  Rohan was absolutely brilliant. He made the trip a truly memorable personal experience. It was not a tour given to everyone. He went out of his way to ensure we had the best views and private look outs. Even though the weather could have put a dampener on the day, Rohan went above and beyond to ensure this did not happen. I would recommend booking this tour especially if you want a personal experience based solely on your wants and needs.

  Pablo is a thoughtful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide with an excellent command of English. He met us at our Salta hotel the night before the tour so we could start early for a full day with many miles to cover. He was full of information about Argentina as well as our destinations -Purmamarca (with its spectacular landscape) and the impressive Grandes Salinas - and his easy conversation made the distances pass quickly. We considered the tour good value for money and highly recommend him.

  Javier was an excellent tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about the Torres del Paine National park & the surrounding area! We did the 1 day hike to the base of Torres del Paine & via coordination, was able to extend it to a night camping & an extra day of smaller hikes. He provided all the camping equipment and made all the plans. Javier was responsive throughout the planning process. I highly recommend Javier as a guide, we could not have had the complete experience if we hadn't worked with him.

  Myself and a friend absolutely loved our half day tour with Noura. She was very knowledgeable and showed us the highlights of the city. We had a lovely morning and it was a great way to kickstart our stay in Marrakech. I would highly recommend a tour with Noura!

  A great tour of Warsaw in the limited time I had available (a layover of 5 hours total). Marta was very knowledgeable, spoke good English and was great to get on with. Was on time at the airport for a 7am pick up and got me back in time for my return flight. Especially enjoyed the UNESCO listed 'old town' of Warsaw. Marta told me that it was warm for Warsaw in January (3 degrees) - coming from Australia it was more than cold enough for me! A worthwhile experience.

  We found booking through “Tours by Locals” an easy and excellent experience recommending it highly. On the Tours by Locals website, we (4 of us) contacted Carlos and had a great day with him as our guide. We knew right away his love of his home as he called Funchal, Madeira Island his little paradise. Our tour was an experience that can only be seen through the eyes of a local guide. Carlos’s knowledge of the history of Funchal, the area of Madeira Island along with his love of his city made it a wonderful one in every way. Due to a mechanical issue, our ship was late in arriving. We were concerned emailing Carlos that morning. He was aware of our delay and assured us that he would be waiting for us once the ship arrived and he was. What a nice day we had visiting Pico dos Barcelos, Cabo Girão from the Old Vineard Road, Santa Catarina Park, a walk in the city center, the Municipal Garden, the Town Hall Square and Colegio’s Church. We even had time to shop and have lunch with him at his family’s favorite eatery Londres Restaurant where we enjoyed an excellent array of different foods at his suggestion. So much was packed into a short time. The nicest touch was that he recapped our day that same afternoon in an email listing every place we experienced. What a great reminder once we returned home. We all agreed that we would not hesitate to book through “Tours by Locals” again in the future and would highly recommend that if you find yourself in Funchal, Madeira you look up Carlos on their website.

  David's tour was exceptional- the best snorkeling tour I have done! He is a very professional, personable, knowledgeable and kind guide who demonstrates his love for what he does. Every site we went to was spectacular with plenty of beautiful fish, coral, and scenery. The boat is very nice and comfortable. I couldn't recommend this trip more. You won't regret it!

  Our day with Michael was great! He is a real pro and made our day going around the ring of kerry special. He knows the best places to take his clients. We had a wonderful lunch with him at a great inn filled with locals eating great food. I will always remember this special day and am glad we were able to spend it with him. My wife and daughters enjoyed his company and have plenty of photos and videos of this special day.

  Adiel is a friendly guide, with an exemplary attitude to wanting you to get the very best out of your day. We met him earlier than normal for a visit to the Temple Mount (which we were fortunate to be able to enter) and carried on without a break for 8 hours, ending at Christ Church. Adiel answered all of the many questions we had, both openly and with clear and detailed knowledge. He made our first trip to Jerusalem a wonderful experience and I have no hesitation in recommending him.

  Gaby was a wonderful guide and I would highly recommend her. She was waiting for us with a sign when we disembarked. She spoke almost non-stop as we drove along describing the history and details of any points of interest. She invited questions and answered them all. She provided wonderful food and refreshments. She also customized our tour to what we were interested in. She is the best guide we have ever had.

  Mahmoud was an exceptional good guide. He showed everything we wanted to see and more. He is extremely knowledgeable in all subjects pertaining to Jordan but especially the history and archeology of Petra our particular interest. I will definitely use him again whenever we return to Jordan . I have already recommended him to friends who may need a guide in the near future. He was fabulous.

  Fabulous trek with Erin. She pulled off W trek with add on of horseback riding and extra hiking to new territory. Plus fantastic healthy meals ( lettuce, cabbage and cilantro salads, fresh eggs yummy oatmeal with fruit and nuts plus more) all with a smile and adventurous spirit. When I asked can we also do ...., she jumped in and made it happen. She is knowledgeable and fun. Highly recommend her to all. Outstanding guide

  Benjamin was an incredible tour guide. He was quite knowledgeable about Tulum, the history and surrounding area. Suggest you take his recommendation and leave early to beat the crowds. After the Tulum tour, we had a fantastic visit to a Cenote (can't remember which one) and a wonderful ocean side meal at a local restaurant. Between all these visits, we had plenty of "free" time to check local markets, do some of our own exploring. If you're reading this, do not hesitate to book any tour with Ben!

  Our Tours by Locals guide, Suneth, met us at the Grand Oriental Hotel to start our 2 hour walking tour of the city followed by completing the tour in a clean, air conditioned car to get to the places further away. Suneth provided a commentary for each site and after he had completed his commentary he left us alone to take in the atmosphere and to look around at our own pace. He sent an itinerary to us which we could have modified but all his recommendations were great. He gave a commentary on each place of interest including the Grand Oriental Hotel itself. We saw all the places we had asked for. The tour ended early as it was a Sunday and Suneth was apologetic about this and was prepared to continue to other places or even taking in lunch but, as we had seen all the places on the itinerary, we were happy to finish and he drove us back to the ship. He is an experienced guide and comes fully recommended. Thanks Suneth.

  The Tours by locals guide, Mohammed met us at the port gate and took us to the car and driver (who was very polite). Water was free for us. He has a history degree and was very knowledgeable about Mumbai. We got to walk around one of the smaller Dhobi Ghats rather than the larger one which was observed from above. We were able to get out from the car at each site and, after his commentary, given time to explore on our own. A much more intimate and informative tour than those provided by the ships.   George gave us an Outstanding tour of Cape Town. Table Mountain was closed due to weather so he modified our day to give many sights of the area. He was willing to accommodate our interests. He is a wealth of cultural and historical information. My wife an I have traveled internationally for over 15 years and he is one of the top three guides we have experienced. If you get a chance to book him, do it IMMEDIATELY!!!!

  Excellent Ketut was our driver when in Bali for 6 days for 3 girls. He made our trip to Bali everything that we wanted and didn't know we needed. He was amazing, not only was he prompt in reply and adjusting to our needs, but he was very informative about their culture and everyday life. He was very knowledge and an excellent driver. We told him some sights that we would like to go to and Ketut took it form there and planned accordingly

  Truly a one in a lifetime experience you will be forever grateful for! The world history is in front of you to see and touch! The stories of the bible are alive. Everything you read and know about Jesus is here plus so many other things you never knew. Yousef is a kind, patient and caring tour guide. He's extremely knowledgeable and can answer all your questions. He never made us feel silly for any question we asked.   Our tour in Penang was fabulous. Lawrence was waiting for us at the prearranged time and place on the dockside. Lawrence was an excellent guide, he was very knowledgeable about Penang and the rest of the Malay Peninsula. We drove out of The city and off first to visit the Orangutans, the facility is well run and is not a zoo the animals are rehabilitated and released. We then drove back to Penang for lunch, took the Train to the top of the hill, where the views were spectacular. Thank You Lawrence !

  We had an absolutely wonderful day with Gaston. We had six and the vehicle was very nice, clean and comfortable. Gaston met us at our hotel and graciously welcomed us and continued to impress us with his friendly and interactive tour of the beautiful parks, lakes and general area surrounding Ushaia.   We very much enjoyed our BVI Historical Tour with Joshua on Tortola. He was on time and had everything arranged for us. He was very knowledgeable about Tortola and all the sites on our tour. Our tour called for some time on the beach, but when we informed Joshua that we weren't "beach people", he took us to another historical site, an old windmill that was used to process sugarcane for rum. It was very interesting. I would highly recommend Joshua and Tours by Locals.

  Danijela was very attentious and well informed about all historical aspects of the war and the city. It was very touching tour because she gives her personal information and life experience during rough war times. We had a 360° tour around Sarajevo also got all kinds of tips about food and spots to explore by ourselves. We can say that she is superb. Helped us a lot finding nice spots to photograph the hole. We could't ask for more :)

  We really enjoyed our tour of "Baroque Queretaro" with Armando. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the city as well as Mexican history in general. He took us to some unique places that we would not have found on our own. He was also very polite and patient with us (I was traveling with older parents who are slow walkers) and he ended up spending extra time with us. He also speaks excellent English.

  DeWaine is a great tour guide for the Big Island. Our tour of the 2018 lava flow and the National Park was terrific. DeWaine took us places most tourists will never see. He really knows and appreciates the Hawaiian culture and history and imparts that throughout the tour. A great lunch from a local restaurant was unbelievably great and again, off the main tourist path.

  Tomas is simply amazing! We had so much fun with him. He managed our well travelled group of 8 with care and consideration. He actually knew all our names within 5 minutes of meeting us! Tomas showed us the extraordinary beauty of Santa Cruz, Huatulco and Crucecita. The information he gave during our tour was comprehensive and detailed.   We recently finished a 4 Hour Tour with Martin C.. The Man is incredible! Martin is a walking encyclopedia of Miami. Martin offered to drive our car throughout the Tour which was a blessing in disguise! Martin knew many little places to park while he talked about each area. I was able to concentrate on what Martin was saying without being distracted. I highly recommend ToursByLocals and Martin C. as your Tour Guide. I rate this tour FIVE STARS and wish I could rate it higher!!!

  Markus is an excellent guide. We saw so much of Berlin in 6 hours than we ever thought possible. Markus is The nicest person, extremely knowledgeable and went out of his way to accommodate last minutes requests and make our tour amazing. We highly recommend doing this tour with Markus.

  We had a great 2 days with Chamrong! He was on time, and guided us expertly through the itinerary of temples and sights while providing informative commentary along the way. We are keen photographers, and Chamrong was patient and helpful enabling us all to make the most of capturing the scenery. So helpful to have plenty of cold water on hand. He was an expert at navigating the roads and crazy traffic, and parking in tight spots. We would very happily recommend his tour guide services!

  The tour led by Hamid B. was the best I've experienced. He is an encyclopedia of knowledge on history, current events, customs, and traditions. He shared info about how local people live that you cannot find in tourist summaries. Hamid B. is well known in these communities, with many of the locals greeting him as he led us on a walking tour through residential areas and markets. Due to these relationships, he was able to bring us to places and show us things not accessible to an independent tourist. A++++

  Danijela was very attentious and well informed about all historical aspects of the war and the city. It was very touching tour because she gives her personal information and life experience during rough war times.   Lawrence was fantastic as our guide. Extremely knowledgeable, covered absolutely everything. Very well prepared (before and during the tour) and offered us plenty of options for the day. Also great with time keeping as we had to be back on board our cruise ship by 4pm. Really made the day as smooth as possible. We were all very happy and highly recommend Lawrence to anyone visiting Penang.

  Ruwan perfectly organised everything from picking us up from the ship to time management to get back to the ship in time and see as much as possible of what we aligned upfront. He was organising all in Pinnawala, showed us interesting places there and organised a perfect place for elephant riding and bathing. He is familiar with the places and people and was a great help to really enjoy the day, which ended at 2 temples in Colombo. He could have talked more to us on the way back to Colombo.

  We had a terrific 4 day tour, Chan was accommodating in every way. He is very proud and familiar with his country, this was immensely helpful. We planned as we went along and as a result we were able to see many of the important and interesting sites. It was as if we were on tour with a good friend.   Smart, informative, humorous and insightful. My family and I had an excellent tour with Rob. We learned and experienced far more than we could on our own and thoroughly enjoyed the background stories that Rob tells. We highly recommend Rob and well hire him again when we next return.

  We loved having Mike as a guide. He is an LOTR fan and well versed in the history of the movies, the books, Peter Jackson and JRR Tolkien. We had a great time geeking out; talking about everything from the Simarillion to the photos and movie clips on his Ipad of footage at the actual filming locations. We had loads of fun recreating several LOTR scenes from Mt Vic to the Hutt to Kaitoke. We met others who acted as extras in the films. Mike is now, by far, our favorite Urukhai, alive and dead!   We couldn't have imagined a better guide than Cesar. He worked with me before we left to make sure we could have the custom tour we wanted. On the day of the tour, he was very attentive to our needs and desires, gave us great explanations of the places we visited, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful experience. On the way to drop us off, he even identified a store where my friend could buy a patch for her backpack -- she had been looking unsuccessfully for one for nearly two weeks.

  Vivian was an amazing guide. We took two different tours with her during our stay in Quito and both exceeded our expectations. We were a large group with ages ranging from 7 to 70 and Vivian was able to create an itinerary that was interesting and exciting for everyone.   The trip was excellent. We stopped for delicious coffee or hot chocolate, and then to view the volcano and beautiful lake at a lovely lakeside resort. In Otavalo, he oriented us to the outdoor market and patiently helped me instruct a booth owner how to modify earrings I wanted. After a delicious lunch in Cotacachi, he took us to his favorite leather shops. In between he had interesting insights into the cultures and institutions of Ecuador. By the end of the tour, we were parting with a friend.

  Our group of 9 including 3 children really enjoyed our tour with Adolfo. He knew the place well and planned the tour to avoid the crowds as much as possible. He was very knowledgeable and engaging and pointed out stuff that made sense to us and the kids. We have wonderful memories of Toledo and learned so much.   I can't rate this service or our guide, Rik, highly enough. Our walking tour of Bruges was a highlight of our trip, and we would recommend Rik to anyone visiting the lovely city.   My family enjoyed a wonderful tour of the penguins at Punta Tombo with Carina during our recent stop at Puerto Madryn during our cruise. She was prompt, friendly and informative. The 2.5 hour drive there and back was relatively easy as she discussed the history and culture of the region and pointed out many sites of interest along the way. Carina also took extra special care with both my elderly mother who was in a wheelchair, and my very active 10 year old son. We highly recommend this special tour.

  Carlos was excellent!! He was always considerate of our comfort and eager to please us by making sure we got to see our points of interest. He is very friendly, and my family of 4 enjoyed our time with him.   We had a great tour of Atotonilco and Delores Hidalgo with Diego. He quickly figured out what our interests were (history, art), and his explanations were knowledgeable and thorough. The "all inclusive" nature of his tour makes it easier on the customer--you're not constantly digging around for cash to pay for entries. Diego's enthusiasm for his job and his easy conversation made our day a high point of our trip in San Miguel de Allende.

  Fabulous tour to start our trip to Lebanon. Georges explained the recent history of this beautiful country well whilst showing us key battle lines, feeding us amazing Street food, introducing us to the locals (he knew everyone). His English is perfect. We went to places we would never visit on our own. He even found the National Museum would be closed in the afternoon so went with us first to visit this and then did the tour at no extra charge. George really goes the extra mile!

  We had a great tour with Adnan in Abu Dhabi. He met us promptly from the cruise terminal and we went straight to the Grand Mosque. This was an absolute highlight and Adnan gave us plenty of information as well as guiding us around this incredible place. We then went to the waterfront area around the Presidential Palace, the Marina and the heritage village.   We are a family of 5, three kids ages 8, 11 and 13, and we decided to forego the usual tourist sites and instead go with Michai to see the "other side of Bangkok". So glad we did! We had an absolutely fantastic time! Michai picked us up at our hotel and off we went, by train, boat, taxi and tuk-tuk through parts of Bangkok we (for the most part) would never have even thought about visiting. Michai is an excellent guide, clearly knows what he's doing and adapts to circumstances and his guests. 5 stars!

  Our family enjoyed our private tour with Maile. We had a lovely time and saw so many sights. We were even able to see Africa from one of our views from the mountain top. We also enjoyed our lunch from one of the places she recommended. We even got to see Marbella on our tour (I had really wanted to go the day before but our plane was delayed and we missed a day in Malaga). She knew I was disappointed and made my wish come true.   We had a great time on our Milan fashion tour. Our guide, Fedra, was fantastic! Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She was very generous with her time (finished over time) and gave many helpful tips for our stay. My 11 year old daughter absolutely loved her and the tour. Would highly recommend.   Nico was an amazing tour guide - he was very accommodating to our two mobility-challenged people on the tour. We were 4 people and we had plenty of room in the vehicle to be really comfortable. The sights were amazing, and Nico was very versed on the history and the culture.   We had a very limited amount of time in Panama City, but specific things we wanted to see - sloths and the Canal. Teo picked us up from the airport, dropped off our luggage at our hotel, took us to a lovely place to grab something to eat, and then off to explore. Teo delivered exactly what we wanted - baby sloths and a front row view of the Canal as small and large boats were passing through the locks. In between the two, we were given the most detailed history of Panama. Absolutely the best!!!

  Adolfo possesses a huge knowledge base about Toledo. He shared Toledo's complex history and importance in Spain. Adolfo also candidly shared the religious history of Toledo and the tolerance that allowed 3 religious cultures to co-exist for centuries.   Shai is awesome! He met us at the port gate having given us wonderful instructions on where to meet. He was also holding a sign with our name which made it very easy. He called up the van and driver and off we set to discover Montevideo for 4 hours. It was a great balance between walking and driving, plenty of photo opportunities and Shai is enthusiastic and friendly as well as knowledgeable. We finished opposite the port entrance where we had an amazing lunch at the "Markets" Don't hesitate - book Shai!

  We spent a full day with Demian going counterclockwise through Hana and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. He is very knowledgeable about the areas we drove through, and took us to some fantastic spots. We loved swimming at the black sand beach and in a crystal clear cave full of fresh water! Lunch at Hana Farms was absolutely delicious. Demian's van is very comfortable, and he is a confident driver on the winding and bumpy roads. We look forward to hiring Demian again next time we are in Maui.

  Used for the first time in India, where we planned several tours with a couple of guides. Easy to identify and communicate the type of tour that suited us, quick response all the time, complete with itinerary from the guides themselves. We also found that the price for the tours was very competitive when compared against the cruise offshore tours to same places.   I can't say enough good things about Tours By Locals and my guide for the day Michael ( Lingtao C. ) in Xi'an, China. I wanted to see the Terracotta Army, the Wild Goose Pagoda and the City Wall. Michael made it all so easy for me to do, he was informative, joyful, spoke perfect English and was very easy to understand. I can't remember ever having a better guide. Also, I would like to say the driver that Michael used, whose name was Mo, drove very comfortably and conscientiously. What an awesome day!

  We had a minimal layover in Varanasi and we made the best of every minute. Kunal handled everything detail! We were met outside of customs by a porter he arraigned who took us to Kunal where we were taken into the city. Kunal started right away giving us the history of the city and influence of religion.   Our tour with Tom was fantastic! We not only saw the incredible sites of Angkor Wat and its surrounding temples but we learned a great deal about the history of the complex as Tom was an incredible teacher. We were always treated to cold water and towels as we traveled from site to site and the fresh fruit on our last day was an extra treat. We would definitely recommend Tom and Tours by Locals to our friends and family should they decide to visit the lovely country of Cambodia. Book with Tom!!!

  We had a big family holiday and to cater for our parents who cannot understand English and the younger generation that can only understand English, so we chose Lawrence for his ability to speak fluently in both English and Mandarin - and he didn't disappoint!   Wonderful introduction to the city of Manchester's fascinating industrial history. John is knowledgeable, friendly & obviously enjoys his job & city. His new electric taxi is quiet, comfortable & accessible. The sunroof allows for great views of the skyline architecture. The tour was customized to my interests especially Peterloo.
