like to go to the Grand Canyon, been to hundreds of camera retailers but only Madison Avenue gets my 5 star rating...

  I bumped into the store in a hunt for a wide-angle lens for a Canon Rebel t3i. Russell, a sales gave me personable services and I ostensibly had three different options. I have experience in mounted lens lineup but a 10-18mm stand alone lens stood out glaringly. He also suggested an pretty good mix of cheaper options as he is used to tourists coming in and requesting cheap lenses which they can use while they are in New York. I heard the prices on each lens and combed the streets including Adorama where I made the same requests. The people working in Adorama stores were nice but knew very little about cameras and didn't have more than one option to offer. The price of the one option they offered was much higher than the same mounted lens cost at Madison Avenue Cameras Inc. No competition. When I accessorize my camera, I want to support a local business where the workers in the shop know their stuff.

  I can't say enough good things about this store. I recently visited after my UV filter broke, I wasn't able to get off the lens on our own. The technician surprisingly pulled this off for free, the filter was detached and the lens left intact. Very much indebted and will definitely be returning. Heartily recommended!

  The salesman, Russell, has sold me a HD3 .48X wide angle lens with macro that was worth $100, and when we checked on it online and stark against camera stores in NYC it was really only worth $3 shy of $100 at the cheapest places and he agree to sell it to us for $100. He definitely rendered honest advice and guidance. There is definitely a whole variety of similar objectives that cost less however not with the same quality and performance. The exact one I purchased sells on amazon for much more, however if you are not pleased with your purchase please contact them. They will be more than happy to take it back, exchange it, etc. Madison Avenue Cameras' goal is happy customers.

  Madison Avenue Camera is the best of New York's photographic store and photo labs. They carry an excellent assortment of equipment and supplies. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable a custodian of all aspects to improve photography. On 3rd January 2020 I was in there needing help to hammer out a laborious and sophisticated purchase order, and employee Russell took care and time to help walk me through the whole thing. The quality of their cameras is outstanding, from Canon to Nikon and Sony, and more. Prices are competitive, service is fast, and my only complaint is that they don't have more locations in other parts of the state. I've driven many miles to get a Nikon D850 and it's the most beautiful piece of equipment I own. I recommend this store for all of one's camera needs (if they don't have something you need they will order it) and highly endorse the quality of their customer services. If you can't get to the store they will ship your order to you. I find their quality and assistance well worth the drive.

  I have nothing but positive things to say about this camera heaven. I have rented from them many times, and I feel the prices are reasonable for the gear. I have also purchased a camera and lens through them which arrived pretty fast in my opinion. Every one seems knowledgeable and friendly from my experiences. I have not tried out their printing services yet, but I love the products available for print.

  Exquisite customer handling against haggling, friendly service. The staff was nice and helpful and didn't try to trot out to me on stuff I didn't need. Walked out with exactly what I needed to get the job done. Good selection of product.   Russell and his crew are awesome. For a small camera shop in the middle of a bustling life city, they really do a good job balancing their stock for first timers with the rare piece for more top brass photographers. They have everything (it's an ocean of photographic tech in a galaxy of electronics shopping). They have the essentials plus some rather surprising pieces you may not be able to leave without purchasing. Service is excellent. They've been here for almost 5 decades+... And it ain't no accident. You just have to respect that.

  Glad there is a store in New York to provide needed gear for photographers. We stopped in looking for a camera strap for my compact mirrorless camera that I got for my birthday and brought on the trip. I was surprised to see that they carried no-frill model products steeped in authentic DNA and I found just what I was looking for. I was also pleasantly surprised the prices were very fairly computed!! I would recommend stopping in for all your photography needs. You may order online and have a transparent return inwards policy.

  I've been coming here since I found out about it early this year, I'm a beginner in photography and the staff was able to show me what tweakings I needed for my camera on for what I was doing, they had used lenses for micro photography I bought one, used color filters, which I bought some, they do know their stuff! Everytime I've had a question or needed anything they've been able to help me! These guys definitely know what they're doing, there's a reason they've been in business for as long as they have! They know cameras, film and digital, they have hard to find items, new and used, make your own opinion of this place by going in and seeing them for your camera needs, because Adorama sure won't have the knowledge to help!

  Hands down my favorite photography store in Manhattan! Pretty nice assortment of new, used, and vintage equipment. Lens, cameras, film, accessories...huge selection. By far my favorite thing about this store is the helpfulness and friendliness of the the staff. Always courteous with answering my questions regardless of how basic or technical. When I asked for advice for Polaroids/instant cameras for my daughter they gave me the best advice even though it led me to buy a product from another store. Always respect a merchant with integrity.

  Terrifically, what an exclusive camera store. So many fun products and an amazingly helpful staff. The guy helping us wasn't pushy at all and genuinely helped us digital nerds figure out some film savvy stuff with no condescending tones or pushy salesman behavior at all. We got a cap for my lense, reflector and light meter (that he even taught us how to use) all for a great price. Definitely recommend this place! A++

  The nicest dedicated camera store I've ever been to. Coming from Arizona my only experience in buying cameras was from BestBuy which was honestly terrible. I was very happy to see that they have a very strong business in selling 35mm and medium format film and film cameras. I'm sure there are other places like this in the country but this place to me is the Garden of Eden for everything related to photography. I could spend hours in this store just browsing through the merchandise. Some of the employees like to act like know-it-all's but that doesn't bother me as much as it does other people. If you know what you're looking for then this place is the only one you need to go to.

  Nice place, broad variety of cameras, backpacks, lens, photo paper, camera mounts and more. I gave them five stars because it is a reliable, yields key insights and treats me with dignity.
