  Agus was an excellent guide, very friendly and very knowledgeable. We had a great day with him and highly recommend his guiding services. He was able to spontaneously include a visit to a local temple where many children at all ages were preparing for a dance performance. We were able to spend time with them as they were getting into their costumes and then the littlest girls did an impromptu dance for us. He just happened to spot it as we were driving by and stopped to ask if it was OK. We loved it.

  Diego is an amazing tour guide. Not only is he knowledgeable, but he is well connected as he knows all the good shops and restaurants (and owners), he is very responsive to emails and calls, and he is willing to adjust the itinerary to fit your needs. Book a tour with Diego; you will not regret it.

  I had a long layover of 14 hours in the Casablanca airport. I reserved a tour the night before due to a last minute decision. I really wasn't expecting to get a response because of my own tardiness. To my surprise I received a quick response and the tour was on. Issam picked me up at the airport and we were on our way. It was as though I was meeting up with an old friend. Issam's personality was such that he made me feel quite at ease. He was informative both historically as well as in current events.

  Irina clearly knows Antwerp. Very nice and pleasant tour. We have learned a lot about the city. Its architecture, inhabitants, culture, and delicatessen. Highlight for me was the storytelling around a few of the beautiful painting pieces of Rubens in the cathedral and the jezuïeten church. Highly recommend tour.

  Helen is a great tour guide. We had wonderful communication prior to our tour and she tailored our experience to our interests. Helen kept us well-fed, allowing us to sample the real food of Saigon. Helen has a lot of energy and is a great tour guide.

  Our party of 6 have just completed a tour with Rohan, and we nothing but outstanding comments. Rohan was available at 7:30 am on January 1st, to begin our adventure to explore the South Coast around Sydney. Rohan had a great blend of history and personal insight into Sydney and Austrlaia and you could easily see his loved in sharing his passion for Australia with us. We would have loved to had him continue our trip with for his knowledge and highly recommend everyone to consider him for future trips.

  Did a tour with Mr Yankee on 16 December and it has been wonderful! Mr Yankee extensive knowledge of the places he brought us to & his sense of humour were spot on. He reached early & allow us to choose the itinerary/places we would like to go. Additionally, really appreciative of him arranging the tour in a way that's not too clashing with other groups. An additional plus point on his marvellous photo taking skills ��. 10/10 will booked again. Car is clean & comfortable too!

  Ines is a wonderful guide with extensive knowledge of Ushuaia and Tierre del Fuego. She's also a lovely person. We toured the national park extensively and learned a lot about the local environment, culture & history. She is adept at getting to sites and avoiding the large bus tours as much as possible. I highly recommend her.

  We had a 3 hour private tour with him through Nuremberg, & he showed us historical buildings along with the deep history of each place we visited. There's not 1 question we asked that he didn't know. Out of the many countries we have visited he's by far the best tour guide we have ever had. He had excellent eye contact, & kept the 4 of us equally engaged while walking & getting on subways, which we didn't always experience with every tour guide while in Germany. Thank you, Jason!

  Francisco - Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, was not only informative about his country, he easily adapted our tour to meet our preferences. Additionally, one of our group had mobility challenges and Francisco was very understanding, even offering to and pushing the wheelchair for us. A wonderful experience, he really wanted to ensure we had a great day . . . and we did!

  Kawasaki Hiroko-san planned our day to Mount Koya in November meticulously with all intent for us to get the best tour, including a Michelin-starred dining experience. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about the place and gave us a lot of options and flexibility. She has a great sense of humour, established quite the rapport immediately and is fluent in English. I would book another tour again with her when we're in Osaka. Be prepared to do a lot of walking around Koyasan. We always felt safe and comfortable at all times with her. Hiroko-san put her heart and soul into our day trip. This very experienced guide is highly recommended.

  Our family had the best day with Raul, and the tour far surpassed our expectations. He has so much knowledgeable to share and really helped us understand and appreciate the history and rich cultural heritage of this area of Mexico. The sisal plant and hacienda were very interesting, a favorite part of the tour. You could not ask for a better guide!

  Pablo was truly awesome- such a comprehensive guide. His English is impeccable. He knows so much not only about the Geography of the region but just about everything related. He is also a very interesting person to talk to. The biggest plus factor is that he goes beyond being a guide. His planning is time perfect. He also has backup plans in place. We had an aggressive schedule over two days but it was accomplished with ease. The trip in itself was fantastic. Northwestern Argentinia should not be missed - Every experience is so unique. Pablo made it even more enriching. I recommend him unhesitatingly

  Willow was an exceptional guide. We enjoyed spending our day with her as she planned the schedule well. We had so many places that we wanted to go and Willow scheduled the visits to these places excellently. She spoke very good English and showed much knowledge as she introduced the sights to us. Her car is very big and clean, and she is a very steady and safe driver. She found a good lunch place to suit our dietary needs and was always at hand to help with our questions. She is highly recommended!

  Prompt, personable, knowledgeable experience with Patrick Lally on tour to Hobbiton made for a spectacular day and great photos and memories.   The 1 hour walking tour of Bratislava with Eva was so great! Gave us so much information and was lowkey super funny. Her sense of humor is fantastic! History, jokes and puns. She even let the tour go a little longer as we were all having a lot fun! She is such a sweet lady Book it!

  We had a wonderful tour of Cartagena with Wilson! With a driver & a guide, we were able to get around the city with ease & see the walled city, the murals, the fortress, & the hilltop monastery. We had a delicious Colombian lunch & were able to shop & get back to our cruise in plenty of time. We loved the city & would love to return to see more!

  I love being able to book local guides at places I visit, so Tours by Locals is a great concept and made booking a guide that I might not have had access to easy. My friend and I did a private 2-day tour with Sopheak to Angkor Wat and the "floating" islands with many stops along the way. Sopheak is a kind and gracious English-speaking guide who is very well versed in the history and culture of his country. He willingly and capably answered all the questions we threw at him and showed up places we would have missed if we would have attempted on our own. I highly recommend Sopheak.

  We had a lot of fun during our day in Busan with Ellie. She picked us up at port and drove us all over town visiting photo spots, the Gamcheon Culture Village, the Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, we ate a delicious Korean BBQ for lunch and then she took us to the aerial tram. I do recommend paying a little extra for the glass bottom tram. One day isn't nearly long enough to spend in Busan, and we plan to return someday, but Ellie definitely fit in as much fun as she could before we had to return to port.

  Raul is an amazing tour guide. This day was easily our best day in the Yucatan. He took us to Uxmal, which is as good or better than Chichen Itza. His tour was very interesting. He is incredibly knowledgeable about Mayan history. He was able to answer all of our questions very thoroughly. His English is great and he is a great communicator. He then took us to Kabah and the other sites on the Ruta Puuc. We highly recommend Raul and this tour.

  Dario was helpful from the day we booked always there with answers to our questions since even before we met. On the day we met Dario and Sacha our driver, we instantly felt safe and in good hands. Dario was so full of information and with his calm and relaxed way he managed to make us feel as if we have known him for ever. Sacha kept us safe on the road and between the two of them they managed to give us a great and very informative memorable day in North Croatia. Thanks and hope to meet you again.

  Our day at Alhambra was fantastic. Our guide Elena Garcia made it come alive with her knowledge of Alhambra and the history of Spain. Her story telling was excellent and her ability to use her graphic pictures and diagrams made everything even easier to understand. My wife was still recovering from back surgery and could not be on her feet for extended times. Elena had arranged to rent a wheel for the day which was a lifesaver.

  Our full day tour of the Panama City area with Juan was nothing short of fantastic. Juan was punctual, picking us up at our hotel, precisely at the appointed time and returning us on schedule after a full day of seeing the wonderful sights of Panama City. Juan selected the tour route with minimal input from us and was right on target with what he picked out for us to see. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and also with the current status. I highly recommend this guide and tour.

  We had the most fabulous day with Nuno, the weather wasn't the best but Nuno enquired as to what we liked to do and worked the day around this even driving us to the Alps to see the snow I had never seen before!   Juan Pablo was helpful and quick to respond to my questions and I was able to easily adjust a tour with him for our specific needs. We ended up adding 4 other people from our tour group and that wasn't a problem. Saw the volcano, village, two hummingbird spots, walked along the river, drank some great coffee, all at a pace where he let us do what we wanted.

  Judi T. provided a tremendous tour. She is exceptionally knowledgeable, personable, and enthusiastic. The Death in Paradise tour was fantastic. Judi provided a lot of insight on the show's settings and background. She made sure we visited all the locations. It could not have been better. Afterwards, we went to Deshasies botanical garden. We were impressed with her knowledge of the plants, tress. etc. There is nothing like a private tour with someone as knowledgeable as Judi. Highly recommend Judi.

  We had a wonderful 10-day tour of northern Laos with Mr. Vong and driver Mr. Somphone. He made modifications to our trip as needed due to an overnight tour of the hospital we hadn't planned on. He made sure we got the care needed, translated, and guided us in the hospital. He chose excellent places to eat along the way, and the accommodations he booked were exactly what we needed. He made sure we had AC, a Western toilet, and a big bed. The sites and environment of the mountainous area are stunning. Laos is an amazing country to visit especially with the best guide ever! Thank you, Mr. Vong.

  This was a wonderful tour. We really enjoyed the day and saw far more than we ever could have by ourselves. He really brought the history alive and we learnt a lot about Marrakech and Morocco from someone who is so passionate about the country. It was great to spend time with him. We had fresh bread hot from a community bakery, tasted olives and local sweets, and saw deep inside the world of the souks. Thanks very much, we'd highly recommend this tour.

  Marta with Tours by Locals did such an amazing job taking care of us! She met us promptly and gave us a very informative walking tour of Krakow. She pointed out highlights, answered questions, and was so warm and friendly. When we went to Auschwitz she always walked us to where we needed to be and met us again so we never wondered what we needed to do next. Her knowledge of the area is incredible. She is so thoughtful too and even called ahead to have an authentic dinner experience for us. All 5 of us highly recommend her.

  We had such a wonderful day. Eric was a great guide, very knowledgeable and accommodating. He is friendly and speak very good English. We felt like the tour was worth every penny. We never could have had this experience on our own. This was our first experience with Toursbylocals and it did not disappoint. The places that were selected for the tour gave us a great feel for Vietnam, but especially being able to ask questions of Eric and get his personal insights was special. Thank you for a great day!

  SIMPLY PERFECT! We (3 couples) were in town for the Army Navy game and after a great football win for Army, we thought a Boston tour on Sunday would be nice. It was better than nice!! Christian's history acumen was immeasurable and his personable style resulted in the most perfect historical journey of Boston's key sites. Highly highly recommend Christian to anyone going to Boston. Thank you Christian for making our weekend perfect.

  Mr. Gonzalez provides a superb tour of the Panama Canal. He is very knowledgeable about the Canal specifically and of Panamanian history in general. He is most informative, presenting information in a very logical, entertaining and accessible manner. He is a very personable man with a sense of humor while delivering the salient facts of the tour. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr. Gonzalez for any tour he might offer. The entire tour was excellent!

  We had such a great time thanks to Angela! She approached our tour with her with such care and put so much effort into making sure we were enjoying our time in Bangkok. She catered the experience to us perfectly and had great recommendations for sightseeing, food, and drink. We were able to cover a lot of ground thanks to our tuk tuk driver (Mr. Boy) and Angela had all the logistics and details arranged seamlessly. Highly recommended--5 stars for sure!

  We really enjoyed our tour of Toronto. Leon, our tour guide, made us feel very comfortable and was accommodating to our special requests. He created a welcoming atmosphere, encouraging questions and fostering a lively dialogue throughout the tour. His knowledge of the city's history and culture greatly enhanced our experience.

  We had an amazing day touring Porto with Ricardo. He was incredibly knowledgeable. showed us all the expected sights and some hidden gems, gave us amazing local insight, and was an all-around joy to spend a day with. He truly goes above and beyond for his clients. I have dietary restrictions and well after the tour was over he returned to our hotel to drop off a basket with local pastries that I would be able to eat. Cannot recommend Ricardo highly enough.

  Dewa is a very good guide. He communicates well and his English is good. Our tour was not easy, with a very early start, but he was on time and we had no difficulties. His vehicle is very comfortable. He was responsive to our requests and took initiative to suggest changes that made the itinerary easier or more suitable for us. I recommend his services to those visiting Bali.

  I had the best day in Artis company and he was very helpful in the whole process of booking the bike at the rental company to getting there by train, taxi etc. The trip itselv was so nice as we rode in mountains with a lot of curves and twisties as well as ocean senic roads and 3-lanes highways. And we never drove too fast so it was easy to feel safe when driving in the left side (I normally don't in my home country.) So my best compliments to Arti (Arkira san) for making my day. /Stefan - Denmark

  This was my first trip to Okinawa to visit my family roots and Masumi our guide made it very special. She escorted me to my grandfather's old family property and even knocked on neighbors doors to gather information that would help me find locations in the neighborhood from 1945' Neighbors were very welcoming to Masumi' and were happy to assist us and even walk with us through the neighborhood that has changed so much. I never met my grandfather so this trip was very meaningful to me. Thank you Masumi!

  Patricia was a delight and knows the sites very well. This helped in her plans to beat the crowds and buses at every site. She is an authority on history, culture and day to day life on Rapa Nui. Patricia went out of her way to please us, including stops so we could pick up personal items. She added information on where to eat, walks and where we could easily visit on our own time. We felt we received the best 2 tours- a day tour and a ½ day tour on our short 2 night visit to Rapa Nui. I highly recomend Patricia and if I ever have the privilege to return to Rapa Nuisance, I would not hesitate to do another tour with Patricia. Rapa Nui is expensive travel, but I felt the best value of our trip was the tour with Patricia.

  Denis could not have been a better tour guide! He suggested great spots for our short timeframe and was so knowledgeable about the area and the country. We learned more from him on our tour than we did for whole days on our own. He also put up with my crazy kids trapped in the car with him during a traffic jam with extreme grace and humor!

  Emelda Frank provided an amazing day around the island for the four of us. She was knowledgeable with a great sense of humor and infectious laugh. She knew all of the must-see places and also took us off the beaten track. We had time for a swim while having a great lunch at that beach. We were returned to the ship with no worries of running late. I wish I was coming back in the near future because I would have Emelda drive us again. I highly recommend using her for your tour.

  Emilio is a really personable thoughtful guide. He made our day very enjoyable. He is very knowledgeable, transport is good. He took us to the National park. It was much better than a bus tour. This really is a beautiful part of the world. The National park walks Emilio took us on are a moderate difficulty walk. Not hard at all. That was what we wanted.

  Young is the best!! The insights he shared with us and being history buffs we were mesmerized. My sister and I truly enjoyed our time, in particular the discussions we had about the people & culture of South Korea. Young also knows the best photo spots. We took more photos in that 9 hours vs a week in Seoul. We had lunch at this "only local knows this spot" and I am still dreaming of the 5 grain drink with ice cream he told us to taste!! Thanks Young for great time!!

  It was the first time I have used ToursByLocals and I was very pleased with my Belgrade between East and West tour. My guide Miljan was great; charming and highly knowledgeable about the sights and history of Serbia and the Balkan region which really helps to understand the context of all that one sees in Belgrade. The Fortress and surrounding Kalemegdan area is already visually impressive, high over the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, but Miljan really brought the place alive, as he did for our visit to Kemun; that's the difference between an OK guide and an outstanding one like Miljan. The short bios are useful to get a feel for the potential guide, depending on the type or style of tour you are looking for.

  I can't recommend this tour highly enough. It was a great day. Communication with Luis before the trip was excellent. Luis was punctual and knowledgeable, and this was a great way to learn about how Tequilla is produced (fascinating) and to visit the beautiful town of Tequilla. There were four of us and the car trip was very comfortable.

  It was a great day with Gustavo. He was very prompt to meet us at the ship terminal. He had a well planned itinerary which he reviewed before we left. The stops were well planned to give us a background of the history and culture of Manta. His descriptions of each sight were thorough and interesting. He was considerate of our needs.   We had the pleasure of a half-day tour with Natalia, which she tuned perfectly to fit our itinerary. Natalia met us at the airport as we returned from Bora-Bora, helped us to secure our luggage in an airport locker (for our later International flight), then whisked us off on a tour around the larger (Nui) Island of Tahiti. Her knowledge of history, events, customs, government structure, botany, etc., was simply amazing. 5 hours flew by in a most interesting and enjoyable way. I highly recommend her!

  We had a fantastic three days with Chamrong in the Siem Reap area. We managed to cover so much, ranging from all the major temples , a lovely jungle hike to a waterfall and boat trip to villages on Ton le Sap. Chamrong was an excellent guide who was very knowledgeable about both the history and culture connected to the Angkor Wat complex. He was always on time and keen to understand what we wanted to see and do. He is a kind, gentle and respectful man and we were enjoyed finding out about his family and daily life.

  We had a great day with Carmine who truly "made lemonade out of lemons!" The Amalfi Coast was mostly shrouded in low clouds and rain, so he changed the tour. After a couple of calls to his friends, we ended up visiting a ceramic factory and an olive oil factory. It was harvest season, so we got to see the entire process of making the olive oil (plus a tasting!). When we decided to do Pompeii after all (rain stopped), he was miraculously able to get his favorite archeological guide for us. Thanks Carmine!

  We did 2 separate tours with Coco. She was extremely knowledgeable about the history as well as the historical landmarks throughout Hiroshima, Miyajima Island, and surrounding areas. She met us at our hotel lobby each day and accompanied us on trains, cable cars and ferries. Coco was easy to coordinate with before our arrival and we were able to customize our trip. She is 3rd generation from Hiroshima and shared her personal stories with us while taking us to some locations that were not as popular with the tourists. She was fun to be around, her English is great, and she was also able to communicate with one of our guests in Spanish. I would highly recommend her as a guide in Hiroshima.

  I just returned from an enjoyable and educational 4hr tour of Baltimore by Justin and would highly recommend him if you're visiting the city. We drove around the entire city taking in sights from the car but also getting out to walk around numerous times. Justin has lived in the city for nearly 20yr and has an encyclopedic knowledge of its history and contemporary culture which he shares with friendly enthusiasm. Very impressed!

  We had just the most delightful day in Ibiza with Ann. She took us to areas we never knew existed (like the salt flat ponds and her favourite private beach) and gave us a truly unique experience. She is very knowledgeable and kept us interested the entire time. Ann was very personable and we felt we said goodbye to a new friend after our tour. She was also willing to take us wherever we wanted to go but we relied on her judgement for off the path sites. The best touring day that gave us a lot of memories!

  Mark was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable and described all of the sites with amazing precision and knowledge. He made the revolutionary war.   Our tour with Kay was a fun and informative experience that I would recommend to anyone. I am a high school student who was in Charleston for the first time. Kay was able to deliver a very informative and explanatory illustration of Charlestons history. I think that Kay, as a former teacher, was able to explain difficult or confusing topics in a way that was interesting to both me and my parents. Kay also has a very friendly and bubbly personality which makes her a pleasure to listen to.

  Raul is a most generous, kind, thoughtful, well informed guide! His English is excellent. We couldn't have asked for anyone better! We learned a great deal not only about the sights we visited, but also about Mexican history and culture. We had thought we might customize the trip, but decided the one he outlined was perfect.   We had a great day with Luis on a personalized tour. We started at 8:00am to go to Guachimontones Archaeological site where he provided a very knowledgable and interesting tour. We returned to Guadalajara and had lunch in the Centro at Cafe Doloris before we walked to the Hospicio Cabañas for an excellent discussion about the Orozco murals. Along the way Luis pointed out various buildings and shared historical information. We highly recommend Luis.

  Our trip to Merida was so memorable partly because of Raul. This tour was fantastic! We learned so much about Uxmal, the Mayans and the history of the area from him. He is very knowledgeable and was very happy to answer our questions. He also took us to not just one, but 2 cenotes. Both locations were fantastic! Raul was very kind and courteous, offered his help with pictures and suggested a great lunch spot in a small town. After lunch we were taken to an abandoned sisal hacienda, off the beaten track and it was fantastic. Throughout the tour, he was very engaging and great to talk to. He provided us with information on places to go for food and shopping in Merida and even gave us a courtesy side visit to Progresso. He was also very accommodating and flexible with the itinerary. Our crew was very happy to just hang out and have a conversation with him. Overall, I highly recommend having Raul to be your tour captain when you are in Merida!

  I only had a short time in Bangkok to explore and Ms. Vanna was able to make the most out of it for me. The highlights she chose were varied and excellent. We explored the Chao Praya River on a private boat where we got to see how people live as well as the big Buddha. We went to several temples and she was able to provide detailed commentary on the historical and cultural significance and the different architectural styles of buildings and where they originated. We also had the best Pad Thai.

  Raychan was an outstanding guide! Picked us up punctually at the hotel, and surprised us with a delightful cookie. On the way to the National Park, he treated us to refreshing coconuts. In the park, he showed us the most beautiful spots and captured special moments with wonderful family photos. Afterwards, we headed to the breathtaking Grote Knip beach, where we swam and enjoyed ice cream. Raychan impressed with authenticity and passion. An unforgettable day! Wholeheartedly recommended!

  Kabelo was the perfect guide to introduce us to his country and the Cape peninsula. The tour was really well planned and we got to see all the highlights at our own pace over the course of the day.   My wife and I had a wonderful day of wine tasting and lunch with Olivier in the Burgundy region. Olivier is very knowledgeable with his wine, providing us with heaps of information and very easy to get along with. We had a fun time chatting with him, covering a wide range of topics.   Ugnė ranks in the top one percent of tour guides I have had. Her English fluency is impeccable and she is an effective communicator, both before the trip and the day of the tour. Ugnė drove me to a number of villages associated with my ancestors over three non-consecutive days (booked two months in advance, with pick-up and drop-off at the hotel in Vilnius at the beginning and end of each day). We also visited Kernavė, where Ugnė discussed the history of medieval Lithuania. Prices are reasonable.

  Heliana was amazing from start to finish. She customized the tour for us, and even changed it to include a wine tasting at a very unique spot. She explained history and the culture of the areas we visited, which were Siena and San Gimignano. Along the drive between cities, she pointed out areas of interest and how they were relevant .   Based on previous customer reviews we booked Miyuki for three tours around Hokkaido and we are so pleased we did. Proffesional, courteous, fluent English and  extremely informative.   I cannot speak highly enough about Mike and his Full day American D-Day tour. Mike's knowledge of WWII history is impressive and he gave phenomenal account of stories and details, all in an entertaining manner. His van fit the 8 adults in our group comfortably, and we felt very well taken care of. He met us at our hotel in Bayeux, which was so convenient. Everyone person in our group learned so much and enjoyed the day. Do not miss out on this opportunity!!!
