  Incredibly kind, knowledgeable and thoughtful staff. My point and shoot had stopped working after an exploded battery and they immediately fixed the problem, free of charge, and gave me excellent advice on another camera of mine. Honestly can’t thank them enough.

  Probably the most interesting camera shop in Manhattan. Aesthetically really cool but would not buy a camera from there due to the mess and clutter, camera’s are just thrown in boxes on top of each other.

  It’s a camera store, you can’t really go wrong with getting stuff here but for me it seems the level of service sometimes differs between person to person. I’ve never really had issue with this chain of camera stores, but the selection of lens to try sometimes isn’t exactly the best.

  Bought a Canon A1E film camera with a 50mm 1.4 aperture. Soon wanted to move on to get more different effects. So off I went to 42nd Street PHOTO. Got a 28mm . 135mm and a 70mm -210mm zoom .Great prices and quality. 100% happy with results and service. Staff have good knowledge of their products and we're very help full.

  After hearing good things about the business, I was very disappointed. The bad-tempered salesman didn't really give me the feeling of taking me seriously and apparently didn't really want to advise me either. Unfortunately, the selection of tripods that day was very small, which is why I left without having achieved anything. With my next purchase I will give 42nd photo ny another chance, but if I am disappointed again I will not enter the store again. Otherwise, I have the feeling that I'm in better hands with the competition around the corner, or I research everything online myself.

  On Saturday I was at 42nd St PHOTO to pick up my new Q2 Monochrom. John Leeds served us TOP. He was very friendly, also on the phone beforehand, and explained everything to me. I left very happy with my Q2 and his service and support. There should really be more sellers like him !! TOP John and 42nd St PHOTO.

  First impression: a real Alibaba cave. Lots of stuff in little space. Impeccable service: I walked 3 meters and there was already someone asking me how they could help me. There were other customers and at least 3 clerks. I left in 20 min with what I was looking for. I will definitely go back.

  I bought the Sony a7R IVA after trading in my a7 II at 42nd street photo, and talking with Jimmy at the store convinced me that this camera would out-perform my old DSLRs, so I traded that one as well. I use it primarily with the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, and I've been very happy with the results - and the lighter weight. The camera delivers higher quality than both of my older cameras, so I no longer needed two cameras - the a7R IVA can do it all, and better. the learning curve was short and sweet. I am very happy with this purchase, and I take it with me everywhere I go. 42nd street photo is my first choice for photographic needs. Simply outstanding customer service- for years and years.

  I always like popping and speaking with the 42nd street photo staff. It's a nice relaxed experience and the team are all really down to earth.   Greatness in a small package I love my Sony PXW-Z 90V. It makes my job much easier as a documentary filmmaker. It is compact, powerful, and equipped with all of the features and benefits I need to make a documentaries. Super-fast, hassle-free order service. I bought via their website on Saturday and I received all of my purchases on Monday; less than 48 hours delay. All that remains is to obtain Sony shotgun mic;)

  Nikon 6z ii Their retail price influenced me a lot, so thanks 42photo. Unfortunately it is too small for my cameras and lenses. Most importantly, I continue to buy from 42photo with CONFIDENCE because I know they will be there for me in tech support, Live Chat, and customer service. This camera can be had at the same price I paid 42photo from competing sellers, but you would not be getting the 42photo buying experience and incredible quick delivery. Most of my purchases from 42photo this year arrive between 24 and 48 hours of my order being submitted. In fact my last order went in late morning on a Monday and it was at my door before noon the very next day.

  Worst customer service experience of any online retailer. Incredibly slow shipping. Customer service takes days-weeks and multiple follow-up emails to respond. Waited for responses for weeks at a time. When I finally received a response, they were unable to fix the problem and instead blamed me.

  Best telephoto lens As a long time user of the EF 100-400 I was interested in moving to an RF lens to use with my R6. Awesome purchase, arrived perfectly packed in mass bubble wrap. 42nd Street Photo was particularly very helpful with my purchase. The manufacturer was slow in making their delivery to 42nd Street Photo but they communicated faithfully until I received my lenses. They were diligently keeping in the loop.

  Service excellent from advice to purchase. I used the staff at 42photo several times before making this purchase and they were always knowledgeable and gave me great advice and never tried to 'push' me into a sale. Have used 42photo for years and will continue to do so. Easy fundraising option gave $122 to my charity. Possibly website short of some items to view for cameras but advisers directed me to the item.

  I was traveling to London and was in search of a good quality camera. I was always into art but never really got into photography. I called 42nd street photo for advice and they suggested the Nikon D500. I didn't really know how to use it at first but once I got the feel for it, there was no looking back. The camera works wonders when it comes to landscape photography. The ISO is amazing. It's probably the best out of all the Nikon series. Not to long ago I did my first wedding and now...I own my own my business. will come back for anything 42nd street photo stocks for future purchases.

  FedEx dropped my expensive camera onto the ground, The packaging wasn't damaged at all, but still, I mean it was covered in fragile parcel tape. I rang 42nd street photo straight away because I was damn furious, my complaint was going to be passed on to a manager and they were going to call me back. Haven't heard a word! Utter rubbish customer services.

  I bought a lens advertised as new. The item was shipped quickly, however when it arrived it was obvious the lens was not as advertised and was missing parts. Customer support did not respond to any communications. Eventually I was able to speak to someone after several weeks and was offered a $115 refund (which would be 1%). I was assured they had plenty of this product in stock, however when I requested that I would like to swap the item, all of a sudden that plentiful supply of stock was gone. They requested I return the lens to them before I would receive a refund, however based on their track record with fulfilling orders and poor form for issuing refunds I had no choice but to decline, as I could not be confident I would ever receive a refund from them. Personally I will be steering clear of 42nd Photo in the future, if they are around for much longer, which I personally don't believe they will be. You only have to look at their social media to see more unhappy customers than happy and many orders not fulfilled, yet money taken. They appear to be going the way of Olympus. (PS: This review is about 42photo as a company and not their NY shop personally. The NJ has some very good and experienced staff. The dealings I have had with those individuals has been flawless. However, the company as a whole is a let down sadly and this review is about my experience with the overall company).

  Went there to do sensor cleaning for my Sony A7III. After a day and $130 spend, sensor still had few dust particles on it, so went back to the shop for a redo. The guy was blaming my lens and saying that the sensor is perfectly clean. Eventually he checked it again, but he was very aggressive and didn't want to admit his mistake as I was right all the time, doing photography for 2 decades and I know what I'm saying. Terrible customer service, I'll never go back there.

  The most unpleasant and unprofessional customer experience in my whole life by far. I believe 42nd St. PHOTO and wife might be great people. No doubt. However I never had the chance to dealt with a mid-age woman there (she might be their daughter). She is awful, rude, insulting and extremely unprofessional. Everyone deserves to be treated in the same professional manner, no matter if you are going to spend a big or a small amount of money. This woman shouldn't be dealing with customers. Moreover, she behaved like a mad person. Customers in New York need to be warned and know this. Especially cruel her behavior as I am noticeable pregnant and after telling her that the passport pics were for an admission in a hospital. This woman doesn't know how to control her temper and how to deal with people. Not everything is about the products you sell, it's about a normal and pleasant customer experience. DO NOT GO THERE. It's not worth it. You'll save yourself a very upsetting and unfair experience.

  I purchased a Nikon f2.8 300 mm lens from 42nd Street Photo a few weeks ago and have now been using it working for local media company photographing their games.   I came to buy a new camera lens that was over $2000. 42nd street photo did a price match which reduced the cost slightly and also gave me a top price for my old lens to trade in. I am very please with the purchase and the staff were very polite and helpful. A great place to shop.

  item not delivered Not so much a review for 42photo but for the delivery service they use. Item wasnt delivered because DHL is terrible, I mean absolutely useless. I never have issues with deliveries from amazon. As long as other companies at least dont try to match amazons delivery service, they will loose out.

  42nd St. Photo five stars, FedEx zero stars Ordered my camera at the end of July and have just received it. This was due to short supplies not 42nd Photo who have be good all the way through. I have deducted one star for FedEx who were meant to deliver the next day (Friday). They missed the next day due to strikes, but didn't deliver until Monday as they charge extra for Saturday delivery. Poor show FedEx.

  Fantastic used equipment service Ordered a used lens at 9pm Tuesday and it was delivered on Thursday morning. Lens was, if anything, in better condition than advertised - it looks like new. Have bought many times from 42nd Photo and have never been disappointed.

  Astonishing right out of the box The Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH Lens is sharp edge to edge. This lens is good for a variety of shooting situations. Great price, and very fast shipping. Customer services were very quick to respond via email. Very happy with my purchase.

  Prompt and Honest My repair was estimated to take around 2-3 weeks but it was done and delivered back to me in 4 working days. It was repaired to excellent quality (my SD card holder had broke) and I was given an SD card free of charge which I am grateful for. There was constant communication all the way through. I posted my camera in a make-shift gift box with lots of random wrapping but it was posted back in way better packaging the original gift box. I paid $168 which was a fraction of what other companies had quoted me.

  Fantastic on price (I've bought big ticket items several times and they're always considerably cheaper), and bearing in mind they come from NY, the delivery is pretty speedy too. The Canon 100-500mm lens I bought recently was scheduled to take up to 10 days and it arrived in 4! Always well packaged and delivered securely by courier who let you know good time slot info etc. Highly recommend them!
