  Had an incredible all day tour with family ranging from 18-75 years old. Ed is a born teacher, is so knowledgeable about the history and the most recent discoveries and overall shares his passion about Jerusalem. He was willing to accommodate changes based on our interests and gave many other suggestions for things to see outside of our tour. Definitely recommend!!

  My wife and I visited Cappadocia for a 2 day tour and our guide, Oğuzhan, was incredible. I was a little uncertain as it was our first time using Tours By Locals, but after a little research, I thought it was worth a try. Oğuzhan has a great personality and is a story teller at heart. His sing-song voice (he did actually sing a few times) and sense of humor along with his incredible knowledge of history and the region brought Cappadocia alive. I would definitely recommend anyone to take a tour by him!

  The Rafa Nadal experience tour with Pedro was excellent. On the drive over we got a background on Palma de Mallorca. Once at the Rafa Nadal Sports Center, we were escorted to the Rafa experience, excellent interactive museum style space which is a must for true tennis fans. When you see the videos memorabilia and trophies, the true impact of the champion on his hometown is evident. Afterwards we travelled to the manacor tennis club where Rafa learned to play on red clay and Porto Cristo to see Rafa's home

  I had asked Val to create a day focused on wine from Madeira. He did a superlative job of this and added in several wonderful sights on the drive. It turned out to be a great, informative day. He is a good totally engaged guide. Knowledgeable about Madeira and the world....a good communicator and a good conversationalist. He made the day fly by.

  Best part of tour 12-day tour! Jose is very engaging on a range of eco-topics. On the 3.5 km loop in Piro Preserve, there were less than a dozen visitors. (Parks can have of up to 3,000). Piro includes a canopy-level tower for surveying many more birds and monkeys. We followed with visits to a beach and a conservation garden for endangered flora and back to the Preserve for lunch. We finished in Matapolo, way fewer people than in parks. We saw more than expected, and Jose gave us more time than promised.

  We had a wonderful wine tasting tour with Kim in Constantia. Kim is so knowledgeable and took us to a number of fantastic wine farms, we learnt so much! Kim is very friendly and answered all our questions very professionally as well as with patience! We have already recommended Kim to a friend and will continue to recommend her. Many thanks Kim

  Inma was the best tour guide we've had - and we've had several great ones! A native of Toledo, she knows the history, art, and architecture of the city inside and out. Very smart and insightful and explained the complex history of Toledo very well. As a bonus, she was absolutely terrific with our 4 yo and 10 yo kids, who had a blast with her. We had the tour today (April 7, 2023) and I've already recommended her to a friend who's coming to Toledo soon. I absolutely recommend Inma!

  Our tour of Tahiti with Natalia was delightful in every way. We appreciated that she worked diligently to arrange a last minute requested change by us. Her extensive knowledge of the island and places we visited were offered with warmth and enthusiasm. We couldn't imagine a more perfect way to end our visit to French Polynesia.

  Sotath is a very knowledgable guide who is also very kind and considerate. He showed us around the Temples in an efficient way whilst taking into account the heat. His knowledge about Buddhism helped us relate the Temples to Buddhism in modern times. We highly recommend his services.

  We booked our tour with Aaron the day after we arrived in SMDE. We were so glad we did. It changed our casual interaction with the city and the culture into a more meaningful, impactful experience. Aaron's intimate knowledge of the city, culture, and history was mind-blowing. After our tour, we had a more robust, richer interaction with the city and the people. Aaron greatly understood the rich Mexican history and the history of SMDE. We could have spent a whole day walking and listening to Aaron.

  Miquel was great! He was very easy to communicate with prior to the tour and tailored the tour to our interests.   Stephanie, took our booking late the night before we wanted to go. Met us earlier than the suggested 10am and adapted the tour to exactly what we wanted to do. Her energy was infectious, knowledge incredible and ability to explain, not just the history, buildings and people, but the details behind it all, in a world wise manner, rather than "matter of fact". We got to know Stephanie, her background and family and understand why she loves Bordeaux. Thank you Stephanie. Look forward to meeting again.

  We did the evening food tour and Fletcher was our tour guide. Make sure that you are hungry at the beginning of the tour. We started by trying our hand at making dumplings then ate them when they were cooked. It was a lot of fun. There were short walks between each eatery testing local Hoi A dishes. The highlight for me was the Cao Lau which was delicious. Our guide Fletcher speaks impeccable English and provided lots of information and conversation through the tour. Thoroughly recommend him and this tour

  Our group of 6 visited Morocco Nov 2022. We were reluctant to take a day tour from Spain but found Abdel on Tours By Locals and decided to go for it! Abdel was AMAZING! He greeted us off our ferry ride with our own private driver which made it feel safer and more personal. Abdel maximized our time taking us to many lovely sites and also orchestrated fabulous food experiences in a short time. He even made sure we made it back aboard our return ferry. Exceptional experience and would book with Abel again!

  Made our first booking via toursbylocals.com and everything worked perfectly. We (aged 41 and 51) made a tour to the Soufriere Volcano on St. Vincent with our children (aged 11 and 16) and had a wonderful day with Stefano. He fetched us from the cruise port and at first we drove long time at the coast with wonderful views on the atlantic coast. Stefano was a great guide, told us a lot about country and the locals on our drive and took good care of our family on our way up the volcano and back. We really enjoyed the day and can only recommend a tour with Stefano. When we come back to St. Vincent we will surely call him again for a tour, best service, nothing to complain about. Thanks again, great experience!

  We had a wonderful day with Vivian! As my son had already been to Mindo, she took our requests and tailored our day perfectly. We had a full day eating a delicious breakfast with hummingbirds, visiting the 'real' equator (she has a great app to show 0 degrees latitude), hiking to waterfalls in the cloud forest, riding over the canopy and seeing toucans, visiting with butterflies, seeing all kinds of orchids, enjoying ice-cream, etc. She gave us a gift of a day in Mindo!

  We only had one day to explore Isle of Man, and we are so grateful that we were able to have Jane take us around. She is extremely knowledgeable about the island and it's incredibly rich history. She took us on a breathtakingly scenic tour through thousands of years of history including Neolithic burial grounds, monasteries, castles, churches, lighthouses and geological wonders of the island. An amazing day with a wonderful guide.

  Amazing tour of Malaga with Mahy during Holy Week! She was extremely knowledgeable, vivacious and professional. She delved into the history of the city, both ancient and recent.   My rating for this tour and the guide/ driver is a 5. If I could give them a 10 I absolutely would. I was able to do every that I wanted to do in Bali thanks to Sherif and his willingness to plan an itinerary around my wants and goals. While traveling between activities, I was provided information on Balinese culture and was able to ask any questions as well. Thank you for such a lovely time and allowing me to have a Bali trip uniquely mine.

  Juan Cruz was incredibly helpful in planning our time in Mendoza! He went out of his way to help us plan 3 days of wine tours even though he could only be our guide for two. We learned about the country and the wine industry. We can't recommend him enough!

  OH MY GOODNESS! MAHY WAS AN INCREDIBLE GUIDE! My adult son & I couldn't have been more happy with the fantastic tour given to us, the depth of knowledge, warm personality, willingness/flexibility to let us pick what we wanted to do/see, & the number of surprises that she pointed out on so many streets!Without her knowledge we honestly would have walked right past & missed so many hidden gems!To say that having her as a guide was worth every dollar we paid, would be an understatement!Truly, thank you Mahy!

  Kabelo is a superb guide. His exuberance, flexibility, delightful personality, and expertise made our day together a joyful and memorable experience. He made every effort to accommodate our personal requests while at the same time enriching our knowledge of Cape Town and its history by taklng us to places we would not have seen otherwise, such as The Slave Lodge. Our ascent of Table Mountain was made possible by his willingness to extend his work day an extra hour at no further cost to us.

  Achraf Benamar (Raffi), I can not say enough about our tour with Raffi! He was delightful, thoughtful, was very knowledgeable about the history and where to go and not go…he had a driver and was simply fabulous. We learned a tremendous amount about the history of Morocco and Tangier!

  We had a wonderful, fascinating and informative tour of the city of Leiden with Giovanna. She personalized the tour with areas of particular interest to us (the university area, historical sites, etc.) and included so much that added local flavor and interest. She came to meet us at the restaurant we stopped at for lunch before the tour, and she even accompanied us back to our meeting place after the tour, which was above and beyond! I would highly recommend Giovanna!

  Rue was amazing. It was the best days of our visit. She was knowledgeable & really felt like we were locals ourselves. Everyone loved her as she can relate to all ages. She is fun & led us in activities that made all ages feel included. We covered more than we ever would have (or known to go to) on our own. We loved it so much we booked a second day!   Andrea was a wonderful tour guide. The weather turned out to be gorgeous when our group visited Lofoten, and Andrea was able to adjust the tour to take advantage of the great weather so that we could see so much of Lofoten's beautiful scenery. Andrea was knowledgeable and very accommodating to our group. The lunch he provided was a nice treat filled with local specialties. We all had a fantastic day. Highly recommend Andrea and would definitely use him again.

  We had an absolutely wonderful tour of Porto with Sara. She shared so many wonderful stories of Porto past and present and absolutely delighted and engaged in everyone on the tour from an 11 year old to an 82 year old. The tour was easy to set up and Sara was very helpful setting up a meeting spot in advance. Our tour with Sara was absolutely one of the highlights of our whole trip to Portugal

  This was an exceptional tour. Besides showing us Bucharest, Silvana also explained the history of Bucharest and Romania under communism with great insight on how it affected her and her family. She was very flexible and tailored our tour to our interests which included architecture and food. Highly recommend.

  Angela was a fantastic guide for our tour in Bangkok. She tailored tours to our requirements and was very flexible with those. She has great English, very informative, is witty and fun to be with. We were brought to all the iconic places eg the fabulous Palace, temples and Buddhas but Angela also introduced us to the local scene eg the floating market, street food tasting, boat trip with Ed on canals, using the local sky train etc etc . We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Angela and know you will as well

  Had a lovely day touring Bangalore w/ Mr. Ramesh. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and easy-going. His love for the city shined through. The driver was excellent and the car was comfortable & immaculate. We enjoyed all tour stops but highlights were the produce/flower market and the Bull & Shiva Temples. We were the only tourists in these spots & were mesmerized by the sights, sounds, and beauty of the city's culture. Lunch at a local veg restaurant was a truly authentic bonus experience. Highly recommend!

  Ahmed led us on a 9-day tour from Hurghada to Luxor to Aswan to Abu Simbel to Cairo. He arranged for all of our ground transportation, including airport pick-up / drop-off and many boat transfers across the Nile. Ahmed is very knowledgeable about Egyptian mythology and the stories that are depicted on the walls of the various temples and tombs. He took us to wonderful lunch spots that we never would have found on our own, as well as some impromptu walking tours through Luxor, Aswan and Cairo. 5 stars!

  We enjoyed a lovely afternoon with Matthew as our guide. He was such fun and quite patient with us as well. We did a walk about Inverness, then Matthew drove us to Clava Cairns and Colloden. Matthew is quite knowledgeable, and we thoroughly enjoyed his company, as well as his recommendations for sites to visit the next day. He even took the extra time to email us a suggested route with Google map link so we would be all set for exploring next day. Fantastic!

  There was 8 of us on our private tour & Mitsuyo was great in accommodating us all both in preferences and travelling capacity. Right from the get go Mitsuyo met us at the station on time & was flexible in her approach the whole day through with timing between feature stops, lunch & so forth being tailored. Mitsuyo even stayed until we had secured our bullet train tickets to Osaka & local train access. Our Okonomiyaki lunch location was perfect & local knowledge was great. TY Mitsuyo a highlight of Japan

  Jay went above and beyond as our tour guide. He was incredibly accommodating to our family of five, always willing to adjust the itinerary as needed to make our trip more enjoyable. His flexibility and responsiveness were greatly appreciated, and we felt well taken care of at all times and we never felt rushed. He was not only a fantastic translator but also an expert in local culture, helping us to fully immerse ourselves in the experience. Overall, we had an unforgettable trip thanks to Jay's expertise.

  Vera was absolutely fantastic. At every opportunity she took excellent care of us. She did a lot of work on our behalf even before we arrived. She literally wrote the book on Heidelberg. Our only regret is that we didn't have more Euros to give her as a tip.

  We cannot say enough about this tour. From the very start to the very end Anna was filling us full of the history of Warsaw. It is obvious that Anna loves her country and for that reason I highly recommend this tour. You will walk away an informed person. We will take a piece of Warsaw in our hearts when we leave.

  Jaime was a wonderful guide, spoke very good English and shared his perspective on the history of Medellin. Touring with Jaime was essential for us to understand what it was like growing up here and how the city has evolved politically and culturally in recent decades. He is flexible to adapt the trip to our interests and is very pleasant to spend time with. We highly recommend Jaime!

  We're three seasoned travelers and Issam was easily Top Five of all of our travel experiences! He's not just a guide. He was a Moroccan experience Extremely well educated. A fellow foodie!   John was outstanding! A lifelong Aucklander, he was full of insights. He rented a larger van for us 4 bigger Americans, and we went east and west of the city. A highlight was getting in the Tasman Sea at Piha beach. John is attuned to the interests of his visitors, including a 15 minute stop at the Parnell section of Auckland so my spouse could spend a lot of money! We saw the neighborhood of his youth, and he explained many of the changes. He also had great questions about the US. A great guy!

  Our Canadian family of five(including two teenagers) enjoyed a perfect day with Evan in Hamburg. I was nervous to book as it was our first private experience but I can happily say the tour WELL exceeded our expectations. Evan was funny, knowledgeable, kind and relatable. He customized a tour just for us and took us to special places we never would have found on our own. Hamburg is a gem. I HIGHLY recommend Evan. A 5 star day!

  Leonardo was an incredibly informative, engaging and considerate guide. He tailored the tour to the needs of everyone in our group and went out of his way to make sure we all had an incredible day.   We had a guide booked for a tour in Chefchhaouen who canceled last minute due to a car accident. TBL did their best to track us down and find a replacement. Amina was available and she was FANTASTIC. She is the first and only female tour guide in Chefchaouen and knows everyone in town. This makes for a fun tour as we stop and chat to locals, taste cheese, try on traditional costumes, drink fresh orange juice and enjoy tea, and local pastries. Amina has a great deal of knowledge, and loves her work. Her English is great. She sings as you walk along, and tells jokes. I can totally recommend her.

  Olga is an amazing guide. Our visit with her to the prehistoric ruins outside of Evora was one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. We had a three-hour tour, and she managed to squeeze in all the sights we wanted to see and get us to the train station on time for our train back to Amsterdam. She was a wealth of knowledge about the history -ancient, medieval, modern - of the area, and her passion for her job came through. We hope to do another tour with her again! Highly recommend!!!

  Great trip to walk along the cliffs overlooking the pacific ocean and then also swim and spend time at the beach. Was able to see some dolphins from the top of the hill as we're leaving, jumping in the ocean. Gesa was fun to talk with and the family enjoyed her stories and information. Great way to spend the day getting out of Auckland and seeing a real treasure. Thanks!

  I had a wonderful day with Anjal. She had arranged travel to a couple of historical sites and gave comprehensive explanation about both...we had as long as I wanted at both sites..it was marvellous not to be rushed. She also introduced me to the bazaars and some local dishes..really enjoyed eating lunch with the locals. I had a couple of shopping requests and the itinerary was flexible enough to fit in my requests. Life saving traffic tips were also included. I'd highly recommend a day with Anjal.

  If you are going to tour the markets (or anywhere) you HAVE to book with Angela! She was willing to pick us up early and we beat the crowds while experiencing the markets like you never could on your own or with a big group. She introduced us to foods we wouldn't have known to try and gave us tips to support the locals properly while enjoying ourselves immensely! She even took extra time at the end to show us more amazing areas! This tour price is a steal for the experience you get! I would book again!!

  Our tour guide Dewa was very flexible and accommodating. She patiently allow us to enjoy Bali sightseeing at full. Highly recommend the Balinese art village tours (wood carving, batik painting and silversmith). Loved elephant cave, Tegalalang rice terraces, and the Mount Batur even though it was cloudy that day, so the top of the mountain was not clearly visible. Also, Pulina coffee plantation was a great choice to learn about the luwak coffee but also about many other spices and plants that we all use in everyday life. Very educational. Enjoyed snorkeling at Blue Lagoon, Campuhan ridge walk and Uluwatu Temple, as well. We had a great time, thanks to Dewa's excellent guide service.

  Peter was charming, informative and also very flexible with us. We had a teenager along who was interested in different things than the older folks and Peter just made the magic happen.   Yon Elvis is an amazing guide and now a friend. He picked us up at our stay in Cienfuegos and took us to our stay in Trinidad 1 1/2 hours away, all the while telling us about life in Cuba, in plain English. We spent and day and a half with him walking the city and then on a hike in Parque el Cubana. We hit all the sites including a great restaurant and two places to try daiquiris and the local canchacharas. Yon Elvis makes you his priority in every way. Hire this guy! He's awesome.

  Daniel was fabulous and we had a wonderful tour with him. We were about 1/2 hour late getting off the ship. We did communicate by phone and he waited patiently at the agreed meeting place.   This is the tour we were looking forward and we highly recommend using Val. He is knowledgeable about everything on the island: sights, food, flora, birds, everything! His open air truck can go where other vehicles can't and that made all the difference. He was excellent at catering our tour to our interests and hosted us more like family than a tour guide.   My wife and I did the Graceland/Memphis tour and we had a wonderful day out. Jenny (and Patrick) were the prefect hosts showing us the advertised highlights as well as a few offbeat things which was great fun for us. Nothing was too rushed and we had ample time at each venue we visited. What we loved was the flexibility of the tour. Nothing was too much trouble.We were recommended dinner at BB Kings in Beale street. So we had great food and live music!! Highly recommend this tour and Jenny as a guide.   Many thanks to Willard for a truly amazing visit to the Great Zimbabwe ruins at the beginning of February. The weather was very much against us, but that did not spoil the occasion, it was just a case of sheltering from the worst of it, I don't think we had to miss anything. GZ had been on my wish list for years, and it did not disappoint. I just realise how little I knew about the pre-European history of Africa. It was a very long day trip out of Harare, but utterly worth it. Tourist guidebooks only show the highlights, I hadn't realised what a huge area it covered.

  Our private winelands tour by Brenda Dornbrack was absolutely perfect in every way. She helped us identify the best areas and Wine estates to meet our needs and the day was amazing. With over 300 wineries in the cape, it's important to have an expert giving you advice.   Chris is an excellent guide and driver. The vehicle was very comfortable and roomy. It was perfect for the extensive driving we did. We traveled more than two hours north of Fremantle to visit Nambung National Park and the surrounding areas. Lunch at the Lobster Shack was marvelous. On our way back to the ship, we made a surprise stop at Yanchep National Park where we were amazed by all the kangaroos. Chris was extremel helpful with an older couple who had mobility issues. We highly recommend Chris!

  We had a great day with Maria, getting to know her and the natural surroundings she knows so well. She and our driver helped us see more than we would have on the ship's excursions. Wish we had time to take the ski lift on Orsono, but the interesting conversation over lunch at the ski lodge made up for it. In Puerta Varas, we stopped at a small craft market, which didn't seem promising, but she helped me find exactly the keepsake I was looking for. So much more to see and do, wish we could have stayed longer.

  Aga met me at my hotel and within minutes I realized I was in good hands. It was my first experience with Tours By Locals and I wasn't sure what to expect.   Hannah's private tour was perfect for our group! She met us at our hotel in Hanoi and arranged for a car. The driver was safe and attentive. One of our group members has mobility issues and we never felt rushed or uncomfortable. She was very knowledgeable about the history and lore of Ha Long Bay and the surrounding area.   Fantastic time with Elton who accommodated our group of 6 by providing a large van driven by Puff who drove us safely on our 5 hour tour of the island. Elton and Puff took us to many sights we would not have found had we rented a car on our own. Elton provided interesting facts about the island and happily answered all of our questions. We saw the national park, swam with the turtles, drove to see the flamingos, ate fresh snapper at a local restaurant with outdoor seating and a spectator view of the sea.

  Hiroshi is very knowledgeable on Japan history and does give good English commentary on the places we visited. He brought us to Nagoya Castle, Tokugawa Museum, Osu shopping district and the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology.   Awesome. Out guide, Redouan, was fantastic - the tour had everything you'd want or need to experience Marrakesh. The food we tasted was the best we had during out whole week and beat El Fenn for authentic cous cous.   Noureddine is a very experienced and professional guide. His German and English are fluent. We had a very good conversation. He knows the history very well and could explain a lot. We booked a private Tour from Sidi Bou Saïd. Noureddine picked us up from the hotel with his car and showed us Karthago, la Goulette and Tunis city with Medina.   We spent a day with Cesar and he could not have been more accommodating to us! He was great! We booked the Cenotes and Ruins tour. Cesar was very helpful in helping us pick which cenotes would best suit what we were looking for as we don't like crowds. Then he suggested the same for some less crowded Mayan ruins.   We visited Iguazu Falls on the Brazil side with Marcelo. This was our second experience with Tours By Locals (yesterday we visited with another guide on the Argentina side). Marcelo is very passionate and have so much knowledge about plants and animals. He can spot small insects and showed us amazing things.   Our family of three took two tours with Patricia and enjoyed them both immensely. Patricia has a wealth of knowledge about her home, Rapa Nui, and shares it with enthusiasm. You will learn a lot about what you are seeing on the tour, including a wealth of background information and history. Our time in the quarry at Rano Raraku on the Easter Island Wonders tour was one of the absolute highlights of our trip (with, again, Patricia giving us so much information during our walk). We also found her to be flexible and accommodating as she helped us out by stopping at a pharmacy and grocery store. With so many tours available in Rapa Nui, it is hard to know which to book. We relied on the reviews we saw about Patricia and are glad to give her another five star rating. You will have a great experience on any of her tours.

  Alex was a wonderful tour guide. He managed to keep both the adults and children entertained during the entire tour. The information he shared was wonderful and was not necessarily the history that most of us from the USA have read about. I would 100% book another tour with him.   Carlos gave us the ultimate Panama experience for our 8 hour layover! He was super knowledgeable and helpful and went went the extra mile. We did the Gatun Lake tour with Monkey Island.   What an incredible tour with Maike! She met me at my hotel and we spent several hours walking through Malaga. Her knowledge of the history was impressive and her stories were delightful sharing glimpses into what makes the culture of Malaga so special. She also took me to Ronda and shared many regional insights along the way. Maike is also a warm and caring person who makes you feel welcome. You are in very good hands with her as your guide.

  We loved our day with Fredi our guide. He was always helping us with the equipment and informing us of the plan ahead. He is very knowledgeable about the area and Japan in general so we enjoyed having conversations with him and asking him questions. It is clear that he is generous with his time and kind in his manner. He is an excellent driver so we felt very safe being driven to the various activities. Our safety and enjoyment was very important to him! A memorable day thanks Fredi

  Truly amazing experience - we loved every moment of this tour with Robbie. We're huge fans of the books and movies - a big factor in choosing Aotearoa New Zealand for our honeymoon. It's not easy to find/reach all these locations on your own so a guide will really save a lot of work. And Robbie - with his thoughtfulness, attention to detail, flexibility, and experience on the movies - is the absolute best you could wish for. Lovely guy and really knowledgeable. We couldn't recommend this tour more highly!

  Paul took over when our guide was unable to make his commitment. We were very comfortable with him driving us to and through the Imfolozi Game Reserve. He drove tirelessly through the reserve in search of as many animals as he could find. We saw an amazing number of elephants & giraffes. He was extremely knowledgeable of the region, the people and the animals. We found our tour to be thorough and extremely interesting. It was one of the highlights of our trip. It was a rare and wonderful experience.
