  I just returned from a two month trek in Peru, Ecuador and Central America booked through a cruise company. The cruise company cancelled the calls to Peru and a pre to Machu Picchu due to covid so I took a shot in the dark with Tours By Locals. The journey began with your local guide Wilfredo Lopez in a multi-day tour to Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, etc. If I could rate Wilfredo Lopez higher than a 10 I would. He is outstanding. Thank you Tours By Locals for assigning this young man to my tour.

  Sogui made all of the arrangements for our family of 6: lodging, transportation, and meals. He was extremely flexible and patient as we made numerous changes to our schedule and itinerary, right up to the last minute. He took us to some amazing places and helped us see more than 175 species of birds and have many unforgettable up-close encounters with mammals and reptiles too! And he is extremely knowledgeable about the people and culture of Senegal—we really learned a lot from Sogui.

  Bethany was extremely knowledgeable, having grown up in Savannah. She expressed a perspective that was very educational. She is fun to be around, shares details freely, and provides information from the black community that is not found in the history books. We learned the history of Savannah's monuments, gardens, buildings, architecture, commerce, movie-making sites, and struggles. We had a wonderful time!

  My tour with Bethany was beyond FABULOUS! I cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience. Bethany has encyclopedic knowledge of Savannah, as she was born and raised here. She is affable, incredibly smart, personable, full of fantastic stories... the list goes on and on. I arranged a private tour with her because there were very specific sites I wanted to see in Savannah and on Tybee Island. She was accommodating in every way! I HIGHLY recommend a tour with her!

  Julia was great! I had already read a couple books about the Mayas so I wanted a guide who would knew more than the basics. She exceeded my expectations, giving a lot of interesting information about what we saw, answering many of my questions, and debunking popular myths about the Mayas. I recommend scheduling any visit of Mayan archeological site to start at the opening of the site, due to the heat of the Yucatan peninsula.

  = Gie Gie and her husband were awesome . She allowed me to book this tour last minute and I was so grateful . She took us to 3 of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen all on the same island . They also took us to other stops on the island for photos and shopping . I would highly recommend booking this tour !!!! We were picked up and dropped off on time from our cruise terminal and the van was extremely nice and comfortable . Thank you again Gie Gie for an unforgettable tour !!!!

  We, a family of 5 in Luxor on January 4, 2022, visited the Valley of the Kings and Karnak. Our guide was Ahmed S of tour by locals. He made the tour a fascinating experience. Some logistical issues required last-minute replanning which he flexible rearranged. His explanations of ancient Egypt were clear and easy to understand, also for the children. His knowledge of Egyptian history, the discovery of the tombs and the pharaohs and Karnak was profound. We enjoyed listening to the explanations

  We enjoyed a lot our tour with Sebastian. It was informative and interesting. Sebastian was attentive to our requests. We spent a very nice day together and learnt a lot about the area and the country. The car was great, clean and comfortable, which is also important on a long excursion and in the mountains. I strongly recommend this guide. You will definitely enjoy your time with Sebastian.

  Diogo was great at customizing our tour. We were in Sao Paulo on New Year's day. Even though many things were closed, he made sure we were able to see many amazing things and have a delicious traditional Feijoada. I liked that he made it possible for me to visit some places I remember when growing up in Sao Paulo as a child. Diogo was very knowledgeable about the history of Brazil and Sao Paulo. He planned a good mix of history and modern events that kept the interest of my 19 year old daughter.

  Bryan is a professional. He is always on time and does exactly what is spelled out on the itinerary. Our family had a great time visiting Moray salt mines, Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo and everything was planned out really well by Bryan. We were not rushed and had our time every evening to relax.   The tour that Armin provided us was perfect for the time that we had to spend in Miami. From being early to the port to begin our tour so we did not have to wait, making adjustments as needed, and getting us to the airport on time, the day was great. Armin is very knowledgeable and really loves his city of Miami. We were amazed at the variety and depth of information he provided on our tour. If we are in Miami again, we would hope to take another of his tours.

  Thanks Marcela for an absolutely unique insight into this beautiful spot on earth. Having a personal guide that considered all of our personal preferences was incredible: the punctual pick-up from the ferry, a coffee break, a stop at a private Maya home to buy souvenirs ... The trip was cleverly pre-planned, i.e. when to go where to avoid big crowds of tourists, which temples and cenotes to choose that are on the route, but not too well known, thus, secret spots only a local knows. Informative + great fun

  We had the BEST time with Ben! His English was excellent. Our family loved how Ben explained the history and cultural significance of the ruins. He provided a thorough explanation of the ruins during our drive (with pictures from his laptop) before we arrived so that we knew what to look for and could recognize what he was pointing out during our tour at the ruins. Ben's tour was interactive and fun. I wish I had booked additional tours with him. Book with Ben, you will not regret it.

  Juan Pablo was the most fantastic guide! He's incredibly knowledgeable, on time, perfect English and I had the best tour of baños with him. I highly recommend him when coming to Quito - his tour will be the highlight of your trip!!! Would rate 10 stars if I could. Gracias Juan Pablo!!

  Martin took us all over Miami. It was a great tour! He is knowledgeable about the driving, the people and the area. We got to see Miami Beach, downtown, Brickell, South Beach, Wynwood, Design District and Little Havana. We really enjoyed the tour.

  We had a fantastic day out with Benjamin. He picked us up from our hotel and immediately asked our likes and interests so he could tailor the stops towards what we wanted to do. He offered information about the country and its history, and answered all our questions about everything from bitcoin to politics. We would definitely take another tour with him and would recommend him to anyone else as well. The Ruta de la Flores is a great trip on the weekends when all the markets are on.

  Our tour guide Melad was excellent! He explained the history of all the temples we have visited today very very well. Many historical stories related to the ancient Egyptian pharaohs, so interesting and never boring. I highly recommend him for your tour.

  I cannot say enough about Gary! I feel blessed to have found him. I had a very unique request and he (and his wife) went out of their way to accommodate me. He is trustworthy, incredibly knowledgeable, kind, has a great sense of humor, and he's right on top of things. If 10 stars were an option, I'd give a 10 star rating. If you find yourself in Israel and want a once in a lifetime experience, book a tour with Gary. Great guy!

  Susana is awesome! She took us to beautiful Toledo, and we had a great time. We were able to customize what we wanted to see, had a local meal, and learnt a great deal about Spanish history! She even gave us restaurant recommendation on our way back to Madrid which finished our day amazingly! We highly recommend her

  Sayuri is a great tour guide and a wonderful person. Our group greatly enjoyed our virtual Black History tour of Bahia. Sayuri pointed out a number of buildings, monuments and sites throughout the town. However, our group really enjoyed the people she introduced to us. She made her Town feel like home. Everyone felt like they were speaking to a very, very knowledgeable friend. While Sayuri may not have been an old friend, she certainly is a new one! We highly recommend her tour!

  Baris is both extremely well spoken and knowledgeable and was able to clearly explain many historical facts that were important for me to understand. Baris was very flexible, giving me complete freedom to spend as little or as long at all sights as we deemed necessary and was fantastic with my young (5) daughter who was less interested in the whole tour! Highly recommend Baris for anyone looking for a great tour guide

  I am so glad I found Tours By Locals. John was great! He was friendly, welcoming and so easy-going. What hooked me in was the Elvis part of the tour but there's so much more. We learned so much about the history of the city, the people and what made/makes this incredible city like no other. John also offered great suggestions on restaurants, hotels and other points of interest. This was a great experience and we will definitely take another tour with John on our next visit

  Laura exceeded our expectations with her knowledge, ability to interact with everyone in our group and her ability to seamlessly change our tour to suit everyone's needs. I've been on many birding tours and Laura is by far the best! She has a great eye and ear for birds and a special ability to engage us with all forms of nature in the cloud forest. Although we were a diverse group she met each and every one's needs. This tour will remain in our memories forever!

  Carlos was a fantastic tour guide. He is full of very helpful information and made our entire tour unforgettable. Even before our tour, he recommended the most amazing hotel we have ever stayed in. On the second day, when we needed to make some changes in our itinerary, he was very flexible and showed us things that probably most Mexicans never have a chance to see. I highly recommend Carlos.

  We had an amazing tour of Cholula and Puebla with Juan and Edgar. Juan is a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. In Cholula, first we toured the pyramid site where he discussed the ancient civilizations. Then we went to see an amazing church, Santa Maria Tonantzintla. It was a well hidden gem. In Puebla, he introduced as to the oldest Library in the Americas, Biblioteca Palafoxiana, that has an amazing collection of manuscripts dating from the 15th century. We highly recommend Juan

  We had the pleasure of having a tour of Santa Fe with Miguel . The tour was excellant. He gave us a detailed over view of the history of the City of Santa Fe and then we proceeded with a walking tour of the highlights of the City. Overall it was an informative and delightful experience.

  Juan Pablo is an awesome guide. We had a great time in Quito with Juan. He is very knowledgeable, courteous and accommodating. He explained the history, culture and customs of Ecuador while showing us all the great sites. He went out of his way to arrange a side trip to a Rose farm at last minute. His car is comfortable for 4 people. His english is quite good. We highly recommend Juan for Quito tour.

  Spoke to Aaron via email before the trip and agreed some of the finer points. Booked three of us onto the trip to the Pyramids. Aarons English is excellent and he guided us around the TEOTIHUACÁN site including the pyramids of the sun and moon. The site is amazing if your interested in history. The travelling was around 3hrs each way. We had lunch at La Gruta which is a restaurant in a cave on site which I'd recommend. Brilliant day out.

  Daniel gave us a great tour with some challenging conditions. A literal gale force snow made Stonehenge even more unique than it already is! Our train to Bath was delayed and he adjusted the schedule effortlessly. Daniel is very knowledgeable and personable. With us having some prior knowledge of Bath, he made sure to hit the places we wanted to see as well as introduce us to many new ones. A great day trip from London. Highly recommended.

  The booking was easy and a very efficient process. We booked 3 trips and the guides responded in a very timely fashion. We had Vivian V and Juanfe D as our guides. Both are very professional, courteous, accommodating and their English excellent. Their local knowledge is fantastic. We enjoyed spending our time with them and learned a lot about Ecuador. We travelled with them Nov, 15, Nov 19, Nov 20. I liked that you book with the company on their website but once the guide accepts the request one deals with the guide from then on personally via emails and this basically establishes a rapport with them before hand.

  Victor was a fantastic Tour guide, very knowledgeable, prompt, and had a great personality. He picked us up and dropped us back off at our downtown DC hotel. We did a tour of the mansion which is a must!! Victor also escorted us past the slaver quarters, carriage house, and George and Martha's Tomb then on to the museum. It was a total of four hours round trip, so, we didn't get to spend as much time in the museum as I would like and absolutely no time in the gift shop. I would recommend a longer tour.

  Gerard was excellent as a private guide. He was incredibly flexible in accommodating the needs of our multigenerational group. He showed a good balance between sharing his knowledge while also allowing us to quietly enjoy the beautiful scenery around us.

  We had a great time on our tour with Jaime. He took us to parts of Miami that we had not seen, and provided very interesting commentary not only on the sights but also what it is like living in Miami. We booked the tour because we had extra time due to our late flight home from a cruise, and this was the perfect way to make an interesting day of it.

  My son and I had a fantastic day with Bassam. Despite a very rainy day, we felt like we really got a sense of the city and the current geopolitical situation. Bassam was incredibly knowledgeable, balanced, and funny, and knows the city and its history inside and out. I wish we had more than a day with him! We will be back...there's still Jericho and Hebron and so much else left to explore. Can't imagine a better tour guide. Hire him - you won't regret it.

  Not only was Bianca an exceptional tour guide with deep knowledge of Palermo and its history, but she also arranged a car and driver to pick me up at the Palermo airport, look after my luggage, and return me to the airport to meet my family. Awesome service! I also had the opportunity to eat Sicilian street food and delicious pastries. Bianca is a guide I would recommend highly, and Palermo a city to fall in love with.

  John was an excellent tour guide ! We interrupted his normal tour by doing the Sun studio tour the day before but he adjusted and included elements of his other tours . His description of the circumstances around the assignation of Martin Luther King are outstanding . You cannot do better than John in Memphis .

  We had a great day with Tomas who is a very knowledgeable, friendly and courteous tour guide as well as a very safe driver. He speaks excellent English, listened to our every need and custom designed the tour according to our wishes. We appreciated that there were no surprise stops at any tourist shops or restaurants as we had experienced on tours with other guides. Highly recommend Tomas's services and looking forward to a future tour with him one day soon hopefully.

  Highly recommend Bethany for those who want the "inside scoop" on Savannah. Bethany's vast knowledge of Savannah's colorful history is rivaled only by her first-hand knowledge from growing up in the town and her ability to bring those stories to life. Bethany also adapted our tour based on our interests. Her personality was super friendly and made the experience truly special.

  Our day in Toledo was very enjoyable. The time flew by and was over all too soon. We asked many questions of Juan, about Toledo but also Spain in general, and there wasn't one that stumped him. He happily tailored the tour and timings to suit or day and train times. His English was excellent and we have no hesitation in recommending him to you.

  My husband and I booked Vera as our guide for a full day tour of Ghent and Bruges. She was excellent. She was patient when we took the wrong train and arrived late, and set our walking tour at a pace that allowed us to enjoy the numerous sights as well as take in her wonderful commentary. She has a broad knowledge of the history of each town and presents it in small, time appropriate portions that bring each place to life. We recommend her very highly.

  Our trip to Panama would not have been the same without Clemente. He was knowledgeable, personal, professional and we felt like we were with a long time friend or family member throughout our trip. Our driver Saul was very kind and most importantly he got us around town in a timely and safe manner. The Monkey Jungle tour was one of our favorites. The interaction with the monkeys was priceless, the journey through the jungle on the water peaceful and full of beautiful scenery. Book this tour!

  I can't say enough good things about Jason. He's extremely knowledgeable and really knows how to place detail into a broad and well considered perspective. He's a great storyteller too! I love walking tours and have been on many. Jason is among the best tour guides I have ever experienced.

  Barbara was fabulous. We had an 11 hour layover. She met us at the airport and took us on a lovely tour of old town Frankfurt. Left us at a delightful restaurant for lunch. It was a perfect way to spend time in Frankfurt.

  Teona was fabulous! It was my first time in Georgia, so needed guidance in learning the ins and outs of the area for my stay. From airport transfer to local shops vs larger markets to bath houses to tourist traps to the natural and architectural gems...during our excursion I gained so much valuable knowledge to be used throughout.   Raul was a wonderful guide who was helpful, flexible, and full of answers to our many questions! He helped us try various fruits and treats at the local market. He also suggested that we go to the cenote first so we could have it all to ourselves...and it was empty! Plus - his suggestions for lunch were wonderful.   Carlo was an absolute joy to walk through Bari with - informative, friendly, and with a good sense of humor. One of the true highlights was his setting up a tour for us the next day at the Pallazzo dell'Acquedotto. Not only would we not have known about this otherwise, we would not likely have been able to navigate the site. While that tour was all in Italian, it was a not to be missed experience. Carlo gave us a solid grounding in Bari's history along with some great restaurant recommendations.

  Monterrey is a city surrounded by breathtakingly rugged and beautiful mountains and this tour offers the possibility to experience them up close in the popular Parque Ecológico Chipinque. The hike is through pine-oak forests with late season wildflowers and butterflies overhead. At the turn-around point, Hotel Chipinque, hikers are rewarded with 180 degree views of the city below. I highly recommend Cesar as a tour guide, his friendly and informative conversation made the tour extra-enjoyable.

  Donald was a very kind man, and so very knowledgeable about all things Salem. Our tour was for two hours and was supposed to start at 2 PM, however, we underestimated the time it would take to get into Salem in October. The crowds were every bit as big as Times Square at New Year. There was literally no parking available in all of Salem. So, Donald had us park in his driveway - so kind. The tour was awesome, and we highly recommend Donald to anyone wanting an immersive tour of Salem.

  Charbel gave me a one on one, full day tour of Beirut. His knowledge of Beirut and Lebanon, from before the Phoencians up until the present day is encyclopedic. His presentation of the places and people made you feel as if you were experiencing them in real time. He is a wonderful story teller and a charming guy. Next time I'm in Lebanon, I'll definitely contact him for tours of Baalbek and other historical places. I highly recommend him.

  Alessandra was delightful and tried very hard to show us the best of Varenna and Bellagio in the pouring rain. It turns out that it was a record setting day for rain at Lake Como and she remained positive, fun and informative. We did end up cancelling our private boat tour for obvious reasons but she did her best to point out different sites from the ferry. We loved Melzi Gardens in Bellagio and the Lover's Walk in Varenna. Some day, we hope to return in the sunshine (LOL).

  We met Ted for the "Boston Walking Tour: The Revolution in Ninety Minutes" tour. Ted is a fantastic guide. He kept all of us entertained and interested: including a "being bored is cool" 13-year-old, my husband (who likes history in small doses), and myself, a writer and avid reader of history.   We traveled to Umbrië with 15 friends. Some of us had seen Assisi before, but Maura gave us a whole new experience! She tells the story of St Franciscus as an Netflix-series: exciting and personal. She also has tremendous knowledge of art and history of Umbrië and bedazzled us with facts and figures about the rich history of Assisi. She really made the place come alive!   We had a wonderful 2-day tour of Bulgaria with Ilian. On Day 1 he picked us up at our hotel in Varna where we visited several local attractions and had lunch at the harbor. On Day 2 he drove us to Veliko Tarnovo, where we did a walking tour and then drove to other areas of the city. Ilian was very pleasant, spoke perfect English and was very knowledgeable of both cities. He was a safe driver and very flexible with our schedule. We couldn't have asked for a better guide in Bulgaria.

  Sara gave us a 3 hour walking tour of Coimbra, focused heavily on the university -- at our request --along with highlights of the city. She had pre-purchased tickets for the key sites, which sped us along. Sara's knowledge of the university and its history, along with personal insights of having attended the university, were invaluable.   Francesco was a warm and very knowledgeable guide. Ours was the "Foodie" Tour but his knowledge of the city history made the trip interesting. We really enjoyed all the tastings he lined up for us especially the meat and wine tasting and differences between the aging process with five quality parmesan cheeses. His tour was one of the highlights of what he said was not the "normal American tourist" places and choices. I wish we would have had more time in Bologna - a great city.

  We were a group of six adults, including two young men with autism. It was our first visit to Croatia, and we were all excited about our trip to Plitvice Lakes. Rafaella made the trip a very memorable experience. She made sure we saw the most exciting waterfalls and dramatic scenery. She was patient and kind with our sons' disabilities. Her English was excellent and she gave us good tips on sights to see in Zagreb as well.

  We had a simply wonderful tour with Tadhg. We toured the beautiful, wild Connemara including Kylemore Abbey and it's gardens as a highlight. We ate lunch at a gem of a restaurant in the village of Clifden. But more than just the sights and food, Tadhg taught us about Irish history, about the nature of Ireland AND he gave us insights on modern Ireland. It was a deep and rich and unforgettable experience.

  Rosebell is an outstanding guide. There were things from a couple of her tours that I wanted to do, so she fully customized my day according to what I wanted.
