  Our group of four had a fabulous, full day tour of Malta with Joseph M. He and his driver arrived promptly at the agreed upon location in a very comfortable van. Joseph was organized and very knowledgeable. His overview of Malta history was both informative and engaging. He planned our day, with breaks, perfectly and went out of his way to accommodate our particular needs. We ended the road tour with a boat tour of the Valletta harbour. It was a wonderful ending to an excellent day of touring.

  We were 3 adults, one is a senior citizen with mobility issues, however, Eduardo was so very attentive and thoughtful with his tour. 2 of us don't speak Spanish and 1 does and Eduardo was accommodating to both. His tour was extremely informative. He took us to a wonderful restaurant on the water for lunch and got us back to our ship with plenty of time. I can't recommend him enough!

  Wow - a spectacular tour. Martin curated a specialty tour for our group of baroque music fans, that highlighted the buildings, history of the people and places still visible (or rebuilt) of 18th-century Berlin. All the while he also pointed out details of recent, older and present history, and added his own thoughts and humor in the most charming and entertaining way. We all ended up on Gendarmenmarkt on a fine March day, and Martin joined for a bite to eat and a beer. Highly recommended!

  Jamel was a very knowledgeable, helpful, and kind tour guide who made this trip so enjoyable! He was a very helpful resource in the planning of our trip and was very open to any small changes to the itinerary along the way. He always had suggestions for places to stay, shop, and eat with the best views. He answered all our questions and showed interest in us as well which made the exchange of information and time in the car together pass quickly. We HIGHLY recommend him!

  My husband and I enjoyed an unforgettable day with Miguel; our private tour to Nazure', Sintra, and Cascais exceeded our expectations. Miguel is very personable, has a fun sense of humor, and went out of his way to accommodate us. His passion for his country, its history, and his football team were contagious, and we are looking forward to another visit to Portugal.

  Elizabeth is friendly, punctual, and patient. Her English is excellent and she describes everything very well. Even though the family we originally planned to have lunch with had a flood at their restaurant, she made alternative plans for us and paid for a more expensive lunch. She stayed close to us during the tours of the marketplace and made us feel safe. She translated for us as needed which was very helpful. She has a good relationship with locals and the places we visited. Thank you so much!

  Highly recommend Henry.. the tour of the Carara national park was fun, thorough and informative, the guide through the countryside was great, and we really enjoyed the lunch spot he chose in the mountains. The tour was a happy immersion into the local culture. Henry showed and told us all sorts of interesting things along the way. He was courteous, entertaining, and a made the experience a pleasure for the whole family.

  You never know up front what to expect when you remotely choose one person from a choice of many. This was a Sales Reward trip for our top performers, so I was hoping for the very best but would have been happy as long as it was 'good enough'. Martha exceeded my hopes and expectations by miles! She is not only super knowledgeable about Charleston, her deep love and passion for the city and it's true and accurate history was evident in every word and every step of the tour. Look no further than Martha!

  It was very easy to book a tour with Toursbylocals. I received confirmation by email and my guide Gianluca was in touch with me immediately to plan our tour. He responded very quickly to all of my questions. Gianluca was the best. He was very informative of the area, answered all of our questions, translated, and was flexible and very patient. We had a very long day with a tour of ostuni, Alberobello, and locorotondo and a fabulous cooking class at the end. Great day!!   We spent 4 days with Mr. Sotath exploring Siem Reap and the Kulen Mountain. He was delightful. He is a good driver, respectful, highly accommodating, flexible and super attentive to younger children's safety. He smiles a lot, his English is good and he is super knowledgeable of his country's culture and Buddhist / Hindu philosophy. One of our destinations wasn't open yet but that didn't stop Mr. Sotath. He organized an impromptu private mediation & interview with local monks; a memory for a lifetime! We recommend Mr. Sotath to anyone interested in Buddhism and families. Thank you, Mr. Sotath.   Mari's tour was fantastic. She and a driver picked us up from our hotel and for 2 hours while they drove us to the monastery she talked to us about Georgian history, culture, and her own history and pride in her work. She took us on a short hike to a view of the monastery, and then around the grounds, while giving great info about the site. We finished with a fantastic, filling lunch in the home of a local woman who showed my kids how to make khachapuri and kubdari. A unique and wonderful experience!

  From our first interaction Josh was easy to work with, enthusiastic, incredibly knowledgeable and prepared to tailor our tour to perfectly match our interests. We didn't know much about the Boston area, and to say Josh was exceptional is an understatement! Museums, walking tours, restaurant recommendations, fun facts & a lot of laughs made our tour enjoyable & easy! Only downside - Josh isn't a tour guide for every city - 5/5 stars! All 3 of us were delighted with our first tours by local experience!

  Tour of Mazatlan with Mr. Jorge Figueroa We were on a cruise of the Mexican Riveria, first stop was at Purta Vallara, the tour was through the ship and very disappointing, so I was concerned. My goodness did Jorge deliver. He such a good guide, what a wealth of information. This tour was the best part of the whole 8 days except for all the free Scotch. He took very good care of us and was a perfect gentleman. Mazatlan is a beautiful city that is 500 years old, the pride that Jorge has in his city is very apparent. Because of him I will use Tours by Locals again to receive the depth of knowledge that they bring to the game. We did the City tour and he hit all the top spots.The Cathedral is wonderful, Mercado, Clift Divers, Colorful houses, the Golden Zone, Marnia .. We had a delightful lunch is a very nice restaurant and enjoyed the waves and even music. Jorge had us back on the ship at the proper time. Thank you, Anna

  My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 hour historical Boston tour with guide Peter Brennan on 4/17/22. He is a wealth of information about the history of Boston, and he is extremely pleasant to be with for the 3 hours. We would highly recommend him to anyone visiting Boston.   With Tommy you are in good hands exploring Bangkok! We did Wat Pho, Grand Palace and then walked the city for delicious food around the flower market and Chinatown after taking a Thai boat trip through the canals of old town. If spicy food is not yours, don't worry. Tommy will find good stuff for you.

  Highly recommend a tour with Adiel! He is very informative, friendly and gracious and we had a wonderful tour with him. He made sure we ( a group of five people from 11 yrs to 73 years old) were comfortable, gave plenty of time for breaks and stops when needed and even showed us a few extra things not advertised on the tour itinerary. I would highly recommend the City of David tour with Adiel to anyone visiting Jerusalem.

  Roger was a fantastic guide. Very informative, funny and entertaining. A little too much history at times, ended up having us sit at one stop for a bit too long, and we did not end up getting out at all so it was a lot of riding for 2.5 hours. We badly needed a restroom break by the end! Although we'd asked to be done at a certain time due to a tight schedule, he did run over which caused us to be late. But we would absolutely have him guide us again and we'd plan the itinerary better to alleviate issues.

  We did a private tour with Juan and we are so glad we did. Monte Alban is an important archeological site and he more than does it justice. He is extremely knowledgeable and brings history alive. He also goes above and beyond to make sure his clients have a great experience and is very considerate of their needs and wishes. We look forward to seeing Juan on our next trip to Oaxaca!

  We did the Vimy Ridge and Battle of the Somme tour with Frédéric and we had an amazing day. His knowledge of the battlefields and allows you to imagine the horrible experiences that these men went through. Frédéric also managed to find information about our relatives who fought during these battles and allowed us the follow in their footsteps. Overall an amazing experience that would not have been possible without his knowledge and understanding of the battlefields. I highly recommend this tour!

  Incredible experience! Saul and Louis gave us the best private VIP tour that we could ask for! Saul is been doing this for 15+ years apparently and everyone knew him during our stops! Which gave us that little extra special treatment on all sides!! He was also very knowledgeable to even the most difficult questions that I could come up with and always recommend great spot for pictures! I give this one a A+! Just exceptional!

  Chan is a consummate tour guide who arranged a tour to perfectly match my interests. Things went flawlessly due to Chan's attention to detail. Chan was both a superb guide and a superb teacher. He taught me so much about Sri Lankan culture and history. Thanks to Chan, I met a Buddhist nun, a fire-walker and a crab minister. I also encountered twin baby elephants, blue whales, a leopard, and an albino sea turtle. Chan even showed me an ancient Ayurvedic hospital. You cannot go wrong with Chan!

  Richard was fantastic! He helpfully answered all my questions during the planning and suggested other sites my husband and I might be interested in visiting. His experience, extensive knowledge of the area, friendliness, and fun personality made our James Bond tour an amazing adventure around Falmouth and Ocho Rios. I cannot say enough great things about Richard, and when we visit Jamaica again, my husband and I will definitely book another tour with him. :)

  We had a wonderful day touring Castelmola and Taormina with Chiara. She is very knowledgeable and personable. She took us to the must see Ancient Greek /Roman theatre and through the wonderful towns and sites. She is also very accommodating! Our cruise changed ports at the last minute due to weather and she and her driver drove an extra 100+ kilometers to pick us up and drop us off at the replacement port. The Mercedes' can very comfortable. Highly recommend!

  Outstanding! My husband and I could not have asked for a more knowledgeable, gracious, and engaging guide through Old Jerusalem.   Elizabeth was an outstanding guide. Thoroughly knowledgeable about her city, its history, culture, cuisine and much more.   With the PR1 route closed due to maintenance, our guide, Jorge, offered a similar high-level alternative in PR12, a hike up Pico Grande. Jorge was throughout, an excellent guide, offering insight on the history of the cross-island path, the flora and fauna. He is also an accomplished photographer and forwarded to us a number of good photos after the hike. We felt safe throughout on what is a fairly technical hike in places. Jorge is an excellent guide and we can highly recommend his services.

  We had a great experience with Meir, our local guide in Jerusalem, which was a knowledgeable, passionate and friendly guide who dedicated more time than planned to us and had us have a great day.   Awesome trip to Tulum ruins and the Cenote - taak bi ha, followed by a delicious local lunch. We originally wanted to go a bit later but super glad when Fernando heavily suggested to be picked up no later than 8am. So glad we did earlier as we missed the massive crowds of tourists and the crazy heat. Our guide Jhony was awesome! Top notch. He did a great job at the ruins with his knowledge and information and snorkeling in the Cenote was just amazing. Highly recommend Jhony as a guide! Best day!

  Wonderful tour guide!!! Brenda was super quick in responding to my questions before the tour. She was at the appointed meeting place on time. On our snorkeling tour she was very patient and helpful. After snorkeling she took us on a tour of the island. She really knows all about Bonaire both current times and the history of the island. I highly recommend Brenda as a tour guide. She has a great personality and is fun to be with as well as being a fantastic guide.

  Diego is great! He is very knowledgeable and adaptable. Always kept the conversation flowing and good at reading our energy/interest level. Really enjoyed the tour of Tequilas Selectos and his recommendation for lunch in Tequila. Chapala and Ajijic were great! Need to go back there. More cantaritos please! Highly recommend. Don’t be afraid to share your likes/dislikes so he can design the best private tour for you.

  Through all the years of traveling around the world with my kids (30+ countries on 6 continents), Raul is the best tour guide we ever had, very knowledgeable, honest, patient and passionate about what he does. Everyone in the family (3 kids 17, 13, 4) loved him. Knowing Raul is definitely one of the highlights of our trip! Thank you Raul, we will be back!

  Justin loves his city and he showed us all the great parts. He is a walking history book. He told us so many great stories about Baltimore including key personalities and figures that made the city what it is today. He timed everything perfectly allowing us to get into Ft McHenry and see the movie and walk into the Peabody museum. He dealt with our specific needs very well and made special stops for us when we wanted to see additional buildings. He even made sure we'd end up at a good lunch restaurant.

  5 Stars!! If I could give her 100 stars, I would!! Elizabeth was an amazing guide and someone I rate beyond excellent. She set up a trip for my girlfriend and I from the Galapagos to several adventurous cities on the mainland of Ecuador. She promptly answered any and all questions prior to the trip and helped us wade through many different trip options. Upon arrival, she was there for us from beginning to end. Fun, easygoing, smart, and so very knowledgeable. Overall, a wonderful experience!!

  My friends and I all agree that our tour to Coba with Diego was the highlight of our trip to the Riviera Maya! It was nice to travel as our own small group, and not with dozens or hundreds of other people. Not only knowledgeable, Diego is kind, curious, and passionate about his work. We especially appreciate that he supports the local indigenous community and highlights them in his tours. Upon sharing photos of our amazing tour with friends, I have already recommended Diego to several of them!

  Diego did a fantastic job with our tour to Tonala and Tlaquepaque. He based the day on our particular interests. We visited a studio with world class ceramicists; got a local feel for the large Tonala Sunday market; visited several amazing galleries and museums; and explored both towns in a relaxed and enjoyable way. Diego provided just the right amount of information about the area, culture, food, daily life and history. I highly recommend Diego for any Guadalajara/Tonala/Tlaquepaque tour.

  Kabelo is the dream tour guide: extremely knowledgeable, affable, knows everyone everywhere he goes, and charming. He took us around the Cape of Good Hope, stopping just where we wanted to go, providing incisive context to the culture, animals, monuments, towns and nature, all at a relaxed but efficient pace. I would highly recommend him for any tour you're lucky enough to snag.

  Elizabeth was a wonderful guide. Very friendly, warm and knowledgeable. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to tour Quito. The itinerary she planned for me was the perfect way to discover the city, learn about its history and customs.

  Yvonne was great. We had one day to explore Nice and Monaco. I had two grandsons ages 10 and 13, and Yvonne was very flexible to include places of interest to them. We packed a lot into the day - maybe too much so - but Yvonne knew where to go and the best way to include our requests. We visited the Roman ruins in Nice, which was of high interest to my 10-year old. We "ran" through the nearby Matisse Museum, to catch a few highlights. She even got us into Monaco's city hall and got our passports stamped!

  Yasin took us on a really wonderful tour of the Theodosian walls, the Tekfur Palace and the Mihrimah Sultan Mosque on December 16, 2021. His knowledge of Byzantine and Ottoman history is impeccable, and he pointed out several inscriptions and gateways that were fascinating and important. It was a real pleasure--we also stopped to admire Istanbul's many cats who haunt these sites, on the way. He was also flexible in terms of adapting the tour to our needs. Çok teşekkür ederim, Yasin!

  Absolutely superb tour with a very knowledgeable guide. Emelda, thank you very much!! Nothing was too much trouble for Emelda, she even took us to the beach of our choice ( Darkwood Beach) so we could finish the tour with a cooling swim. The tour consisted of all the major attractions of Antigua, including pick up from our hotel in Nonsuch Bay. We went to Betty's Hope, English Bay (Nelson's Dockyard and Shirley Heights) etc etc etc. All in all a fantastic tour with a fantastic host and very Covid safe.

  Our tour with Lores was simply outstanding. There is no way we could've found our own way through the city without a knowledgeable guide like her. We explored much more than just the roman ruins. We got to understand how the city developed over time, and visited places that otherwise we would've never known about. If you are visiting a place as special as Tarragona, do it right and book a guide. Lores was undeniably great. Thanks!

  My wife and I had the best day with Juan. It is a very unique experience and that includes great conversation, views, and food. He makes sure you always have whatever you need throughout the day. We had not ridden horses in many years but he gave simple instructions and made sure we were comfortable with the horses. This is a great value for the money!!

  The most important thing to note is that Armin is passionate about his love for Miami. He is well-versed in the history of the area and its diverse cultures. He made each part of the city come alive as he spoke. This was our first visit to Miami and we are so glad that we chose to take this tour. We would certainly have been floundering around if we had tried to go as many places and learn as many facts as Armin showed us. As a guide and as a person he is top-knotch. Truly enjoyable!

  Cheryl was so interesting and personable. She truly appealed to all the ages in our group--even the teenagers! Her knowledge bordered on encyclopedic, and she was lovely to answer so many of our questions with enthusiasm. We left our tour full of enthusiasm for the city and history of Bath---the mark of a truly gifted guide. She was also a lovely person with a fun sense of humor. I would highly recommend and hope to jump across the pond again to book her for another tour of the surrounding area.

  We requested a guide for the hike up the Tautau'a Valley to the Fachoda Waterfall. The tour included transportation to and from our hotel, permits and lunch. The hike was amazing. There are options but we took the upper branch through the Fachoda Fort to the top of the waterfall and I highly recommend this: for the view of the waterfall, the historic fort, and the swim in the pool at the top. We were glad to have a guide to help advise as to the best routes. Maxim was very informative and great company.

  Our tour with Kathryn was a toal delight as she filled us full of Charleston history & knowledge about the war. The plantation tour was especially interesting as we learned of the plight of the slaves.   The primary purpose for my trip to Sicily was to visit my grandfather's home town, find documents on his birth. I knew it would be easier if I worked with someone local.   Mohamed was an excellent and accommodating guide. He met us at the airport and handled everything. The tour was very informative and included a lot of facts and history about Malé. Mohamed kept us comfortable by trying to keep us in the shade and bought us a drink to keep us hydrated. If you want to learn about the history and culture of the Maldives then this is an excellent tour! Mohamed then arranged for us to go back to the airport and accompanied us to collect our luggage.   Our tour with Elena couldn't have been more enjoyable. She picked us up at our hotel and we spent the next 8 hours touring the sights of Kauai. She was so informative and took us to out-of-the-way places that we wouldn't have seen if we had been on our own. She was flexible and provided us choices of what to see and do - sightseeing in the Waimea Canyon, Nepali Coastline, Kauai Coffee Farm, coastal beaches for turtles and seals and even a little shopping!   I had a wonderful time learning about the history of the Presidents of Korea, and the palace. I got to see some old houses built in different styles and times, had a wonderful lunch and visited a cute chic neighborhood with lots of shopping and cafes and restaurants and a maze of tiny streets. It was nice to have somebody with me to explain things I would never have guessed on my own. Jiyoon was well versed in the areas we visited, and was able to answer any questions I had.

  We took the tour to Miami. The car was clean and comfortable, Massimiliano was friendly, flexible, precise and respectful. It was our first time in Miami and Massimiliano was able to give us an accurate picture of Miami, we loved that. At the same time we were looking forward a hint by an insider, little secrets that only someone that really lives the city would know, well, we got that too.   What a super tour! This is our third visit to Strasbourg, and we were finally ready to dig more deeply into its history. We asked for a comprehensive tour of the Cathedral, including the climb up the steps to the platform. Julia was very friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and thoughtful. She made sure we were in ideal location at the right time to enjoy the ultimate experience, specifically in order to avoid long lines and to see the astronomical clock. Perfect! Highly recommend!

  I couldn't have asked for a better guide than Elizabeth. Communication was excellent. Elizabeth was cheerful, friendly and  incorporated my likes into the day.   We highly recommend Cesar. He spent the day with us and was very flexible in adjusting our itinerary as the day progressed. We used his recommendation for a Cenote with over 20 to choose from. It was perfect. He even showed caves and nooks that no one else seemed to know about. We also used his recommendation for a place for lunch. Again, a perfect place on the beach.   I like customized private tours. They take you where you want to go arranging transportation (you don’t need to drive and waste time trying to find places), they explain and answer questions.
