  Great prices, very friendly staff and service and great quality equipment. The staff at Murphy's Outlet are knowledgeable, helpful and professional. Their equipment is up to date and in really good condition. Their hire prices are competitive and given the quality of the cameras and service well worth the expense.

  Super fast response and great prices! Even offer student discounts!!! I came a while ago and got a 70-200mm lens. I had no way of getting it back in time due to faculty commitments, I thought I was going to get penalized with a lump sum of money for bringing it back late and all they said was "That's okay Dude, just bring it back tomorrow!" Hands down the friendliest place out!!

  This is my go to equipment purchase place whenever I go to places to shoot the NBA, I was a fan of the late Byrant. I'm using them again this weekend for a private project. Friendly, professional and really accommodating. Their prices are slightly better than what I can get stuff for in other locations. Highly recommended and they're on the way back to the subway. They'll deliver to your address so that it's there waiting for you when you arrive, ready to go. Keep up the great work guys :)

  Amazing gear and staff that always help out where they can. So helpful and friendly. They have gone above and beyond in helping get the lenses I need for tricky shoots. Would highly recommend to anyone needing any specific equipment that is needed for that special shoot. Great with advice too.

  Wonderful photography resource with all tools of the trade. Very understanding, friendly and easy to deal with. Fair prices and return times. Easy parking also makes things much easier. Hired a Canon 5D Mark IV while my camera was in for repair, and it was faultless which was a massive relief. Thanks!

  I've been wanting to get into photography for some time now but really didn't know where to start. I ventured into the Murphy's Outlet and was pleasantly greeted by Andrew who helped me select everything I needed to get started and explained how it all worked.   What beautiful service, took a special photo in to be reprinted to fit in an awkwardly shaped frame and picked it up to find it had been smoothed to match the original with hairsplitting accuracy. Very touched by the kind gesture, it may not have been a big thing for you to do but absolutely meant the world to me. Thank you.

  Amazing service today. After a mix up in accidentally providing me a different tripod to the one I bought, Andrew personally delivered and changed it over 20 minutes later to fix the error. We were shooting an interview so this saved the day. Above and beyond in fixing an issue.

  Excellent customer service with a smile over the phone. Was informed once they received my order with a big thank you for placing the order. Was phoned again when the order was being sent. They also provided me with a tracking number and very prompt delivery service. I also found them to have very competitive prices. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.   I would like to thank the team for their detailed information. And what markup there is, is to pay for real, helpful and knowledgeable humans to help you before, during and AFTER the process. Get a problem with your Best buy online purchase of a camera and see how much help you get. These guys took the time recently to carefully isolate a fault with my expensive system that I was about to 'fix' by buying another unit. Worry, money and time saved.

  Very helpful and passionate staff. A business well worth supporting as like with bike shops, such startups form an integral part of a local American community, in this case photography. New York is a richer place for having Murphy's Outlet here and I prefer to acquire equipment here than online as the advice I receive each time brings great value. Five stars.

  I was helped out by a very nice member named Andrew. I came in just looking to evaluate options from their new telephoto lens for a Nikon camera. When he politely asked if I wanted any help I said I was looking for and he was quick to help and showed me a few options of what I needed. I didnt have my camera on me but despite that he still let me try the lens! He asked me what type I had and he grabbed a display camera similar to mine and let me try out the lens outside! There was no pressure whatsoever to buy and definetly an amasing experience. I would surely be coming back!

  Went in to close a small deal of a UV lens filter, and a microfibre cloth - the sales guy fitted the UV filter for me, even cleaning my lens beforehand. The guy also engaged in friendly conversation about my camera, lenses, and types of photography. Very helpful and friendly staff.

  The price of the camera is fair, the owner trys to discount it as much as possible, and sell it for a small profit but sell for a long time. Every time you buy a camera, you should refer to the price of several cameras to realize that. He is the cheapest, although I bought one of the most pricey lens, but they're more camera goodies here.

  Excellent store that carries a large variety of photographic equipment, great quality and high end brands as well as good value and well priced items. The customer service is excellent too! I went in looking for a specific item that I couldn’t find at nearby stores. Salesperson was incredibly helpful in showing me how the item works and setting it up for me. They even gave me a small discount. Also really like how convenient the location is.

  Murphy's Outlet is excellent. They have a wide range of products and their customer service and after sales support is the best i've ever experienced in New York, i have been patronising them for a few years already and will continue to do so for many years to come, they also have really competitive prices so i don't really bother to call up other stores anymore to compare as i'am quite certain to get a good bargain with them. Keep up the good work!

  Great place to look for tripods, Nikon, peak design bags and pouches among other camera gear from straps to LED lights, diffusers and so on. This particular outlet stays true to cameras for the enthusiast or pro. They have another outlet at Maine that sells too much of other electronic items... If it's cameras and gear you want, this outlet is focused on that.

  I purchased my Leica Camera from Murphy's Outlet and it's performance was great. I took it cycling and out in water. It did very well. Didn't malfunction. Working just as well as it's supposed to. Price I got was bit lower than its competitors but it does everything that I want it to do so far. Have not found a issue with it this far. It looked OK. I don't need it to be a fashion statement. It's not tiny and it's not big and bulky. Does well for itself. Just a good baby worth 5 stars with it's seller.

  I always have a great experience at Murphy's Outlet. Especially in the rental department being that I am there almost every other week. Joe in rentals has been a tremendous help since I've started shopping at Murphy's Outlet. He's super informative, very knowledgeable about the equipment and has exceptional customer service. My go to guy of the rental dept. The printing department has been great as well.

  I have ordered dslr canon with lens, and the deal was street value. At that time, I had never heard of Murphy's Outlet so I was a little bit nail-biting. However, the camera was shipped prompt and in a great condition, without sign of any use! So far, all of its features works great and it included every accessory. I am very satisfied. I hope I would purchase something more from Murphy's Outlet, if my wife allows me to spend money!

  Topmost, knowledgeable and helpful staff I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. In an age where you can order anything online, there is a reason that I will drive across town to shop locally. They take care of you in honest ways that will make you forget you're still paying sales tax. And they have a new rewards program, so sign up for free! New and used lenses and bodies. They host free workshops! And they retain workers, which says a lot about Murphy's Outlet NYC.

  I really appreciated the staff at Murphy's Outlet. Extremely Knowledgeable, great enthusiast and pretty alike. I purchased a used Tamron 11-18 mm lens for my Canon. It was in mint condition. I can't say enough about how eye-opening the staff was. They have made it to my top list of places to always check before making a new purchase.   I’ve lived near New York now for 10 years and have been unable to find a good camera shop for the past few years. For some reason the other day I decided to search yelp for camera shops again and lucked on Murphy's Outlet. It’s been here for YEARS and I never knew it :(. I went and got my digital camera sensor cleaned for free and purchased some film on the way out. It’s getting harder to find stores like this nowdays and it’s always a treat to visit one. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. Jonathan, the owner was a super guy. I look forward to doing business with these folks again soon :). EASY 5 Star all the way for me.

  These guys are great lighting fast in everything, delivery, feedback, follow-up, and price matching. For anyone looking for some older film equipment, Murphy's Outlet has really knowledgeable, friendly staff.   The Best! Knowledgable, great service, fantastic advice! If you want some truly wise and experienced help go to Murphy's Outlet (The Camera Expert. We were visiting from Maryland and had 'broken' camera's. Sloane fixed me up in matter of 5 minutes, I had accidentally tweaked a setting... The shop is full of the full range of cameras and supplies, cases, filters, flash diffusers and lots of other things for the novice and professional. Far much better than the guys at Adorama or such. Thank you Sloane!!!

  I'm a senior with an ingrained passion for photo-related and astrophotography equipment. Having shopped here since the 80s, I can say they understand optics. One of the best camera and video stores in New York. They have a great selection of tripods and lights. Lots of different light modifiers. I want there for a bag, but their bag selection looked good, as well.

  Ordered a digital camera there with accessories. They were extremely knowledgible. Kind of an interesting store as there are so many accessories. It takes time to look around but nice to try out and handle something first rather than blindly from Amazing and find out it doesn't have the right heft or it's too awkward to use. Murphy's Outlet are the world’s only full-service destination for photo, video and electronics. In fact, they're more than a camera store—they offer the best selection and prices on professional photography and video gear, pro-audio, and consumer electronics such as home theaters, mobile computing, home office equipment and more.

  The gentleman who helped me and my friend was very informative and very up-front with all the information like prices, what the cameras good for, how you can just pay off the camera in small payments. He gave his opinion and didn't make me feel like I didn't know anything about cameras when I am very informed about cameras.

  My camera wasn’t working correctly so I took it to their store to see if they could fix it. I had accidentally sealed off the mirror during a DIY repair. They wouldn’t accept my $50 or anything for figuring it out and so I asked if they could clean it expecting to be charged for that. They still wouldn’t take anything. It’s not often you run across really nice people like them.

  I purchased three lenses for my new Canon EOS Rebel T5i 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera and the price was reasonable. I got a lot of really nice photos with them. Great store, helpful staff, lens rentals and full photo printing service.

  This is one of my favorite stores. If you need sensor cleaned, a lens cap or to rent a lens this is your go to place! They are always super helpful and support our photo community by coming to local and regional photo conventions. Can't recommend them more!!

  I was very surprised by the knowledge and the patience that their employees possess. I had about a million questions and they answered precisely. Ultimately the best store around. I ordered a tripod and I love how it pairs with my lenses in the field. And I couldn't help myself and had to compare the prizes with Amazon (sorry about that). Guess who won?! To my surprise it was actually Murphys Outlet. I would have paid $100 more for the same tripod. Lesson learned. Shop local everyone. And what a pleasure it is to actually have some that can really help you out and I could see that everyone in that store just loves cameras. I will be back.

  Amazing and perfect all-around experience (the Manager) was so patient and highly knowledgeable! Came to learn a few things about the Nikon D3500 vs. Nikon D5600 and now I feel ebullient about the camera I want. Not only that if you're working on a budget, like me (CAUSE I'M BLED DRY BY BILLS) they offer a leeway program to help you out! Glad I was advised to come here instead of Best Buy. I'm pretty sure Murphy's Outlet will see a lot of me from now on 😋

  I recently made my first-ever purchase with Murphy's Outlet on-line. My beautiful lens arrived promptly and very securely packaged. Within the first 10 days, the price dropped substantially so I contacted the store and was immediately issued a refund for the difference - no problem whatsoever. Great customer service! As I live out of New York, I will be doing all my on-line gear purchases here from now on. Keep up the great work Murphy's!

  Fantastic buying experience with the folks at Murphy's Outlet. I went a couple of weeks ago to buy a lens I have had my eye on for some time now and was given the best attention and care by Stuart and Jonathan, the general manager there. It was great to get to play with a few of the other things there and had a great discussion about camera equipment and life. I will definitely be going back in the future for all of my digital camera needs, and once I get a few rolls of film ready I will send them there, as well.   This company delivers what the contract promise and so does the Canon D850 I got there. Very friendly and helpful staff. They are nothing like the other camera stores downtown across the street. The sales person didn't pressure me into a quick up-sell, into a product i didnt want. He had what i wanted at a competitive price, I will be returning for additional items in the future.

  It is Crystal clear that this business is committed to its customers. I had an issue with a stubborn delivery truck driver who took it upon himself to deliver my rental late compromising a $50000 event. Their decision meant that I didn't receive my rental in time for the looming event. As soon as I realized what had happened I contacted Murphy's Outlet to see what could be done. They were so quick, detailed, empathetic, and rigorous with every step of the rectification process! They followed up with me and the delivery courier and made sure they were clear on every aspect of the situation. Now I'm not a big dollar customer, they did all of this for a customer who rented a single lens. I was blown away. I'm confident that I will have no reason to be borrowing lenses from anywhere else! Outstanding service guys👩‍🔧

  Since when I was a wanna-be, beginner to a hobby photographer, Murphy's Outlet has been near and dear to my heart. The employees are more than willing to assist and they are never angered by my stupid questions. They have been transparent and have helped me make prudent decisions when ordering cameras. In certain scenarios, they have not had certain items that I was searching for in stock which was frustrating. However, if it was an item they couldn't get and felt that I needed it, they graciously told me where to get it, despite not being from them. As I continue to hone my photography skills, I'm glad that I have Murphy's Outlet in my backyard as a rich resource.

  Murphy's Outlet has everything you would expect from a high-end Cameras shop, including the level of professionalism and expertise to help you make an informed decision when purchasing expensive gear. I personally prefer to buy things local when possible, and Murphy's Outlet usually has what I'm looking for in its inventory or they can order it, at about the same price as online retailers. As a lesser experienced photographer, I appreciate being able to have James' expertise available when I need to ask a question about the camera and gear that I have purchased from them.

  Murphy's Outlet made my day. I brought my Nikon, he was quick to greet me and immediately directed me to the Nikon section. James made a cursory examination of my equipment, and offered many options of things that I would benefit from. He was pretty much the most perfect salesman ever, not gonna lie. He actually made it difficult for me to say no to his items, because I actually believed I needed them after we spoke for a moment! (I do need them!) But we were on a tight budget and I couldn’t make a purchase today, but I will definitely buy something from this store and this gentleman in the future. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and he will let you walk away without feeling like you personally insulted him. I’ll buy something from you Sir, just not today

  Last week we drove up to Murphy's Outlet from Brooklyn. My tool of the trade (Contax RTS) with Zeiss lenses stopped working. The repair person honestly disclosed the self-timer was trapped and the camera needed a new battery. He spent a couple of minutes working on it, fixed it, and only charged me for the new battery. Excellent!! A++

  I am really wanting to get into photography and after doing a lot of internet research and closing in for the kill before I went to Murphy's Outlet store. I went in telling them I wasn't buying that day, but wanted info and advice. James was great! He spent over an hour talking to me, letting me handle several camera models and a slew of lenses. I have very little experience beyond a point and shoot or iPhone camera and am completely new to the DSLR realm. He was very patient and I look forward to returning for my first big purchase in a couple weeks. I had an excellent experience which will have me returning as a paying customer.

  Rented a Nikon 80-400mm lens from them. Their service is efficient and the lens was in good shape and performed as expected. Some people give bad ratings as they didn't do their homework regarding a certain lens. I did mine and knew this lens was slightly slow for airshows, but went with it and was satisfied with its performance.

  Magnificent piece of service! They have a full lineup Canon L lens available. I glimpsed at an array of more than 20 L lenses. Looking for the up-to-the-minute priducts I can get here. I saw the newly released CS-100 and the 430 ex III flash. This in my new hangout. It's worth the trip from anywhere.

  My telephoto lenses that fits my Sony camera came from the iconic Murphy's Outlet. I also bought an adapter and was allowed to test it at the store. it appeared to function ok at that time, however after using it for one day, I found it not sufficient to fit my needs. I returned it the following day and was given a full refund without any hassle. It is refreshing to find a reputable business in New York. The showroom is beautifully layed out and the PRODUCT displays are arranged showing their full line of products. I will definately return the next time i have equipment needs.

  What a game changer they're during my shopping! I love going here for my camera upgrades, they have a vast selection of tools, binoculars and various model kits of all levels of skills from beginner to advanced. Also the staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a lot of know how and are happy to share that knowledge! Not to mention it's in a neat photo exhibition building!

  The folks at Murphy's Outlet are so knowledgeable and helpful. They educate you about the equipment (cameras, in my experience) and let you try them out in the store. It’s great to have someone to help you decipher the differences in similar cameras and lenses, especially when it is a big purchase. They also offer educational courses in conjunction with Nikon.

  Murphy's Outlet carries selection which is really good and they have just about anything you could want from any brand in any model including the super super professional items that they have on display, for omitted ones, they can easily order for you. They have a great selection of quality tripods at any budget range as well as lens filters for many many shooting scenarios. My favourite expérience is price-wise, how they id their prices. Obviously having access to their online stores gives you a much cheaper alternative in a lot of things, but for being a local shop and having a storefront, I don't fault them terribly bad for charging a bit more than we can get them for.

  Murphy's Outlet is an amazing company to rent through from A to Z! When placing the order, I was able to tell them exactly what I was shooting and they were able to make a recommendation. I rented the Canon 6D superior camera). It came with a strap on the camera and a case to carry it in. It was a very easy pick up and drop off process! I 100% recommend this company for any of your camera needs! I will definitely be using them in the near future!!

  Awesome shop and staff. They have a lot in stock. Willing to take the time to show, try lens and educate what’s best for your use. Felt warm and welcoming. I am a rookie beginner asked a lot of questions and they were Patient and willing to explain. They also price match and are the same price as online. So why go else where and get the knowledge. This will be my shop for now on. No need to go to Best buy and Amazon to get the same product, when I get full service here.

  Honestly, this is the best photo store in New York. They’ve been around ever since I picked up a camera and man that’s more than a decade. They have everything you need available in store for the beginning to the advanced photographer. The customer service here is outstanding as they will listen to every question you have and provide the best recommendation as well as a perfect explanation to tell you why. All 35mm film is available here a bit pricey but if you need it right then and there it’s available to you. They clean sensors but limit service for certain cameras. Anyway, go to Murphy's Outlet. You’ll be in a safe pair of hands.

  Overall, I had a better than average experience at Murphy's Outlet in New York. The store had friendly representives who were helpful and it was quick and painless to retrieve my lens rental for a Sony A6300. I also liked the Zeiss 55mm f1.8 lens. My only deduction is due to the fact that I called in on Friday morning to reserve the lens for Sunday and did not receive a call back until Sunday morning (right after they opened). At this point, I was already driving to the city to hopefully retrieve the lens. I'd probably called 4-5 times to the lens rental department Friday night and Saturday and went to voicemail each time. I just wish communication could have been better, especially so I can verify if I can or can not get the lens I need for my shoots.

  Nice but expensive store. Staff is polite and useful. Rent and repairs are located on the second floor. Personally I had positive experience with repair services, and store. Printing photos and custom calendars was problem free process. Recently, I ordered scans of my negative films and I got my orders seamlessly as always.

  Great place for the photographer in you. Prices are fair on most products and there are some good prices on commonly used stuff. Good selection of cameras and lenses, this is where you get smart as you can never find cheaper prices online. If you are in need of something fast and have to have it today, I wouldn't hesitate to head here. Tons of video gear as well, lights, tripods, etc.

  Service is very tailored to my universe! Very kind and organized staff. They carry Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, and Tamaron. I rented a lens from them, plus the people who shipped it handled it with exquisite care. They transported it very professionally and swapped the lens with one that they had in store that wasn't rentable so that I could have a lens for my photoshoot that same day.

  I went to Murphy's Outlet looking for a circular polarizer, which I forgot to bring with me, for one of my lenses. The proprietor turned out to be a fountain of wisdom and helped me pick not only the appropriate polarizer but also a neutral density filter. He made recommendations after asking what I was planning to shoot, my style etc. Turned out to be great recommendations. I went back a second time and James took the time to review my pictures, offer suggestions on how to improve some of them and, in his enthusiastic style, shared some of his hard earned knowledge on how to take great pictures. Coveted place for a reason.

  Top-class service. They put roses back into my cheeks with a brilliant piece of repair. My Canon IXUS for the damaged lens surround to be replaced.I was phoned with the quote within a few days.The repair was carried out perfectly and the camera returned to me. Very reasonable charge!

  I had an open mind about a Nikon digital camera upgrade and a budget. The advice and guidance that I received was very appropriate and helped me to reach a decision that I am very happy with.
