  Alicja is an excellent guide. Her English is superb and her knowledge of Krakow and Poland is exemplary. She is very friendly & professional. She was at my hotel early to pick me up and was flexible with the itinerary, which we adjusted as we went through the day. We had a great time together. I highly recommend her!!!

  Mohamed could not have been more accommodating to our group of ten. He made sure to check about our interest in the sites he proposed to show us and was exceedingly flexible. His knowledge of Casablanca is extensive and he was very patient in answering questions from ten inquisitive people. We so enjoyed our originally scheduled four-hour tour that we requested to extend our time, to which Mohamed graciously agreed. Cannot recommend Mohamed highly enough. He provided a great introduction to Morocco.

  Ricardo was outstanding!! My daughter has an interest in lighthouses and though it wasn't on the itinerary, he found a lighthouse for my daughter to visit. He is an excellent driver and there was good conversation. I would use him again when I visit Portugal!!!

  Diego was instrumental in our fantastic Thanksgiving escape to Guadalajara. Not only did he provide a great day of touring Lake Chapala, Ajijic, and Guachimontones with our driver, Juan; but he also gave such great advice on what else to do/ where to eat during our days before and after. He is very knowledgeable, personable and professional. His command of English was great and helped us with translations even outside of the time we hired him. He truly made a memorable vacation for my family.

  Tony was a great tour guide. He even offered to start the tour earlier than scheduled as we couldn't check in yet. He really was very knowledgeable about the Nashville area. He had so many very interesting stories and memories of various artists in the Nashville music industry. Perfect tour for country music lovers.

  Roberto was a great guide. He was on time, flexible and helped us with a custom layover trip. He provided comfortable transportation and took us to eat terrific papusa's. We did a lot of driving and he was able to engage all 5 of us in thoughtful conversation. He also acted as a go between to help us interact with the locals in a small town we were visiting. He even let me use his phone to make a call when I couldn't get mine to work properly. Finally, he got us to our lodging safely in heavy traffic.

  Have used Tours by Locals several times the past few years. Excellent communication with all guides, who have always tailored the experience to exactly what I wanted. This is so much better than your standard ," one size fits all tour", that is not flexible! So wonderful to actually "meet: your guide prior to your tour to make sure your personalities fit - especially if your tour is an all day affair!

  Huge thanks to Zuzanna P who was our tour guide on Thursday 28th November 2019 during our stay in Krakow.. Zuzanna arrived promptly to collect us from our apartment in a clean and roomy vehicle. She has an extensive knowledge of the area and was able to give us information and the history of places, building and bridges as we travelled to the camps. The following trip to the Jewish Museum made everything very real and we all agreed it was a must do after visiting the camps. Thank you

  I had 5 hours between flights in Bilbao and he made it worth the wait . Full of information but did not inundate me with it unless asked. After an overnight flight and another connecting to Bilbao, he steered us to the best cup of coffee in the city - naturally located in the area of the University. Weather perfect - naturally arranged by my guide. As was the care of my suitcase so that we did not need to drag it around with us. Thank you, will recommend not only Joseba but your company to future traveler

  Takashi is super! He is very knowledgeable and we had a great day learning from him, getting to so many highlights of Kanazawa. He taught us important things about using the public transportation as well. We could never have gotten all of this done on our own. We even found that the Kenroukuen gardens were having a free public viewing again in the evening, lit up. He helped us feel confident in how to get there and back again. We highly recommend this tour and especially with Takashi. Thank you!!!!

  Our guide Cherish was great. She met us promptly at the cruise terminal. She took us to some very unique and interesting sights in Manila. She spoke with locals to get us an even closer look at some of the places. For example, she got us access to see and speak with a family that made their home in a cemetery, and she brought me into the kitchen of a small restaurant to see how Lumpia (fresh spring rolls) was made (it was delicious!). she was very knowledgeable about all the places we went in Manila! Tours by Locals was great to work with. They communicated with us throughout the process, including providing some clarifying information prior to the tour date and helping us find a guide when it looked like there weren't guides available.

  We had a great time. They went out of their way to accommodate us and what we wanted to do. You could tell that Griffith was very passionate about his City and very knowledgeable. We were late getting there, and he was extremely patient and accommodating. Have used tours by locals many times and love them and their guides.

  Roberto was a wonderful host who customized a lovely wine-tasting day trip for us in Montalcino. Roberto was very communicative before our appointment and picked us up in his van for a day out in the Italian countryside. He's a great driver with a wonderful sense of humor and was a pleasure to spend the day with. I hope our paths cross again with Roberto. It was such a memorable day!

  On Saturday we did a private tour with guide Hung Nguyen, ToursByLocals to Ho Chi Minh City. It was a full day and we were able to get a flavor of Saigon, a place that is spiritual, energetic and full of people on scooters. It was eye-opening! Our guide wanted to make sure we learned some of the history and was extremely knowledgeable. He was also very accommodating. If you were wanting to see this city then we would recommend Hung as he is personable and aims to please.

  This was a relaxed and Informative tour. The trip to the Golden Temple was interesting and the highlight of our visit. We enjoyed the walking tour of the streets around the temple and the visit to the fort. Balwinder was good company.

  Cesar did a terrific job of giving us the big picture of the city and then focusing in on points of interest. It was a pleasure to hear about Monterrey from a long time resident who also had experience elsewhere in Mexico and the world. Cesar could recommended excellent restaurants and activities for the rest of our time in Monterrey. He understood the desires and interests of the clients and formed his tour and recommendations around those factors. Excellent work.

  Full Day Handcrafts Tour - What a fabulous tour! Juan is an engaging, thoughtful, knowledgeable and excellent guide. We learned so much from him about Oaxaca both present day and its history plus so much about handcrafts in the Oaxaca valley. Juan is well connected with the artisans so he was able to take us to some amazing artisans's studios where we had time to chat with them and learn much about their handcrafts. We had a most amazing day enjoying all that we did. We highly recommend this tour!

  Adnan was excellent. He answered questions before the tour promptly. Picked my wife up for our Kuala Lumpur shore excursion timely in his well cared for vehicle. English is very good and his knowledge of KL and his driving was also excellent. He was solicitous of our needs and wants and we did everything on the itinerary and were back to the ship on time. Were able to do many things that we could not possibly have done on our own and nice to be out of the "herd" ship excursion. Definitely recommend.

  We were so incredibly lucky to find Erhard and cannot recommend him highly enough. He is communicative, showed up right on time, was warm, kind and accommodating and an absolute pleasure to work with. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and an incredible source of information on the Maya and the history of Mexico. We spent 12 hours with him and would have gladly spent more. We are already discussing our next "Erhard" tour. Hire this guide - you will not regret it!

  Barbara was a great guide. She knows Milan like the back of her hand. We walked to all the "must sees", even in the rain! Her tour of the Duomo was spot on, making sure we saw all the sights on the roof and inside. There was't a question she couldn't answer! And, as we are very inquisitive, she was very patient with all of our many questions. I would not hesitate to use Barbara again -- especially for another Hidden Places of Milan tour she mentioned.

  Your search for the perfect guide in Siem Reap stops here. Sophon, aka Tom, is amazing. He is incredibly friendly, tons of fun, and extremely knowledge of everything Cambodia. My two daughters and I had the experience of lifetime with Tom. Tom knew where to be, where to eat, and who to deal with so we maximized our time. We are better people for spending two days with Tom. Skip the group tours and big buses. Go with Tom, you'll have a memories for life and you won't be disappointed.

  I do not know what is the custom when writing reviews and whether it should be short or extensive, but I am afraid that a few words review would be impossible to describe our experience with Jamuna. To my wife and me, this was our first experience with a guide even though we have been traveling all our lives. We always have all organized by ourselves, but this time we decide to hire a professional guide. Yet this is a country about which we do not know that much, the country whose traditions are unknown to us. Basically, we had a wonderful experience coming to Nepal and we can thank Jamuna most of all. We just don't find the words to describe our enthusiasm and gratitude. So much knowledge, so much patience when explaining. Something wonderful. We cannot imagine what our Nepalese experience would be like without Jamuna. Everything was going great from the first contact through the agency. We arranged a sightseeing plan without any problems and Jamuna was open to all options and suggestions. Going to a Nepalese family, to their home for lunch, at the suggestion of Jamuna, is one experience we will never forget. The worst part of the whole tour was the end of the tour because we had to go home. Choose Jamuna and you will spend unforgettable holidays in Nepal Smiling, cheerful, in a word, a dream guide.

  Zel has enthusiasm, and energy, along with extensive historical, geographic, biblical, cultural and archaeological knowledge. His flexibility, and sense of humor also made our 2-day tour outstanding. Per Zel's suggestion, we started one tour day at 7am which provided a tremendous opportunity to see key sites without crowds He also made excellent suggestions for meals, museums, and more for our days in Jerusalem without him. We highly recommend booking a tour with Zel before his tour calendar fills up!

  Wonderful tour today to the Beautiful City of Tanger with Abdelmoghit! We enjoyed the tour of the city and around,he also provided us with an informative tour of Tangier Kasbah and the market. The drive of the tour was very comfortable as we had the van to ourselves and our driver Omar was very nice and took good care to ensure we were comfortable! We were met by our guide in the port and being a local, he knew all the right places to take us. Highly recommended!

  This was a superb tour by Glorianne, principally of the prehistoric temple of Hagar Qim, and also of the fishing village and Sunday market at Marsaxlokk, as well as of some scenic coastal sites. Glorianne was full of well-integrated information, rich with striking observations, and absolutely a pleasure to be with. I am so glad I saw these things—especially the temple—under her guidance.

  My family really enjoyed our time with Laura on our tour of Girona. We had 3 adults, one teenager, and one 8 year old, but I felt like Laura was able to connect with all of us and give us each an experience that we'll all remember. Of course, she was very knowledgeable about Girona's and Catalonia's history, but she also shared some "Game of Thrones" info with the fan of our group, connected with my 8 year old daughter, and left the rest of us wanting for nothing. Much better than I expected!

  5⭐️ out of 5. Sasha was a terrific guide - knowledgeable on many different levels, flexible, funny, and high energy. We packed as much as possible into our day tour - and back to the boat on time! Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a jam-packed, always interesting, authentic tour of the French Riviera coast.

  Kate is a simply fantastic guide. She is smart, knowledgable,friendly and knows every inch of Kauai. She made sure our tour fit our interests exactly and took us to places we're sure few tourists see-and told us of the history of the Island as well as all about its ecosystem. If you come to Kauai I promise time with Kate will be well worth your while and when you're done you'll know, as we do, that your trip was made infinitely better for having met and toured with her and shared her love of Kauai.

  Wow, what a great day. Clemente was an excellent guide, not only showing us things off the beaten path but giving extremely balanced insight into the history of the area. Panama is a complex country - especially in the Canal area. Clemente is knowledgeable historian giving all sides of the story. We were a group of 4 and the van was very roomy and comfortable. Grab this guy if you get the opportunity!!!!

  I appreciated Mafy’s crystal clear, step-by-step instructions in paddleboarding. She’s not only an excellent guide in every way but a terrific teacher. Throughout the tour, she shared her wide-ranging knowledge of eco-systems, particularly about birds, iguana evolution, geography, water systems, and climates. She also shared local resources re: other tours I was interested in and assisted me in contacting a guide I was having trouble reaching. Even before I arrived in Ecuador, she had showed a readiness to offer more than what was expected. offering extensive information about the status of the indigenous protests when I expressed concerns about trip disruption. All day she listened to what I wanted and shaped the tour around it!

  We booked John for a tour of the Isle of Skye. John was a great guide! He was very accommodating and picked us up at our house and dropped us off at our front door. He was very knowledgeable and shared much information about Skye and Scotland (past and present). I would recommend John and if I ever return to the Highlands, I will use his services again.   We had a wonderful day in Seoul, South Korea. Kevin did an excellent job of showing us around this exciting city and we saw far more than we would have had we gone with a ship tour. Kevin is very friendly and his suggestions on what to see next were very well thought out. The lunch was delicious! Kevin was great at pointing out the best photo spots which was very much appreciated. Two Thumbs Up!!

  Enjoyable, flexible, exceeded expectations! Sharon speaks good English and is a very pleasant person to tour around Panama City. She was very thoughtful bringing us snacks and drinks. We felt a friend to guide us through Panama City with laughs and cheers instead of a tour guide. She was willing to accommodate all our requested sites more than a typical tour, even exceeding the time by one hour. I strongly recommend Sharon as your personal tour guide.

  Daniel gave us a great day on the water and beach, with a speedboat tour of the harbor, a trip to the islands, snorkeling and a full lunch and quiet time at a nice beach club. His trip is a great way to experience the Caribbean island side of Cartagena- a different experience than the old city. A fun day with a great guy! Our group of 4 adults had a wonderful time.   George is the most knowlegeable and enthusiastic guide one could hope for. He took us to several hidden gem locations, that gave us very nice insights into the city. Geography, history, politics, architecture, and sports are all areas of expertise. He is a bit loud, but also a good listener. Sometimes enthusiasm causes one to be vocal. Highly recommended.

  he visit to the Terracotta Warriors with Michael was a joy. We traveled by public transport which gave me an opportunity to see other parts of Xi'an, and Michael used the time to explain about the history of Xi'an and China, . Throughout the tour, he guided me to avoid the crowd which was helpful. After that we lunched at a local, non-touristy eatery nearby. The food was great. But I was more intrigued to get a glimpse into the lives of the locals. Overall, a great experience so TQ so much, Michael!

  We did a late afternoon evening tour with Ervin. It was our first day on Mykonos and what a great way to start our stay. Saw so many places on the island and got a sense of what living your whole life on the island is about. Had a wonderful sunset by the windmills and a fun walk though town.   We took the Pro Football Hall of Fame with Mary and it was a very enjoyable experience. Mary is a wealth of knowledge and educated us on the Pittsburgh area and the many tourist opportunities in the downtown area.   Susana was our guide in Avila and Segovia and was extremely knowledgeable about the culture and history of both. The places she chose to take us were perfect, enabling our understanding and appreciation of the two towns. In Avila we visited Santo Tomás, a Dominican Monastery which was extraordinary both historically and architecturally. Part of our tour was a stop for lunch at a small restaurant with a wonderful view and delicious local dishes in Segovia. Suzana is an exceptional guide who met our needs.

  Absolutely amazing tour with Werner! He is very knowledgeable about the history and told us interesting information all along the way. His English is perfect! He went above and beyond by making us a lunch reservation in a non-touristy restaurant (which was amazing!) and called his friend who is a taxi driver to take our older group back to the top of town. He lives in Assisi so he has intimate knowledge of the city which really made it special. Thanks Werner!!

  I highly recommend Silvana as your guide. I was a single traveller and the 7hrs flew by. Lots to talk about & Silvana took an interest in what I was interested in seeing (and not seeing) and the tour was adapted as we went. I really enjoyed her open narrative on Romanian culture, politics and history. I feel like I got a real insight to this complex country and not a tour book summary. The food options give you local food experience and don't disappoint. Tip: don't eat breakfast before you go!

  We did the Game of Thrones tour with Brian on 9/11/2019. It was the best tour of our vacation!! Brian was a great guide and had a fun sense of humor and he had a lot of GOT knowledge and experience to share with us. We saw the beautiful Northern Ireland coast and so many filming locations as well as the Giant's Causeway. We thought the stop at Stenson's jewelers was amazing and also the doors made from the Dark Hedges were spectacular to see. Have already recommended this tour to others!!!

  Michelle enthusiastically showed us the countryside of the Isle of Skye and took us to places the average traveler would never see. We toured the castle where Michelle was once employed- so she had many interesting and intimate stories to relay about the building and it's artifacts. She had us climbing hills and walking through fields in the quest of exploring ruins and burial sites. There were also impromptu stops at a local museum, a bakery and even a craft fair. We had a fun filled day!

  We had an amazing experience with our guide Daniel on our tour of Bath and Stonehenge. He was so knowledgeable and as well as fun.   We had a wonderful 2-days with our private tour guide with Adrian. Not only was he knowledgeable of the tour, he had a broad wealth of knowledge of many things including history of Romania. Adrian made all 6 of us feel comfortable, well-informed. He would go above and beyond to make sure we were all taken care of. His English is fluent and with almost no accent.   This tour is definitely pricey, but worth every penny. I've recommended it to my friends and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. We saw other tour groups in vans as we were doing our tour, but driving around with Nathan in his personal vehicle and getting a true inside look at life in Soweto made it a much more authentic experience. Nathan is an amazing guide - easy to understand, knowledgeable, friendly - it really felt like we were being shown around by an old acquaintance. Thank you so much, Nathan!

  My father scoffed at the idea of booing a private tour but less than a few blocks into the walk, he was loving Rob's insights. Rob was awesome!! His rich knowledge of history made every stop a learning experience. He was incredibly personable. And he adapted quite easily to some customizations and a big challenge thrown our way by a big march in the city that day. This is a tour guide that I cannot recommend highly enough. Book him!

  Berit was outstanding! She was extremely informative on wine in general, but had relevant and interesting context on the Bordeaux region and the nuances of the area. We are not experts in wine, and Berit met us where we were on our wine expertise. Not only was she an extremely knowledgeable guide, she was easy to talk to and our conversation was engaging and very fun on a number of topics. The day was easy, informative, fun, and interesting.   Discovered ToursByLocals by chance and I’m glad that I gave them a try for my vacation in Madeira. My guide Carlos was amazing; he knew the best viewpoints and avoided the more touristy trails. And through him, I learned that the guides on ToursByLocals are held accountable for their tours which I thought was reassuring. I want to commend ToursByLoacls support team too! I had some problems booking a last minute tour and the support team was really helpful and prompt in their response through emails. It was also quite easy to reach them through their hotline. I think all these (guides and backend support) are important especially when you are on holidays and you don’t want to miss out on anything.

  assan is a wonderful guide, especially if you are active--he will hike as far and fast as you want, and he arranged for me to swim in the ocean even though that wasnt included in the tour. He is knowledgeable, enjoyable to talk with, a good driver with a comfortable car. I really enjoyed all parts of the tour: the amazing sinkhole, the lovely cedar forest (not huge but we did a 5 km hike), Gibran Museum (but full of his paintings not writings) and lunch by the seashore. Highly recommend Hassan and tour.

  Absolutely the best guide we have ever had. So friendly, so helpful, so insightful. Absolutely the best. Lorena organised a driver for the day in a very new and spacious SUV, and then showed us everywhere we hoped to visit. Lorena even took us for traditional meals and we had the best dim sum in China. We were able to shop, sightsee, eat and enjoy the very best of the city, all while our helpful driver waited for us at each stop. Highly recommended. Definitely the best guide we have ever had.

  Pavel is the best guide we've had in two weeks. He brought us small gifts and water. He was affable, knowledgeable and tireless. He paid for all tickets in advance, including Metro. He bought us ice cream. He arranged for tours within a tour by scheduling experts to guide us at Sophia Cathedral and World War II museum. He took photos constantly and was patient. His wife will curate and edit the photos and email. We thoroughly enjoyed his company and would've employed him the whole Ukraine visit. A+

  An incredible three days in which Monica showed me the best of Constanta port, resort, the Danube Delta, and a trip to Bucharest. I was amazed by her knowledge of English idioms, and encyclopedic knowledge of subjects from Astronomy to Zoology. As an epicurean, historian, and biologist, she was, for me, the perfect companion to explain Romania's art, architecture, history, ecology, music, politics, and cuisine. Confident, knowledgeable, intelligent, and always in good humor. She's a great driver, too!

  Adriane was the best! Our "tapa tour" with her was fun, educational and filling! She knows (and is known by) some of the most interesting, tucked-away tapa restaurants and bars in Cadiz, places we would not have found on our own. And her comments about their background and the local history and culture were both entertaining and informative. We could not have asked for a better way to spend four hours exploring this historically and culturally rich city. We highly recommend this tour.

  Meir is a gentleman and a scholar. Our tour of Jerusalem's old city would not have been nearly as meaningful without him. If you want to understand both the religious significance and the factual archeological history of this great city, Meir is your guide. I was impressed with the years he devoted to becoming a certified guide and the relationships he has built with many of the locals. We are so glad we chose Meir instead of a less personal large group tour. This tour far exceeded our expectations.

  From the moment we met Ricardo we felt we were in good hands. He was very professional, with a bright smile, firm handshake and great attitude. The Pasteis da Nata he produced when we stopped to admire the view was a sweet touch. Quinta do Foz was educational and wines were delicious! A stunning river cruise and finally an excellent gourmet lunch to wrap things off. All along the way we learnt many interesting facts about the history and general life in Portugal.   Davor was an excellent guide; we always felt that our enjoyment was his primary concern. His English was excellent, and he never hesitated to provide information, history, translations or answers to our many questions. The accommodations he selected were mostly smaller, family run enterprises that provided excellent service and great meals. For us, this multi-sport adventure with Davor as our guide was an excellent way to see Croatia.

  Mykhailo provided a wonderful and energetic tour of Lviv. He is an excellent English speaker and provided a great amount of detail about everywhere we went. He was able to answer all of my questions whether it was about history, religion, or present day politics. I really appreciated that he focused the tour on the things I was interested in--loved the architecture of the city and the pharmacy tour was very interesting!
