  So 42photo generally does a good job and we have been dealing with them for 10 years. This review is about a complaint and issue 42photo needs to address. We placed an order yesterday and were told one of the items was on backorder as we placed the order. The backorder status appeared late in the process and there was no indication how long the backorder would be. We assumed with the huge volume of business 42photo does, and their importance to manufacturers selling their goods, that a backorder would be of short duration. When we went back to check we found the Blackmagic video assist would not be available through 42photo "until late August" which likely means sometime in September. We cancelled this order and found a ready supply of Ninja Vs at other sites. 42photo needs greater transparency about how long backorders are likely to be during the checkout process.

  Excellent customer service Delivery was faster than expected and the Canon PowerShot SX160 i ordered was safely packed and delivered, So far I've only had it for a couple of days and I'm happy with battery life. I am more than satisfied with my purchase and I certainly recommend this company to all photography enthusiasts.

  New Leica D-Lux 7 I ordered the new Leica D-Lux 7 from 42photo and it arrived very quickly, especially considering most places were only taking preorders. Their customer service is excellent. I would definitely recommend buying from this company and I will most definitely be buying again myself in the future.

  I spoke with a sales person who was very helpful and friendly .I ordered a lens 2 days ago and got the order today. Wow !.Also the lens arrived in perfect condition and was packaged professionally. I have purchased many lenses and camera bodies with the Nikon brand and I have never had a problem except once and 42photo.com rectified the problem immediately.   Very happy with purchase! I was a little reluctant to buy from this website given some of the previous reviews, but I shouldn’t have been.   Item not fit for purpose A Manfrotto head is supposed to do something, not just wobble about on top of the tripod support. Useless and my window for return is passed. The tripod head is clearly not fit for purpose, but 42photo.com system does not cater for this scenario. Update 21/07/22 - 42photo stepped in to help my case, so I'm feeling a little more generous with my score and Paypal forced the seller to provide a refund. Hopefully the seller will not be allowed to continue dealing through 42photo.

  42photo NY seems to be winning the "in stock" war with other Canon camera on-line sellers. I've been waiting for a Canon EOS R7 to be offered somewhere at a good price and an open box offering popped up at 42photo. 42photo on-line help was great in answering my question about the offering.   The camera arrived earlier than predicted. It was protected nicely in bubble wrap packaging and worked perfectly. No complaints, Haven't used it much yet, but the pics I have taken are good quality. I love the clarity of pictures and the HD videos are nice as well. I will definitely recommend and buy again.

  Outstanding Online Retailer I had a flawless experience with 42nd street photo. Found a great deal on a tripod, ordered it, everything was easy. Had a small issue with the shipping address, and the customer service fixed it right away. tripod arrived early, with pro packaging and everything was in great condition, no damage at all. I just unboxed the tripod and I had my camera hooked up and took pictures. Setup was completely simple and the instructions weren’t even needed. Will definitely use 42nd street photo for all future photography purchases!

  Horrible experience I ordered a DJI Mini 2 drone which was never delivered to me due to FedEx problems, I called the company nearly 3 days ago and they told me that they are going to refund me and we will file a claim with FedEx. I have never had this experience before at any other retailer.

  Every time I've ordered anything from this company, I have had a good experience. My last purchase was a Kodak PIXPRO camera. Couldn't be happier with it. I received a phone call from customer service to confirm the order, and it shipped within twenty four hours.   We are regulars of this 42PHOTO since our team launched their photography unit, we've purchased a new camera and a ton of equipment with Jonathan. Came in today to get a ring light for myself and had the worst customer service experience. John was rude and had terrible customer service. I was unsure if I wanted to purchase a 12inch or 18inch ring light and when I decided to purchase a 12inch to try it out and exchange for an 18inch if it wasn't what I was looking for he told us to "grow up" and just get the 18inch. Not really sure what the point of that comment was nor what relevancy it had to my purchase. Will not be returning to this location, such a shame as we've spent several thousands of dollars with Jonathan in the past and always referred people to this location until now.

  The SL2-S is my choice for general purpose travel, evening and night photography (particularly street scenes), and most action-related stuff such as my dogs. Admittedly, neither camera has the incredible autofocus capability of recent higher end Sony or Canon cameras but both the SL2 and SL2-S are capable with the edge going to the SL2-S.

  Shop review 42ND ST PHOTO remain an excellent on-line store, stocking just about everything and with great delivery. The store experience is something else. I have been to two of their flagship stores recently and the experience was the same. Each had more staff than customers yet still pointedly ignored me. They came over like old school record shop staff, deciding who is cool enough for them to deem to talk to. With such a successful online business I have no idea why they burden themselves with the overheads of staff who have such low commitment to the company.

  Cokin X-Pro Polarizer Very simple to use & gives great effects! Thin glass & does not weigh as much as conventional, thicker polarizers. Very pricey, however...compared to the entire Cokin system, and that will limit its buyers significantly. Great polarizer! Fits nicely into Z-Pro.

  Hasselblad H Series Camera My experience with 42photo has been perfect on every order. I considered ordering a Hasselblad H6D-100c kit with another large NYC dealer, but then noticed that there were bait and switch tactics at play -- first adding tax when initially none was indicated, and then trying to sell a recurring annual membership to obtain "free" shipping. 42photo has always been straight forward in their business dealings and offers impeccable customer service. It's the kind of business I find a pleasure to work with.

  Beware of their ‘Guarantee’ I purchased a lens from them just under a year ago. Good communication and delivery was fairly quick. So far so good.. Then a week ago the zoom went. I emailed them and they responded within 24 hours to get the lens repaired locally but to firstly send them a quote. I’m a 42card member so sent it off, received the quote and sent it to 42nd photo customer services. That was four days ago and they have ignored the quote completely. I’ve sent two chase emails which have also been ignored. I’m a full time wedding photographer so had no choice other than to pay for the repair to get the lens back asap. So yes they have a great price and fairly quick delivery but if this is you’re business then please be aware the customer support is garbage and I’m afraid it would appear that the guarantee isn’t worth the paper it’s written on..

  A holy temple for Canon, EOS DSLR, EOS R Mirrorless, EOS M Mirrorless, EOS SLR lenses, RF lenses, EOS M lenses.   Ilford Chemicals I normally use Kodak's stop bath (I think 42nd PHOTO was sold out that day) but this Illford brand seems to work just fine and I think it cost a few pennies less. So its like having a coupon

  A poor delivery service As usual my latest purchase from 42photo was as should be but unfortunately the post office for some reason (still unknown) decided not to deliver the parcel. A call to 42photo soon put things right and my parcel although being a week late arrived the next day. The next time I order from 42photo I will specify an alternative delivery service.

  Everything, always... Even Hen's Teeth I needed some hen's teeth (hard to source tech) for my KOMODO 6K S35 rig. My first choice was 42photo, and found everything, first try.   I’ve been in filmmaking for over 10 years and I would not know what I would do without 42photo! They have everything for a novice to pro filmmaker.   I wanted a new camera bag.. why did they throw in more stuff I wanted a new camera bag... and ordered one with a nice discount. 42nd St. PHOTO threw is a "free" monopod. I don't need a monopod -- I have the one I need. I would rather pay less for the bag than get extra free stuff. The price would call for a five star review but dealing with the monopod pulled this down.

  Delivery is SO MUCH slower than Adorama or BH. I do love 42nd PHOTO and have known it since it was a small store on 23rd street. My shopping experience is good. But my initial search in the 42nd PHOTO interface yielded nothing - then I went to google and it found the item - at 42nd PHOTO! So the search features inside 42nd PHOTO are not so great (I typed in the exact product name HP SSD P500 drive). General: You loose a LOT of my business due to slow shipping. I recently bought a $600 lens from Adorama because they could do same day and guaranteed shipping before a job. I only order here when I know I can wait a LONG time for my package.
