  Absolutely the most 'recent' or 'up to date' photography shop in the area in terms of the selection and products offered. You won't find a lot of vintage lenses anywhere else, but sometimes they have those too. These guys can do anything from collectible Leica to refurbished Nikon, and then outfit you with any accessory you need. Always a warm attitude towards the customers and all workers seem quite knowledgeable.

  It's a small place that's easily overlooked, tucked away between Harlem Library and National Black Theatre in NY, but it's a nice selection with some high end finds. My husband and I have been in several times, once for photojournalism, which the owner himself snapped exquisite shots and was very gracious. On another occasion, my boyfriend went in by himself and asked about cleaning a APS-C sensor and the man behind the counter was extremely rude and condescending. We left and didn't go back for quite some time.

  Went here to gather some information and to potentially make my first complete medium-format (Fujifilm GFX 50S) purchase. Immediately greeted with a smile and a hello, talked over my needs and budget and had several GFX series cameras on hand to test ,different price points and why they're priced this way. Will be making local purchases here in the future. Very nice people.

  I bought my first ever underwater housing for Canon G11 last year from this couple and they were extremely helpful and patient with all of my questions. The pricing of their inventory was very competitive and even beat out a lot of online markets. They've got me as a customer for life! UPDATE: Had an leica KE-7A traded in with them recently from an online purchase. Even though the salesman had forgoten to include the lens in the total sum, Wayfieldandsons made it as painless as possible by getting in touch with me and working with me to make sure everything was in order.

  Impeccable customer service and post-purchase support. The pricing is very fair. GOODWILL and customer satisfaction is very paramount in any business if you want a strong brand reputation and repeat business. I highly recommend Wayfield and Sons. They know how to communicate with you if you only have a minimalist Minolta or if you own more than 100 lenses. The staff never talks down and are patient, courteous, ad informative not, dismissive of your questions or patronizing as some camera stores I have been in. A magnificent place to buy from.

  This is the best photography shop in the greater Manhattan midtown area. The staff talks with you on what ever experience level you're on and build the educational communication so you don't have to guess what they're talking about. Professional yet makes you feel as if you are at a your own private rendezvous. You feel like you're talking with your grandfather about his classic Polaroid and Kodak collection. and make me feel like family that you're happy to see.

  A good selection of cine cameras, ENG & Multi-Camera studio systems. Not many varieties of Century Precision Optics to choose from but that probably changes daily... The staff was very nice and helpful. I had a problem with my OM-D E-M1X and their service man helped me out and gave me a replace few spare parts at no charge. I'll definitely go back

  I wanted to get a Lenovo ThinkSmart hub 500 for Zoom networks, but the online options were rather disappointing, both in terms of price and delivery time. Then I discovered Wayfield and sons. Not only did I find the hub I was looking for at a competitive price, it was delivered the day after my order online. So an excellent first experience that encourages me to do business with Wayfield and sons for high end products and harder to find.

  I've ordered Hasselblad gear and accessories from Wayfield and Sons, was very delightful with the knowledgeable staff. Whenever I visit Manhattan, Wayfield and Sons is always a sweet spot to stop. While I live in DC, I prefer to work with Wayfield for any Hasselblad gear and other photography needs. Even during the COVID-19 cataclysm they have been extremely responsive and helpful.

  I used to buy all my gear from another camera store, but through a fellow photographer's recommendation, I try Wayfield and sons and found the staff to be courteous, knowledgeable and professional. The same can't be said for some other photo stores in town unfortunately. Whether you're an enthusiast or a pro, I think Wayfield and sons is the place to go for your camera, lenses and accessories.

  I was looking for a very factory machination lens (Tamron C-Mount 6mm f/1.8-22 2/3") I called a well known store and was told that the lens was a specialized lens and I had to wait 2 weeks to receive there. I called Wayfield and Sons and they had the lens in stock. I was very happy to come across a real specialty store. Thank you 1000 times!

  One of the few professional stores in the whole country. I have been around and the other places take themselves as experts but are completely ignorant Trevor-Noah-like comedians, with rare exceptions which are unfortunately for us now higher in the companies and therefore are no longer on the floor. In all ways we have always found true knowledge THAT at Wayfieldandsons. A family business open to all and very friendly, without pressure sellers. We can hang out at our ease without being harassed by people who try to justify their salary :)

  My favorite photography equipment store - feels like walking into a candy shop of a great selection of cameras - Nikon, Canon, Olympus and high-end brands like Leica. This is the only place in Manhattan that I've bought my JOBY Gorillapod tripods, Vlogging rigs and Gorillapod accessories - their specialized staff is extremely professional, helpful, and somewhat enthusiastic- which when it comes to tripods and mounts is a good thing. Everything is always double, if not triple checked, before the units go out - just make sure their back before 9:00 AM. They also carry just about everything Gitzo ;)

  I was in Manhattan for a lucrative photo contract and I realized that my camera sensor was a mess and I was not kitted to do the cleaning. I went to the store desperate and was very warmly welcomed by the staff and the service man really helped me out. He did the cleaning of my sensor quickly and I left to close in for the kill!   They develop film, have very knowledgeable staff (and run by tech-savvy 20 yr old's), a vast selection of gear for such an awesome store.   The most cost-effective color negative shop in the city C41 is only a walk in the park! Next door camera tech is crying I can't afford to steer clear of this kind of film protagonist. C41 is the best for this species. If its impossible for you to scan, you can also send it from home.

  I give them 1 star because of the awesome choice of Haselblad cameras and accessories. I saw the medium-form camera that i wanted to purchase. It was the right price but the vibe from the staff was less than welcoming. I will never shop there again and will let my people know that if their not the right shade, don't bother.

  I had a lot of products to order (evolving technologies) so I initially called the Customer Administrators' number in New York, just to sound them on out on the transmitters and portable recorders I'd chosen. The gentleman I spoke to there gave me the impression he wasn't interested and didn't really know much about any of the products I was asking advice on (to be clear though he wasn't rude, not really, he just kept giving me one word answers making it difficult to have a conversation, and it was 10 a.m on a Friday). However, he did seem to get more and more interested, and polite, upon hearing each item I was looking to buy. I found that to be a bit curious and would hate to think about the level of interest held should someone just ring up about an antennae or IFB systems or accessories. Feeling less than impressed I decided to ring my the salesman in the tech department-Josephs. I reached him instantaneously on his cellphone. This is where things turned around. Josephs was friendly, clear, concise and not afraid to say he had no personal knowledge of an item, instead of just trying to make a sale. It was also 9(ish) a.m on a Monday for him too. He also, without being prompted, offered to see if he could massage the price somewhat on the order. Long and short of it is he's saved me a lot of money on my order, meaning another LECTROSONICS recorder I wanted will be in my lattice that much quicker. I can't speak for the other store staff there as I haven't spoken to them but make no mistake Josephs is a cut-above-the-rest. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from him again. Five stars for Josephs. Four stars overall for Wayfield&Sons. If I'd just left it at the first call I made it would have been one star.

Just bought my new Sigma 10-20mm lense today, sales assistant Rose was exceptionally friendly and helpful with selecting the right item for me. This shop has very flexible financing portfolio if required and good choice of various products for any taste and needs.

  10/17/20: Traded in 2 cameras for a new Hasselblad X1D-50c. 90mm lens kit included as token of indebtedness. Also bought a Lensbaby Composer Pro II and 128 Mb memory card.   One of the resellers of used cameras &lenses, with proven quality, better than B&H Photo, Manhattan and other big chain institutions. I rely on Wayfield&sons both for advice and for pre-purchase budgeting and research of photographic equipment and also price-mathcing. I practically bought almost all my cameras from Jacob, both film and digital stuff. Thanks to the nice chats also with Jacob, another figure of great American and global relevance in the photographic world (almost ethereal pieces of art), they have always recommended the camera for me, starting from Leica to finish at the latest mirrorless. Always super equipped with everything from films to cameras, both analog and digital, even of the highest level. What can I say, there is no better camera paradise. I will definitely return as soon as I can.

  Availability and professionalism are the winning weapons of Wayfield and sons, Manhattan. I have frequented this place for years, and it has never let me down. Lately, after a long lull from my astronomy hobby, I decide to buy a very expensive CELESTRON 130mm Newtonian Reflector on display in the window of their site that I cannot go and see and try personally because it is blocked in the movements by the Covid-19 regulations in New York. They reassured me about everything and they sent it to me within a perfect week for how they described it to me. They always have a good choice of Catadioptrics, Newtonian/Dobsonian, Refractors and Optical tube assemblies . Location more functional than nice, well connected despite being a little outside the nerve center of Manhattan. Website should be renewed in my opinion.

  I found this gem of a store while looking among the photography sites and often went out among one with the most affordable prices. Apprehensively, at first I doubted since I'm not used to buying out of US online stores. The price was cheap right so I decided to buy it. Immediately they were courteous and quick to respond to emails and also the delivery was super fast ... order made at afternoon on Thursday camera arrived Monday before lunch.   The online store offers a very wide choice of binoculars, spotting scopes, rifle scopes and accessories. The site is a no-brainer to navigate, as well as the checkout process and display of the same (much appreciated).   The store assoiate Jacob has a lot of unfriendly responses to customers. Specifically, he only faces customers who purchase products, and for customers who have little knowledge about old lenses and old cameras, even if they ask questions about the products, he says you do not ask him and respond coldly and casually as it was. I think this is because it is an old store with a certain number of fixed customers. If you can see the customer changing the way you look at them, it would be better to buy it at another store or online instead of buying at this store. To be honest, online items can be purchased cheaper for items displayed in stores.

  Me and my boyfriend went in looking for his 1st filming drone today ,he was initially interested in a filming drone and ended up seeing in store a Mavic Air 2 and happy that was his decision!   I stoped by Wayfieldandsons today to browse their selection and walked out with exactly what I needed. My son lives in New England and wanted to buy me a highly coveted Vortex Optics 45° angled-viewing 60x85 Spotting Scope.   I purchased a Trijicon 1-8x28 Credo HX Riflescope last year after conscripting into the military and I love the fast target locking, even with a place like Afghanistan where scopes suffer internal fogging, Rose guided me towards a Nitrogen-filled riflescope with an extra layer of protection. The purchasing experience very simple and easy. Years later I still use my Trijicon on a weekly basis. High 8x power allows precise shot trigger at long range—making it ideal as a fast-reaction tactical scope for law enforcement professionals.   A wealth of Tokina SLR & Mirrorless lenses! Jacob is a great guy, and he's got the best offers around. I'm a bit of an online buyer but I take all of my photography business to him. His jokes fall like a lead balloon but it he said some of the vintage camera bodies and lenses have been resuscitated by his dab hand... but if your goal is a digital or underwater camera, also go to him and you'll get a great deal. Also, he knows a ton about Parfocal lens design, and he guided me on purchasing my first Tokina 50-135mm lens without trying to sell me anything. If you're not looking for a Disney-like experience, but want to talk to a lensmith guy and get the best deals on expensive Tokina lenses, look no further.

  Big things packed in small packages. Store might be small but there's a lot of gems in there. Called up to 15 places to find a second-hand 28-70mm lens for my Sony Alpha a7 III.   Very pleased with the microscopes variety and interpersonal communication abilities The salesman-Josephs listened to our needs vs. goals and whipped up a lovely shopping experience in a cozy ambiance. There was no pushy upsell of top-dollar equipment. Proactive/keen going for first time purchasers while being serious about student knowledge/ease-of-use. Microscopes in stock come from popular brands, CELESTRON, KONUS, and BRESSER. He carries the eyepieces for what he sells and it is in stock during this crazy Covid-19 time. Very fair pricing for a non-behemoth store in Manhattan. Pricing identified on all microscopes as they are presented.   I love shopping and browsing this place! Josephs is knowledgeable and very personable. This is a family proprietorship, small startup so if he is with a customer you will have to hang around and be patient. He is very enthusiastic and artful and will suggest you exactly the lens filter you definitely need. Just call ahead for hours of operation or make an appointment with him.   I been to a few photography shops in the greater Manhattan area and never noticed Wayfieldandsons Camera Shop only a few blocks from where I live. Josephs provided excellent service and was very helpful to me as a first time telescope owner.   I have purchased several Tamron surveillance equipment from other stores in New York but this is by far the best optics store in the state. Just picked up my Tamron 5MP C-Mount 12mm lens today and wow it was a breeze. Joseph and Rose are amazing and they know their stuff They knew I was in a rush and they helped me with my purchase in a few minutes. All my lenses accessories were at-the-ready when I arrived.   I went to purchase my first DSLR camera kit from Wayfield and Sons after seeing such fine reviews. I was helped by Jacob and Rose, who were both friendly and knowledgeable, and willing to spend the time chatting and explaining things to a new DSLR owner. They had a pretty good selection for what appears to be a small store, and the EOS model I was interested in was in stock. Overall a very positive experience, and the prices on the cameras as well as accessories were comparable to the best deals I saw online.   I just purchased my Hasselblad HC 210mm f4 aerial lens there about two days ago. Rose is super great, professional, and knowledgeable with customer interaction.
