Our tour of Aruba was fantastic. Frances showed us everything from one end of the island all the way to the other. Frances not only showed us all the sites, but also gave us the culture and history of the island. That's what makes this tour memorable. Frances was patent and waited for use at all the stops. I would highly recommend using ToursByLocals(Frances) whenever you want this type of full tour of the island.

Adam is a fantastic tour guide and knows the area well. He took us to the commercial tulous and balanced it nicely with other private ones that he knows well and can get access to. He arranged a good lunch and also a fantastic passage through various water towns. My observation on ToursbyLocals is they undermanage the understanding/dilligence of their tour guides (most have been agencies not guides). This is not the case with Adam, he is the real deal, has been doing this for 7 years, is a local from this region and wants to do hsi tours well. Our group was 3 people, wife, 11 y-o daughter and me.

Jenny is the best! We were given Jenny as our tour guide last Tennessee trip. Due to covid, we didn't return for five years, but even after all that time, we remembered how great Jenny's tour was, & were thrilled she was still guiding tours, & booked her again. This tour was even better! Jenny gets to know her clients and tailors the tour to their interests. She knows the answer to every question, & is cheerful, patient, & great fun. She's the best tour guide we've ever had, in the US and even in Europe.

Jeremie spent three terrific days with me, customizing my tours to fit my interests. I feel that I really learned about and enjoyed the area--from villages to towns, from food to wine, from art to nature. He picked spectacular sites and wonderful restaurants. His recommendations were always on target and he was friendly, knowledgeable, and resourceful. Not only would I be grateful to spend more time with him, I'll be sorry if I never get to connect with him again. He's become a good friend!

My friends and I just returned from Washington D.C. and an extraordinary walking tour of Georgetown with Susan. It was 5 stars plus! Susan was interested in tailoring the tour to our needs and preferences and we couldn't have asked for a better itinerary or guide. She had done deep research on the homes we saw and the stories associated with current and former inhabitants. It was fun and educational, all while getting good exercise. We hope to return next year and plan to take another tour with Susan.

This was the first of three tours I had booked with Kumiko and what a great day I had. Prior communication had been excellent and the day was simply amazing. Kumiko gave me a real insight into Okinawa's rich history and culture. She has a great understanding of this and is able to communicate it effectively and passionately. Her English is very good and she really cares about her clients' wellbeing and interests. I highly recommend Kumiko.

Denny is an excellent guide before, during, and after the tour. I asked him advice about where to stay and what to see. He was very helpful. He was at the hotel promptly and had a plan for the day so we could see the most at the best times. We saw the changing of the guards at the Gyeongbokgung Palace and panoramic views of Seoul in more than one location. We walked down through Bukchon Hanok Village and through Namdaemun Market. He took us to a traditional Korean restaurant and shared his culture.

Moo was a fantastic guide. She was knowledgable, personable and very well organized. We spent a wonderful day with her. She made a superb restaurant recommendation for lunch and arranged for the transportation and table. She adjusted the plan as necessary and made everything work seamlessly. We had a wonderful day and I would recommend her 1000%. As a member of my home city's historical board which runs city tours, I can say that Moo possesses great knowledge about Bangkok. She's also a foodie.

Road to Hana tour: Demian was a pleasure to work with. All communications were excellent. He arrived promptly and picked up our group of 5 at 2 different hotels. The vehicle was clean and comfortable. We had such a great day and he suggested things that we would have missed on our own. For lunch, Demian suggested a place we likely would have passed by and had a delicious meal. Everything we asked to experience was worked into the schedule. He was very personable and knowledgeable

Claudio was an amazing guide. His communication was exceptional. We were a group of three and he offered good information without it being overload. We wanted a hike to a beautiful place and the emphasis was on hike. He knows the history and is a proud Sardinian. His English was good. As we didn't have a vehicle he picked us up in Olbia. The ferry ride to La Maddelana was fun and the waters spectacular.

I used Tours By Locals on a recent trip to Bogota, Colombia. I had a great experience. The tour we chose was one where we were able to be the only people on the tour (not a group tour) which naturally allowed us, with our tour guide, to focus on our particular areas of interest and also form a more personal connection with our guide. Highly recommend.

Hugh navigated us around Naoshima with efficiency, knowledge, and skill. It was a day filled with beauty and art and we never felt rushed despite seeing so much. I would highly recommend Hugh for this "must experience " adventure.

We enjoyed Daryl's Tour of Sydney very much. She is an extremely nice person and very knowledgeable. She was also very helpful in accommodating the touring schedule to my physical shortcoming in terms of walking. As a result of the tour with Daryl we are in love with Sydney.

We had the best time with Vitor on our tour! Vitor is an excellent tour guide who truly loves the island. He has so much knowledge of the history, fauna and local hidden gems. He took us out on a four wheeling adventure on that we will never forget! Our kids loved riding in the open jeep and seeing the beautiful island from that viewpoint. The stops to have Poncha, snacks and a Prego were spot on and did not want the day to end. I would highly recommend spending time Vitor on any tour in Madeira!

Wow, what a trip. Sherif was amazing. Was really interested in what we wanted to see and went above and beyond trying to accommodate everything. We were late arriving so our time was short, my daughter had her heart set on braids. Sherif arranged someone to meet us and do her braids before the end of our trip. Really above and beyond. Also really enjoyed learning of the wonderful Balinese culture and learning the spiritual meanings of things in Bali we had not noticed before. We will be using Sherif again

We had a fabulous tour with Arturo in Cabo. We went to Los Arcos, then whale watching where we saw several whales and then snorkeling. After the tour, we had an emergency and Arturo went above and beyond in taking care of us. Great tour with a wonderful man.

Azime is marvelous! Her guided tour of Ephesus was the highlight of our cruise. Our cruise line was a mess. On arrival in Kusadasi they delayed letting us disembark causing us to be off the ship later than they advertised. But Azime patiently waited for us & maximized what time we had left. Azime is fluent, educated, and loves what she does. It was the best tour we'd ever been on. And don't miss the Terraced Houses! Amazing! All 6 of us raved about her at dinner that night. Thanks Azime!

Goncalo was an excellent and accommodating guide who customized a tour for us of Fatima and Coimbra. We were able to get to know him and learn and see fascinating things in both locations. It helped that he lives in Coimbra and attended university there. We highly recommend him as a guide. — Coimbra was more interesting than Fatima, if you have a choice to make.

We booked 2-days in Siem Reap and had an amazing experience with Sem during the two day tour and can heartily recommend him. He has an outstanding knowledge of the cultural heritage and the more recent history of Cambodia and communicates this in an engaging and and easily understandable way. Everything was organised perfectly, and he swiftly accommodated any wish for flexibility and adjustments. We could not have wished for more, and the two days where the highlight of our two week holidays in south-east Asia.

Dario was our amazing English-speaking guide for Hiroshima and Miyajima. Dario shared his deep knowledge and unique experience as an Italian living in Japan, able to explain not only the facts and highlights of Hiroshima but also important takeaways from the Japanese perspective. Dario also found us the best cherry blossom viewing areas, took us to a local spot for okonomiyaki and oysters and even shared a bit about his lovely Japanese family. We would definitely seek out Dario again!

Cindy was a great guide - perfect pace. Understood our interests. Also flexible - she noticed that our original destination was going to be crowded with tour buses, so she pivoted immediately to a different location and was able to offer us a unique experience. Leticia was AMAZING! We were running a little late and she worked with us and spent so much extra time with us. She answered all our questions and let us walk at our own pace. We had two young kids with us and it definitely took a while to walk through the city. She was so patient! I can not recommend her enough. 10/5 stars!!

Barbara was amazing. She picked up up at the Frankfurt airport and off we went for a whirlwind tour. We had a blast...even though it was raining. Barbara was friendly and very easy to chat with. Fabio did a wonderful job. He picked us up at our hotel and showed us the highlights of the city for the afternoon. He was pleasant, knowledgeable and very professional. I usually like to explore at my own pace, but we only had one day in Sao Paulo and my girlfriend was a little wary, given the city's gruff reputation. However, I'm glad to report that Sao Paulo did not seem any worse to me than many other large cities with typical city problems. We felt completely safe sightseeing with Fabio.

Maria was amazing! We did a private tour with 6 in our group-2 kids (ages 10 & 11), 2 adults, & 2 seniors (1 with a walker). Maria was very accommodating with our needs & our requests along the way. She knew so much about Boston's history & current affairs, & she told stories in a way that were captivating even for the kids. We all learned so much & will remember a lot because of the way she told the history. She even had a fun quiz at the end with a prize for my boys! We all loved it! Thanks Maria!

My family of 4 (2 and adults and 2 teens) did the 3.5 hour Gibraltar tour and it was the highlight of our entire vacation! The guide is knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. He had tips at every site that made each experience better. His vehicle was very comfortable and it felt like we covered all of Gibraltar. Highly recommend this tour to anyone!

We had booked the olive tour only to discover we had arrived in the wrong month however we spent a wonderful day with Sandra as she shared the diverse sites of past artists and ancient temples. We learned of olives, almonds and figs and finished our stay in pistachio heaven. She was very accommodating to our wishes and left us wanting to return again soon.

Joan did a wonderful job of showing all the best of historical Boston in three hours and in a very comfortable car. She is personable, quite knowledgeable and very well organized with good graphics prepared on a large tablet to give us a sense of where we were and how the city developed. Hiroko is a wonderful guide. We had a very entertaining day on Naoshima Island. With Hiroko's expertise we flitted around most of the exhibits with ease. If you only have one day to visit Naoshima then a guide such as Hiroko is the best way to go.

We booked a full day tour with Miguel and it turned out to be the best day of our whole trip! He was incredibly knowledgeable, answered all of our questions, and took us to see some amazing places on Madeira. His love for the island is obvious, and we came to love it as well. Miguel found absolutely beautiful places for us to explore and visit. I can't say enough positive things about Miguel and his tour. Ted gave us a wonderful tour through villages as well as showing us a beach frequented by the locals. He was greeted by many of the people in the villages and at roadside stalls. We found out why he is called Uncle Ted. He made several stops to show us plants and their traditional uses. He was very diligent about ensuring we were at the ship at our requested time. We highly recommend him for a cultural learning experience.

Our group of 5 had a great day with Janna and her husband. We saw some of the Roatan coast and mangroves from boat, snorkeled in 2 beautiful places, and had a delicious lunch prepared by Janna's mother. Janna and Brian were fun to talk to and shared information about the history of Roatan and life there now. It was a perfect tour. I highly recommend booking this tour.

We had a wonderful day with Igor touring St Malo and Mont St Michel. He met us at the gare de Rennes as we made this a day trip from Paris. We explored St Malo by foot, learning a lot about this enchanting town and its rich history. After a lunch of typical Breton food, we made our way to Mont St Michel for the afternoon. Igor was knowledgeable, engaging, and funny. He's a great travel partner when you explore France. Highly recommend!!!

Said was an amazing guide! My dad and I learned so much about the history and culture of Fes, and Said made the experience very engaging and enjoyable. We never felt rushed, and he was incredibly flexible, patient, and thorough in showing us each part of the city. Highly recommend booking with Sandra! She is very experienced and it was well worth it to go with her suggestions during the tour to maximize our limited time in this port. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary on this trip, and she took extra advance planning time to make sure we had a special visit in Portofino. She selected an excellent car with an exceptional driver. This was a fantastic shore excursion and we learned so much. We thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant she suggested after the tour!

We loved spending the day with Chris in Seoul. We had a 13 hour layover after an all night flight so I was concerned we would struggle with the attention span needed to really learn about Korea. It was not an issue with Chris involved. His dry sense of humor and his unique way of engaging my two teenagers made for a great day really learning about Korean culture. Vanna ensured that I had a thorough and memorable experience! As a solo female traveler visiting Bangkok for the first time, I felt completely informed and safe with Vanna. Really excellent service. Driving was safe and secure, guiding was very good and above all Feker and the other guide had a good sense of humour so it was really fun for us. When things went wrong (ie I left something behind) he went above and beyond to sort the problem. Basically he is a very reliable person, good fun and he works all the hours to make sure it all goes as you want. Highly recommended.

This tour was AMAZING! Michael was absolutely FANTASTIC! He showed us SO many beautiful, cultural, and historical things. We saw Old Town, New Town, various ruins, a church in a cave, a 130-year-old home (and met the woman whose family built it), a pottery shop, the stunning waters of the Aegean Sea, sampled delicious olive oils, and ate at seaside reastaurant where we got to choose our own fish from the kitchen. If you have the chance, definitely do this tour with Michael.

We really enjoyed our tour of the Gettysburg battleground with tour guide Eddie and Jack the battle guide. Eddie shared great information and got us to Gettysburg and back safely. He also gave great advice as to other sites to see in DC area. The Gettysburg museum is very impressive and the cylcorama was very cool. The preservation of the battleground and specialized knowledge of the guide made for a wonderful day of learning about this historic area and the events that transpired.

David picked 2 of us up from an IAH red eye flight and showed us Houston, NASA and Galveston by car early on a Sunday, leaving us at our cruise ship at about 10:30. He was a chill host who gave us great recommendations, showed us the best taco spot, and made me excited to spend more time in the area. He was sensitive to how tired we were and I loved seeing all the architecture and hearing some history.

Rajan is a great guide - very experienced, knowledgeable, intelligent and flexible - Rajan knows everything and can answer historical questions. We had a very good tour in a decent car with excellent driver who was always friendly and smiling but also very careful as driving in Kathmandu is difficult. I am happy to recommend Rajan and definitely ask him again when I am in Nepal next time. For people who are hesitating - this is the only way to explore Kathmandu! Do not try and do it yourself. This was my first time using Tours by Locals website and I was a bit sceptical, but all went very well - I guess this is because Rajan was taking it seriously. We had an amazing day with Gaby! She is very knowledgeable of the area, its history and issues. My brain swelled with all the info !! She definitely got our vibe and our day was spent doing and seeing exactly what we were interested in! Gaby is a super nice person with a super big heart ! We had an issue with some lost luggage and she went above and beyond to help us find it . A perfectly balanced tour showcasing all the charms of old & new Nara, offering a little taste of everything: flora, fauna, temples & architecture, shopping, cuisine & culture. Atsuko contributed to a truly enjoyable & stress-free experience at a relaxed pace. We had the best two hour tour with Veronica this past Saturday. We only had a few hours in Milan and wanted to make sure our kids got all the highlights - with great historical information, and that is exactly what we got with Veronica. Great tour. Andrej picked us up at our hotel and drove us to Chichen Itza and gave us an insightful and complete tour of the site. Often a guide is like a tablespoon of peanut butter. Our tour started with a delicious lunch of biryani and local fish. We visited cultural landmarks, places of workshop, museums and handmade paper factory. Our tour ended with a relaxing walk along Rock Beach promenade, & a visit to the Craft Bazaar. If there were more than 5 stars, Vanna would get it! By booking tours by locals, what you really want is a tour by a local person, and you 1000% get that with Vanna! We went to a local market (Lat Mayom)- an amazing insight to the markets of Thailand. She took us to a place that had the best Pad Thai in Bangkok, and it certainly was! She bought us street food, that she said was a "must try". Vanna was funny and kind. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is, don't book anyone else but Vanna!

Sam was the guide for our group of two families, including 5 children. We went on a two-day tour of the temples, Angkor Thom and the Tonle Sap Lake. Sam and his driver picked us up in their van from our hotel each morning. The van was stocked with ice cold water and there were always cold towels waiting for us after each temple visit--which was a nice touch and really helped with the heat. Sam speaks English very well. Sam is so knowledgeable of and passionate about the history of Cambodia and the Angkor area, providing historical context, personal anecdotes and interesting insights about the construction and engineering of each site we visited. Sam pointed out the Hindu and Buddhist influences in the different temples and explained the background and meaning of the different symbols, structures and carvings. It was also very interesting to hear Sam’s story about life during the war in Cambodia. It was a fascinating two days! Sam was the perfect guide for our group. He is friendly and flexible and patient and, most importantly, he really has a great personality—he is a lot of fun! We highly recommend Sam for his expertise, warm personality, and excellent service.

Our tour was very informative with a thorough view in two days of Miami from an insider perspective. We saw inside many hotels, public and government buildings. Martin is British, but a fluent Spanish speaker. He easily guided us in Little Havana, and to an off the beaten path restaurant, El Palacio De Los Jugos. We got an understanding of the real "heartbeat" and energy of Miami. Martin is the best tour guide we have ever had!

My friends and I had a three hour walking tour with Gonzalo in Montevideo. We walked through the old section of town and a number of the public squares that were beautiful. He provided history of the area and the buildings that we were seeing. If we wanted to take a break he accommodated us. He brought water which was very nice because it was a very hot day. On the road before dawn. First boat on the water. The sight of so many neon-coloured flamingos feeding side-by-side in the Ria Celestun Biosphere Reserve has to be seen to be believed! Other highlights...eating the freshest shrimp, ever, for breakfast on the beach. Discovering homemade coconut popsicles (paletas). Procuring local pink salt (Flor de sal Rosa). Exploring the backroads. Catching a glimpse of day-to-day life in vibrant Yucatecan villages. An impromptu visit to a beautiful sunflower garden. We enjoyed Ralf’s company and his insights into Yucatecan life. He happily accommodated our interest in going off the beaten path for a while, and patiently waited for more than a few photos to be taken. He clearly had a lot of respect for the individual Yucatecans we encountered along the way. Muchas gracias…thank you, Ralf. A1!!!

We are so happy we booked a day trip with Cesar. He made everything so easy and answered all of our questions. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. I was amazed at the history packed into this small city. Three hours was just enough time to look and linger and talk at the places that sparked our interest. Our guide, Ilse, was outstanding. My family and I had a great day in Dominica with Danny. Our ship docked at a different pier, but he was there and ready for us. He promptly took us to our first hike and explained a little about the island during the drive. Monica is an energetic knowledgeable guide who has a very good understanding of Agra and the Taj Mahal. Her driver took us from Delhi to Agra for a monument tour, bear rescue just outside of Agra and dinner. The next morning Monica arrived for a 6:30am start to the Taj. Monica knows her history well. We both really enjoyed Monica's information and tales of Indian life. Monica charged $350 USD for the drive from Delhi, and 10 hours of her time.

Jooz was amazing. Highly recommend. She's so knowledgeable about the whole island. She was accommodating and adaptable to deal with our changing plans. She was funny , kind and made our day in St Marten the best. We couldn't have had a better time. She knows where to go when to go to avoid crowds.

We have toured many islands, with wonderful guides. Sergui was the best we have had: exceptionally professional, polite and courteous. He gave detailed answers to continuous questions over the 7 hour trip. Extremely friendly and genuinley interested in us, after a while we felt we had known him a long time. At remarkable places he took photos we downloaded for free. (He is a professional photographer.) They are beautiful; capturing a special day. Thank you so very much. Ian Daniela Francesca Liliana
