  Chris did an amazing job leading our family of four through Seoul's main attractions. He was extremely knowledgeable about South Korea's history and culture. It was obvious how passionate Chris is about his country. Unlike the average tour guide, Chris truly "taught" our family about South Korea and we learned so many interesting and important things. We highly recommend him and know you will enjoy his tour. Chris has a great personal and is a great communicator. He was attentive and considerate.

  Karin our guide was an absolute gem. The tour she provided opened our eyes to the history of Berlin and beyond. She provided information we were not aware and took us places we would not have ventured into without her. Berlin is a beautiful city and Karin shared that beauty with us. Turned out to be a bit more than half day but well worth it. Thank you Karin!

  Our ToursByLocals guide Andrea organized a wonderful tour of Mt Etna for my family of four, incorporating a visit to my grandparents' towns of Giarre and Pennisi. Andrea is a warm & welcoming person with a vast knowledge of the geography & history of the Mt Etna region. He went above & beyond, communicating with me in advance to best plan our day and then maximizing our fun, learning, & interaction with locals during our tour. Andrea is a very special person with whom we hope to have another adventure when we return to Sicily.

  Our guide Paul was great! He did a terrific job getting us off our cruise and to the sites we had planned for the day, even though our ship was late getting into port. He had us kissing the Blarney Stone in 20 minutes, while the line was at 90 minutes by the time we finished, giving us plenty of time to explore the grounds. This is time we would not have had with a tour booked through our cruise ship. Then we were off to our Jameson tour! Highly recommend Paul.

  Superb tour with an expert and knowledgable guide. So pleased we found Michi and this wonderful website. Highly recommended. I cannot praise Michi enough.   David was a great guide, helpful with ideas, both for the tour and also for our wider travels in TLV/Israel. The tour around Jerusalem was excellent. David has encyclopaedic knowledge of the history of the city which ignited many memories of past ltexts we had read. David took a lot of trouble to understand what we wanted to get from our tour, tailoring the walk to cover the stories and the sites to fit. Finally huge thanks for his patience and going above and beyond when my wife had walking difficulty

  Our family of three had a wonderful time touring beautiful Busan with BeoDuel (Willow). We only had a limited time for the day and she was incredibly thoughtful and adaptive to traffic circumstances. We were able to see the wonderful highlights that would have been impossible on our own and she was able to share additional color and context that provided a valuable understanding and appreciation. Highly recommend her touring services.

  Anne Marie de Barro is a delightful tour guide in Malta. She certainly knows the area very well and we ran into her friends at every stop. She is a walking historian. She customized the tour for our family of 8 and happily made an unplanned stop for local food when my crew decided they were starving. She was able to avoid many of the crowds for a more pleasant experience. The van that drove us to each location was comfortable and air conditioned. I highly recommend this tour!!

  If we could give Darrin 5+ stars, we would. He was extremely timely with all communications, even though we were in very different time zones when planning. He took the time to listen to what we were interested in and made it happen! Not only that, he is full of all kinds of exciting information about the local animals, fauna, and anything!

  We had Jenny as our local guide, she was amazing! She took care of all the bookings and tickets for our trip from Nashville to Graceland/Memphis! She was very knowledgeable and accommodating to us. We had a late booking to Graceland and she accommodated us by a quick detour to Loretta Lynn’s Ranch.

  The tours by locals service was a great resource for my family on our first trip to Japan. We wanted to get some help from a local with excellent English and Japanese language skills to start us off on the right foot. We were able to book some very good guides early in the trip that we were able to ask many questions about food, transportation, customs and etiquette. Plus we were seeing interesting spots efficiently and given advice on other stops to see without the guides help. Another tool we used was the search feature to find a specific type of tour or guide. We wanted to go hiking in the mountains and were able to search the area and ‘hike’ and found a suitable guide to take us on a historical day hike on a 400 year old road with a 13th generation tea house stop that was amazing. Thanks Tours by Locals. We will definitely be using this service in the future and also sharing the experience with friends.

  Robbie was so incredibly kind and accommodating for our group that became larger than we expected. He was patient, funny, engaging, and we never felt rushed throughout the whole tour! He gave great insight to the LOTR movie and shared some very fun stories about his experience. If you are a movie lover - particularly LOTR, don't skip out on this tour! After 2 weeks in New Zealand and even visiting Hobbiton, everyone's favorite part was the Tour with Robbie. Thank you thank you thank you for everything!

  This was a breathtaking tour! Peter took us to some of the most fabulous locations in Cornwall related to the myth of King Arthur. We enjoyed every moment. He is knowledgeable, kind and with a very comfy car. Peter did everything to make our time in beautiful Cornwall unforgettable. Each place we visited was simply stunning. Highly recommended!

  Claudia gave us a fantastic tour of Palermo. Starting with a tour of the palace with its stunning chapel then in Tuk Tuks around other sights in the city and a stop for coffee/gelato. She made it fun with plenty of fun and interesting anecdotes. Highly recommended

  We toured with Christopher two days this last week and had a wonderful time. Christopher was very good about coordinating with us ahead of time and provided a wonderful tour. He also was very responsive to our need for special accommodations (I use a wheelchair) and tailored our tour in a way that was perfect for us. I highly recommend Christopher!

  Michael is the best guide one can imagine. Knowledgeable of Xi'an, especially all related to the terracotta army, attentive and super friendly, but also willing to help you if you are facing trouble. Michael's tour is engaging, fun and gives you a chance to really appreciate Chinese history. There is no-one better to show you the beauty of Xi'an than him.

  Greg picked up my family which included myself and my husband, my daughter and her husband, and my 2 granddaughters (age 12 & 14) in Anchorage at our hotel. He took us and 14 pieces of luggage to the port in Seward. We had a short tour of Anchorage and then we made a few stops along the way. Greg is personable, knowledgeable, and was great with the 3 generations that we were traveling with. It was such an enjoyable and informative way to get to the port. I would highly recommend Greg! He is great!

  I would have given Sherry 10 stars if I could!! This was one of the best excursions we went on during our entire trip in Alaska. Connecting with Sherry in Skagway was very easy and her van is very clean and comfortable. During the drive she uses a headset to give information and highlights along the way as well as stopping for the views. The dog sledding was GREAT with very few tourists so it didn't feel crowded and we were able to stay as long as we wanted. Sherry was FANTASTIC! Book a trip today!

  Very easy to use. We booked with tour guide for Cancun and Saul Cortez was excellent excellent!! I was called because I booked 2 tours on one day thinking I needed to do that to get full experience. ToursbyLocals were great and explained the 2 tours over the phone and I cancelled one of them. Very reliable and honest service. I would definitely use them again!

  Hanifi is an excellent guide. Our 3 days tour was well organized, we have seen all the important points of interest in Istanbul. He was not overwhelming with information - just enough to give us a sense of place and brief history, leaving room for us to appreciate the place. We also visited few not so known places giving us sense of normal non touristy Istanbul. His restaurant suggestions were also excellent. Highly recommend Hanifi for anybody interested in boarder view of Istanbul and its history.

  Marie picked us up at our hotel on time and we started our wine adventure. We toured 2 wineries we would never have known about without her. Both used different wine making methods but were excellent to drink. She took us to a delicious restaurant at the top of Chateauneuf du Pope with an amazing view. After we went to an excellent tasting run by a sommelier with offerings from small wineries. We were thrilled to learn everyplace we visited would ship to us in the USA & placed orders from each place!

  Olivier did an excellent job with our group of 4. He was on-time and we made all planned stops. It is very obvious that Olivier is passionate about wine, and he is continuing his education as well. We had the opportunity to visit and taste at 2 different wineries, and we did this in a very private (VIP?) fashion. The connections that Olivier has gave us a more intimate look into the wineries as well as what we were tasting. A great experience all around!

  Both the tours were fabulous. Watching the cheese initial making process (milk turning to cheese) was really amazing. And I am glad the guide took us to medium size factories as we were able to go in and watch the process closely. Our guide, Guilia, explained very well and also made it fun and easy to listen. She is also quite knowledgeable of the area around Parma and was very responsive to all my queries. As we went to Parma by train for the day, she recommended a car to rent, as the ham factory is far.

  We were a group of 16 older girl guides and 4 leaders from the UK. Aiko was super organised. She agreed a detailed itinerary with me well in advance of our trip, arranged an excellent lunch and delivered a great day for us. There were a couple of mishaps on the day which were out of her control but she remained professional throughout and it was clear that our satisfaction was her priority. Her English is excellent and we would highly recommend.

  This is the best private tour that you can have to visit Gobekli Tepe. Taha is a kind, respectful and very professional tour guide. All my questions were answered, and more information about the site and other interesting places around the area was given. The tour guide came to pick us up right at the airport gate, and dropped us off just at the hotel door that we were staying in Sanliurfa. We also visited the Abraham's pools, Sanliurfa city and grand bazaar all included in the package. Best impossible.

  Totally recommend Darcy as a guide. She was prompt, courteous, and had great knowledge of the area and its history. July was a bad time to see wildlife with its extremely hot days. We enjoyed the beauty of the park augmented by many great stories from Darcy.

  Yumiko hosted an INCREDIBLE trip for us around Mt Fuji! She was full of knowledgeable info and great recommendations. She picked the best places and had connections to a local place for lunch that was excellent! She is a great communicator... and is one of the best guides I have worked with.Highly recommend her services! She should be your first choice for a tour in this area!

  I used ToursByLocals Foodie Tour with Will B. for our annual board and executive retreat. Our group was roughly 10 people. Based on the size, Will B accomodated us by renting a passenger van which was appreciated greatly. He took the group to three area restaurants which everyone enjoyed. He was articulate, friendly, and timely with a good sense of humor. If in the Phoenix area again, we will definitely use this service again. Well worth it! I recommend Will and ToursByLocals highly.

  No hesitation in recommending Rafiq. We had some unexpected complications leading up to the tour our family had booked, and Rafiq was flexible accommodation, courteous and generous. We'll definitely go with him again if we have the chance.

  Barry is very knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. The itinerary was rearranged to make the best use of my time. I went to Carrkck-a-rede rope bridge, Giants Causeway, Bushmills Bar 1608 to taste single malts and lunch at the Bushmills Inn, visited a waterfall in a grove of redwoods, and then got to see the Peace Wall as well as Republican and Loyalist murals back in Belfast. Barry clarified my understanding of the origin of The Troubles, and I found out more about how things proceeded in Belfast and Northern Ireland from that point onward. Barry has a degree in history, and he uses his knowledge well. Great tour.

  If we could give our guide Daniel 10 Stars, we would. We had looked at a number of Stonehenge Inner Circle Tours, and are SO glad we chose this one. Daniel made it an easy process from start to finish. He gave us an exceptional tour and an outstanding day, which was the start of our vacation. We highly recommend this tour and Daniel in particular.

  We chose the Rhone Valley tour, and were hosted by Remi Duvert. He is an absolutely phenomenal person and guide. Both he and Tours By Locals were very communicative when we had questions in advance of our vacation. He was very willing to customize our tour (which he did) and we had two private wine tastings at unique venues with a wonderful history and education from our vineyard hosts, lunch at a wonderful restaurant overlooking vineyards and local wanderings at some very historical areas in the Rhone Valley. We could never have done this on our own without Remi's expertise and connections. We really appreciated that we were fetched from our AirBNB, we were far from city center and having to get to a meeting point very early in the morning was just not going to work for us. Remi has a great sense of humor and we loved our time with him. The places he took us to were fantastic, and made all the better because he was so fun to hang out with. Highly recommend!

  Our group of 14 mostly Canadians, here in Stockholm from all around the world, had a wonderful day with Anna touring the Vasa Museum and the onto Gamla Stan,all the while learning various aspects of Sweden's and Stockholm's history. Our tour was very relaxing and allowed time for Fika and lunch and additional opportunity to learn about Swedish current events. We were blessed with very good weather on the day. Our only regret is that we did not have time for a second day with Anna. Our tour date happened to fall on Canada Day and most of our group dressed accordingly and Anna herself showed up with a wee Canadian Flag on her lapel She's great!!!

  Tolga was an amazing tour guide! We started off by going to the house of the Virgin Mary, then going to the city of Ephesus which was great! We ended the day by being shown how the Turkish women make the Turkish carpets, it was very fascinating! Tolga was a very knowledgeable tour guide and very interactive with us. He has a great personality and sense of humor. We would definitely recommend using him and would love to use him for future tours!

  Samuel was a great tour guide for our multigenerational family. We had 9 people from ages 8 to 90 and everyone had a fabulous time. It was easy to communicate with Samuel by both email and phone. He arranged for a booster seat for the 8 year old and showed up at the meeting place early in case we got there early so the grandparents did not have to stand and wait. Samuel also went out of his way to show us wildlife and stopped wherever we wanted. The views were stunning - I highly recommend this tour!

  Danny was a great guide! He was so knowledgeable and it was clear he had such pride and affinity for Ostuni. Prior to booking I had questioned his English skills since he was listed as "conversational," but he is totally fluent and we no issues with communication. We actually thought he was the best guide of the three we had during our Puglia stay. Highly recommend Danny!

  Patrick was such an excellent tour guide! He was great with communication and knowledgeable about religion, culture and nature in Thailand. We stopped at the Twin Pagodas, walked the Doi Inthanon nature trail, ate a lovely meal at the Karen Village and hiked to and from the Pha dok sieo waterfall. We weren't certain we wanted to do the hike, but Patrick kindly encouraged us-we are so glad he did! It was breathtaking during the hike and off the waterfall. He also brought us local snacks! Highly recommend!

  We had an insightful, entertaining and considerate tour with Lorella. From the first moment she was careful to listen to our needs (it was hot!) and whilst accounting for these, she also managed to share with us the amazing textured history and culture of this wonderful city. I have always booked guides during my travels, for work and pleasure, and Lorella is one of, if not the best I have experienced. We loved our afternoon with Lorella, she was generous with her knowledge and actions.

  Our Istanbul guided tour with Duygu through Tours By Locals was fantastic! The sites were amazingly beautiful and our guide's in-depth information on the history, people made the whole experience so much more personal and enjoyable. Duygu was welcoming, friendly and open to any and all questions, we felt like family. Visited the Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosques, Basilica Cistern, Grand Bazaar, stopped for Turkish coffee at a cafe and ate a delicious homestyle lunch at a local restaurant. Highly recommend Duygu and Tours by Locals!

  Samuel did a great job on our 7hr tour to emerald lake. We spotted bears, eagles, and mountain goats. Stop at suspension bridges was cool and going all the way into the Yukon was fun. Need to promote Geocaching which Sam stopped and let us get one in BC and in the Yukon. To get 2 in Canada added to our caching portfolio. I would not hesitate to recommend Sam for any friends or family visiting Skagway. Only thing I regret was not being in town to hear Sam perform that evening

  A few weeks ago, my daughter and I went on trip to Romania. In Bucharest we had our personal guide Alina with us. She is charming, sociable, professional and with a sense of humor.What could be better than this? After her stories about history, culture, architecture, we fell in love with Romania. Alina is not only professional in her field, but it is easy to communicate with her and the city tour was like meeting with the best friend. We wish Alina further success and recommend for everyone her city tour

  Great tour! Don't hesitate using Josh. Josh gave a great mix of alternatives to fill our time, yet ensured that we saw and learned what we really need to see and learn. Josh was filled with facts…knew how to navigate the crowds and streets and where to stop in the shade and breeze while he enlightened us with history. We optioned for a ferry ride to the north and it was a great mix of our tour. Again…don't hesitate to use Josh!

  Guide Ruben was superb. Knowledgeable about architecture, history of Vicenza, local politics, the best route to see and discuss key sites, and overall a very charming and brilliant individual. His pace of covering places was measured and comfortable. He never tired of responding to questions and replied with full and detailed answers. A great experience to be with him!

  My husband and I and girls 14 & 16 loved our foodie tour with Jay on our first night in Bangkok. She enjoyed sharing her home country delicacies with us and was flexible and knowledgable, taking us by Tuk Tuk and Metro. Arrive hungry as there is much to eat! When we couldn't eat any more, she took us to experience the flower market and KhaoSan Road.   Keiron was fantastic and we had a great day touring with him. His explanation of The Troubles was both balanced and personal. I don't think we would have really understood Belfast and its history without this insight. He took us to all the main sights of Belfast and The Coast and some out of the way places as well. Loved our stops at Ballintoy Harbour and Belfast Castle. His tour has inspired a return trip to Northern Ireland to explore in more depth. Top notch tour all round.

  This sure is sure to impress! Nazim is a 5 star tour guide, VERY knowledgeable. Easy pick up and drop off (from port). We toured Ephesus, Temple of Artemis and Heirloom Weaving center & Jewellery. Nazim was able to narrate and keep us engaged while touring these amazing areas. The carpet stop is well worth the time - interesting and beautiful product. And lunch was amazing!!   This was our first experience with Tours by Locals and we picked a great guide! Rene was so knowledgeable about Montreal history and related history in general.   What a great tour. Michelle was incredibly accommodating with changes to our cruise docking times and our requests regarding the itinerary. She was very knowledgeable about everything we saw and even had some great stories for our "longer" drives if 15 minutes. The speaker system in the car made it easy for even the far back seat to hear. Michelle selected an excellent restaurant for our tour end. It was a great way to see Victoria.

  We recently enjoyed a full day private tour of Samos with Yolanda. She knows everyone! She arrived early at our hotel for pick up and even dropped us at the ferry at the end of the day. We experienced an extensive and relaxed tour of so many island highlight's with excellent view stops.   I cannot imagine a better guide than Sebastian. He put together a really interesting combination of places to go and things to see that gave us a great perspective on the indigenous communities in Ecuador north of Quito. It was a smart combination of city & mountain, shopping & hiking, culture & nature. He provided so much history, perspective, & insight into our visit to the Equator Line, Otavalo, & Cotacachi including really interesting details about a festival happening while we were there for the solstice. His recommendations for places to eat or shop were excellent (get the hot chocolate at Yumbo in Cotachachi!). His ability to translate for our family of non-Spanish speakers was so valuable. For our hike around Cuicocha, he provided the keen eye & naturalist knowledge that helped us discover so many plants & flowers we would have completely missed otherwise. If you have a chance to tour with Sebastian, grab it!

  I cannot imagine a better experience for us and our college-aged kids while in Ireland. It was not "like" having a professor of Irish history as a tour guide, Alan actually IS a PhD in history and a fountain of amazing knowledge about the sites we visited. He also was flexible and accommodating in picking us up from the Kerry airport and from our lodgings in Dingle and Kinsale. We cannot recommend Alan enough. A superb experience that you simply will not get on a tour bus or doing it alone.

  George was absolutely amazing. He met us right where he said and earlier than expected. He even sent a picture to help us see where he'd be. On the boat he brought us snacks, drinks and beer and brought us to some amazing sights to see the blue caves, swim at some beautiful beaches and explore shipwreck cove. We tasted fresh squeezed orange juice, went wine tasting at such a beautiful vineyard and had a lunch he bought for us that was absolutely amazing. He was so helpful and fun to spend the day with.

  Got to Istanbul via cruise at 8am & had to be back by 4:30. Sergun took the 2 of us to the "must see" Istanbul sites- saw the Palace, Haiga Sophia, Blue mosque, Basilia Cistern, and even the spice market & Hippodrome. We had a great lunch and Turkish coffee break, with time to see the old train station and Orient Express. Sergun was knowledgeable, answered all our questions, had a great & happy attitude.   Of all my travels across this region, my one day with Hazem proved to be the most enlightening as I learned about the Palestinian people and viewed firsthand the challenges they face. Hazem took great care to show me safely the occupied city of Hebron, a refugee camp, and the famed Bansky art. He also showed me Bethlehem and guided me quickly through tourist crowds. If you are coming to Israel to understand the historical forces that shape it, then you must tour Palestine. Hazem is a true treasure!

  Our guide Zey gave my wife and I and our 13 and 10 year old granddaughters a wonderful tour of the Virgin Mary's Home and of the spectacular archeological site of Ephesus. Her knowledge of these sites and their place in history made this tour so enjoyable young and old alike. Her presentation and command of English made the tour narration so easy to understand. Although this is a food tour, at the same time Danijela gave an excellent commentary on history and culture as we made numerous stops throughout the old city area, especially to the eateries known best to locals.   The day started with Luis being very punctual and right off the bat he had a friendly, warm presence. His car was comfortable and clean with working a.c. which was definitely needed as the temps outside were high. He shared interesting information and was obviously knowledgeable about everything we saw. His English is perfect. I highly recommend Luis as a tour guide, and would gladly hire him again. He represents himself and Tours by Locals in a very professional way. He delivered great customer svc! The second tour was to Tequila. He took my daughter and her boyfriend , i was unable to go on that tour. He took great care of them. It was an extremely hot day but Luis kept his cool and made them comfortable and when it got to be uncomfortable, he was understanding about their desire to cut tour just a little bit short. They were very happy with the service he provided and the restaurant he recommended. Also he timed activities to beat the crowds. If you're coming to Guadalajara i recommend contacting Luis for your tour needs, you won't be disappointed. And I know I will be contacting him when I return😊

  Pat was a great guide. He was prompt and very knowledgeable. He spoke excellent English and took us to every place we wanted to go including a short tour of Belfast then Bushmills, Giants Causeway and CarrickFurgus. He dropped us off for lunch at a restaurant that was delicious near Bushmills. We would highly recommend touring with Pat and if we are ever back in the area, we would use him again.

  We had a very interesting tour of San Miguel Allende thanks to Betty! She has access to different quaint and beautiful places that otherwise we never would have gotten to know. The views were fantastic. She knows a lot of the town's history and answered all our questions. Would definitely recommend!
