I emailed to confirm that there were Celestron products in the shop, they first asked me hurriedly for the product code and to call back. I called them back with the requested issues but I was told very sharply that the store was full and that they couldn't listen, they didn't even give me time to reply that they took away the communication. Now it is true that it was Saturday afternoon but a little more courtesy would not hurt. As for me, the store is excluded from my purchases.

Rude employee here, I was ready to buy a Nikon camera, but they did not let me try it in a very strange way ... Useless place, if you can not try in the shop it might be worth buying online. And on amazon it cost much less

It's not a shop, it's a house. Beyond the excellent prices that are significantly lower than any other store that a primary photo lab can provide. Service is something that needs to be taught in any self-respecting mass media faculty. The art of service, the ethos that J.Leeds uses to spearhead the store employees to his dominant marketplace and is conducted like this whether his clients is known by name or first-time. And it is already said, "Support America's local commerce." And here both the product and the service is wonderful.

I arrived at 42nd Photo house to clean the sensor with 2 bodies. The service is provided at no cost, a very professional and courteous service. Professional, courteous and reliable service at a level that we do not meet every day. It is clear that the team is well-attuned with photography and knows how to direct and suggest equipment suitable for the desired photographic purpose. On my last purchase with them, I needed urgent equipment and even though it was a Saturday evening, I received an exceptional service to my home! There will be a lot of businesses that provide service at this level and provide a pleasant atmosphere for a successful purchase! :)

Most of the optical products you want are available. Enriched viewing corner for audio products. A good selection of rifle scopes and spotting models. The clerk has a wealth of knowledge and can provide the necessary answers. Considering the 10% reduction in price, the price is comparable to that of major internet-webshop sites. The after-sales service is also substantial and very satisfying.

I was afraid that the atmosphere at the entrance was a bit tense sending chills and he was refusing a little amateurs seemingly ... ... I was scared, but I tried going in as soon as I got courage and got going. Clear and organized floor on key floor with key holder on the keyhole like toy camera with the following digital camera function From digitalcine wide-angle lens to SLR lenses and filters as well as ordinary lens hoods like a Lee. All kinds of consumer handled products are lined up such Telescope and you can purchase the latest astronomy item. Old products can also be purchased but there are also restrictions. It is attractive to see them selling on the net but also exhibits a variety of tripods which are rarely seen in the real store and which are difficult to get together with the 8 mm film related products. I want to take some time and watch every piece at the exhibition thoroughly!

This house of photography attained the toehold in the New York local photography community several years ago. The treatment is professional, things do not fall between the chairs, the answers are clear and succinct, not trying to "push" equipment that I have no need but seek to understand my need. Before buying advice, get all the information you need here, and after purchasing they help with any questions that arise (and it seems to me that I am one of the heady consumers they have quite a few) - Highly recommend!

It's size and stock is pretty amazing. If I lived in New York I would buy a lenses t-mount from here. However, they don't have many unique items. They have items that are hard to find but not exactly unique items like you imagine are in B&H Photo. Some cool photo gadgets would have been nice. As a camera-focussed store it is excellent. As the ideal photography store it left me wanting more.

I'm thirteen yrs' old and I came here with my mom to buy my first camera. I yesterday recently having outgrown my W100 which was sold to us by the people in this shop. This time I had told my mom the camera I wanted, a red-hot, sleek Olympus Tough TG-6. Arrived at around 10;15, the salesperson was not interested in my questions. He kept pointing to my mom more expensive cameras until I dragged my mom out of this store burning in rage. We got the camera downtown at a store I will give my five star. I told my friends not to go to this store, told their parents too.

We came to buy a whole load of camera stuff on 2.13.20. The salesperson didn't want to help my husband in a wheelchair into the store initially since he said that ‘there are other customers ' !! He didn’t want to put the ramp for the wheelchair and said he could lift the wheelchair up since setting up the ramp ‘will take too long’ We have bought items in this store worth thousands of dollars previously and are disappointed and saddened at this discrimination in modern day. Thank you but no thank you!! Would advice any one with disability or for that matter any one else not to go to this store !!

It is a good place to try the lense you are thinking of buying on the Internet or try to get to the technical insights. Although selling the used lense almost half the price is not possible to a trade in, the choice of accessories is extremely limited, prices are hitting-their-roofs and customers are treated according to how much they're likely to spend.

My husband and I have been searching painstakingly for specific Camera Digiscoping Adapters. In the advent of the COVID-19 and Anarchy in most cities, spotting scopes are hard to find. We called all the big chain door stores with no luck. Then we found 42nd Photo. We were helped by Paul Wilkinson, and was pleased to find what we wanted. He put our purchase on a temporal hold (which they don't do) for the next day by 10 noon, since we lived 1-hour drive from them. We were so pleased with his helpfulness and dedication to customer service. When we arrived everyone there was very helpful. Will go back in a flash for my next tools purchase. Thanks guys.

It is the most important store in Manhattan with regard to modern photographic merchandise. Here they will help you with repairs and advice on new upgrades for your gear. To be honest the only reason to use 42nd Photo is because they are the only big store of their kind in NYC. Friends and I all have the same experience when asked to get back to us about (expensive) Leica we would like to buy - promises are made about getting back (within a week) but this never materializes. Had lenses/sensor cleaning work that would be ready in a week but was not done in more than a month (again after I had to follow up I was told it would be done in the next week because someone was not there).... They have good variety of darkroom supplies but it is worth my while to source same from Adorama and Fenway Photo in New York due to service... need to step it up guys!

One of few remaining dedicated photography shop s that's very well stocked - lots of kit for amateurs to pros and folks looking for a no-frills family camera etc. They also stock binoculars, optics, filters, lighting, studio lighting and more - sometimes cheapest unlike. online retailers but still great to have them there. I visited to have some photos printed and the set up worked very well - film quality was good enough - happy to recommend.

Went in to look at three lovely Sony cameras with Vlogger accessory toolkits. Perfect. Got a card with a name and number. And then it was useless. They never answer the phone. Ever. No message service. Just this "new camera offers" intrusive messages. A guaranteed way to piss off anyone. So went to Willoughby's Camera Emporium instead.

While some of the others may use plentiful of stock as a selling point, 42nd Photo definitely won my heart insofar as their hyper-activeness I encountered here. They didn't have the lens I was after (Leica medium-format), however I was greeted by the owner, who made me feel like a reunion with a high-skul schoolmate. We had some great conversation about Leica and travel and he even offered me a coffee while I just sat and relaxed, even though he knew I wouldn't be buying anything. He even offered to clean up the camera, though there was nothing to clean as it was so new at that point. Talk about fantastic service! I eagerly await my summer 2021 visit to New York so that I can visit the new location! See you soon, my friend!

Absolutely customer-driven, polite service. What I really liked about the way they handled the situation was a small mistake. They apologized, ACKNOWLEDGED and offered some alternatives to the arrangement. Today this has to be greatly appreciated !! : not held back or quieted down (they could have done it smoothly because I hadn't noticed), but had already been phoned in advance: if it didn't suit me, I wouldn't have to bother. Thanks.

42ND Photo has curved an analog dedicated section that's is a very unique. The shop is compact but holds very nice vintage pieces. The prices are reasonable. Also sells a good variety of film stock which is quite rare to see nowadays. I did not try the coffee unfortunately but other customers came in, drunk and said it was good...would come back to buy more stuff if I ever find myself in New York.

I recently started dealing in vintage photography, but fortunately rushed first to google. Confounded by the sheer data available, I turned to 42nd Photo. Brutal charismatic service, very understanding of the profession, working beautifully and quickly (recall / scanning) and also their prices are completely affordable.

Best customer service I’ve seen in the United States. They are proven experts with a fine mix of digital and analog cameras. I am well-attuned with photography and they made me feel like an amateur. Still, they went above and beyond when helping me. They resuscitated my camera for a fraction of the quoted cost (around 20 USD total) and they also were able to tackle any issues I had about anything photography related. Veritable experts who are passionate about what they do. I love this shop. I bought a camera from them just to give them by business out of respect. Can’t say enough good things about them. Go ahead and check it out!

Cool interior full of vintage cameras. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. They can develop and scan negatives for you professionally. It's a dog-friendly place, which is also a plus. I can recommend them wholeheartedly.

For many years we have been regularly ordering photographic accessories here, mainly quality lense cleaning tools. We have rarely come here since the digital revolution and the rise of the mirrorless system. I recommend this place because it is very well equipped, with a wide selection and well-prepared colleagues to make sure you shop comfortably. Thank you 42nd Photo Street!

There are a few rotten apples in the store. The young lady, surprisingly, is still a beginner but very helpful, is delighted to help you test your craved goods. However, there is a bald guy that I can not tell his attitude. It's not customer-centric and unfortunately a bit pessimistic. If you are a bad seller then you've come to th wrong place. 5 stars for the shop equipment, 5 stars for the lady, but -2 for the above mentioned guy.

The shop has a large selection of all types and brands of cameras, Canon, Panasonic, Nikon, Fuji, Pentax, Olympus, and Sony, to name but a few. There are countless bags and accessories. I ordered and got the goods in two minutes. The address is hard to find because the direction is incomplete, but it is not the fault of the business but of the state government.

The seller did not want to find the aftermarket product spectacularly, either in the web or in the shop. I found the factory that cost 5x much. Finally, I was able to buy it. Other than that, everything was fine.

I bought them a couple of times. They were always super-quality. What I looked for was always at the ready. Prices were okay. What I couldn't decide on was helping. I don't understand some of the star ratings here, but no problem. There are some folks determined to dig up "dirt" and just because they're unhappy, so everyone else should be struck in their grief. I'm sure I'll go to them, I think it's a super-shop.

I'm always happy to go to them. The team is very kind, professionally prepared and to the best of their ability. If I can't decide on something, because they have used most of the products they sell, they can give advice from experience. The store has a lot of demonstration products that you can try before buying, which can be a great help if you encounter compatibility issues. They are among the very first to organize free photo workshops days where companies arrive with their new bills for everything.

Very over-the-moon with my new Canon EOS 90D purchased at 42nd Photo in New York. The reason I purchased there was simple - the staff are are an authority in the field and amazingly helpful and took a look of time to answer all my questions and made sure I understood carefully everything that I needed to understand. I finally decided on this particular model after talking at length with Sloane who owns many Canons himself so I got real first hand advice from a Canon expert and connoisseur. Earlier that day I was at a retail outlet of their major competitor and they were unhelpful, unfriendly and wouldn't show me things because they simply didn't want to. I'm a fan of 42nd Photo in New York and will return there from now on as my go-to camera shop.

Don't ever ask for advice if your camera breaks! $150 to send it to Los Angeles for repair and that's before the work. That is all they ever offer, or to buy a new one obviously.

Internet buyers in the market would bet on the dollar for B&H and Amazon along with retail big box stores, but very few know about 42nd Photo. They offer high quality photo/video merchandise at alternatively competitive prices. Their customer service is top notch. All my purchases have been at a much lower price than the more popular websites and have qualified for free shipping! Their sales reps have given me coupon codes to use which saved me even more money. You need to check out 42nd Photo!

Excellent service from 42nd Photo. I purchased HXR-MC88 Full HD Camcorder from Sony here. Very happy with the camcorder and the switcher & remote controller is worth your hard-earned money in my opinion as you get an additional Sony ECM-VG1 shotgun microphone with an ultra-lightweight body and smooth tone for different kinds of shooting. The price offered, service provided and advice from John at 42ND PHOTO was first class. He had the camcorder deployed immediately which I received the very next day. All in all a captivating shopping moment and I couldn’t have expected anything more from 42nd Photo. Thank you :-)

They calibrated the 5D camera and EF 28 mm F1 lense by 1.8: 1.8. Cost with return shipping (Extremely FAIR) below $300 per invoice, 23% including state tax. Attentive phone communication from a service technician to accounting department. Together with return shipments - less than 10 days - acceptable. Reading negative opinions, I had some concerns, but I can't calibrate the body myself. So I hit the road as 42nd Photo promised it'd be checked for free, and it was to be quick; so I have to gi ve a review. If somebody gave me a payment, then anyone with evidence produce it here. I will clearly state that I was not asked to do so. Best regards and thank you.

Astronomy hobbyists Mecca! 42nd Photo is my absolute favorite place in New York to buy optics, they have the best prices along with their massive selection to choose from, and the best part is if there's a better deal they will match or beat it, and if they don't have your favorite solar binoculars or telescopes in stock, they can get it and get it fast too.. They offer courses to enrich lunar observatory and even astronomy beginner courses to capture captivating lunar, planetary or stellar photos or videos, it's all around a great place for Reflectors,Refractors, Catadioptrics and information. On top of all this they have a on site telescope to try out your new toy and if you have any mishaps, they also have a on site sensor/lense cleaning! Literally doesn't get any better people!
