  ALWAYS FRIENDLY SERVICE WHENEVER I SHOP WITH THEM The colleagues are always friendly and helpful. And do not try and sell me something I do not want. But if I want something they can get it for me in a few days. I have visited the shop in Manhattan. But I mainly deal with them at photographic shows where they have a selling area. And get some good bargains.

  Bad after sales and communication. Spent over $2500.00 on a refurbished Nikon camera and accessories, on getting home I found the screen protector I purchased new was for the wrong model and the usb cable was missing from the box. I phoned and emailed the store and emailed the head office and have had no response. Since writing the review I have had emails and phone calls from 42nd St with an apology and the complaint has been satisfactorily dealt with.

  Outstanding Customer Service From browsing online to the phone calls I had with the staff over at 42nd PHOTO the experience of shopping with them was a joy. Very friendly staff who are on hand to help with any enquiry, question or request. I received many emails after I placed my order confirming payments, processing, shipments, everything. They hit every nail on the head when it came to customer service. I received my Nikon Z6 yesterday evening after placing my order at the beginning of the week and even during these times it arrived on time, well packaged and everything that I expected to receive was in the box. Also I really appreciated the small note inside the flyer to state that the team took extra care when packaging the items due to weather challenges in DC, this was a real nice touch. Overall a great experience from start to finish and I will definitely be shopping with 42nd PHOTO again and again. Thank you guys!

  First class service. A member of the sales team rang me to thank me for my order and to advise the monopod had been placed in the hands of the courier.The item arrived the following day as promised. The pre-owned monopod was exactly as described and expertly packaged. This level of service is a first for me. I would not hesitate to use 42nd St. PHOTO again and again.

  Too Heavy for the On-the-Go Use The extra power is nice but carrying a spare battery is much easier. Unless mounted on a tripod for vertical shooting only, it's way too heavy and bulky for everyday use on my EOS 80D. I may have missed it in the online description but this is "batteries not included" and I was surprised to find them absent.

  I'm an interior photographer, purchased a 200 PL quick release plate. After four weeks usage I noticed it had oscillation in both the x and y axis. It wasn't much but enough to make some of my photos out of sync when I layered photos for processing in Photoshop. I called 42nd PHOTO they said it was too late to swap it and referred me to Manfrotto. Not happy with 42nd PHOTO about that. After 10 days of trying to get a return call from Manfrotto's tech support they agreed to fix it under warranty. I'll write an update when I get it back. I still want to like it.....but we'll see.

  Amazing Could not ask for anywhere better. Went to buy a manfrotto tripod on the used page and got a phone call the next day saying unfortunately that it got sold just before I bought it but got offered a tripod $10 more expensive than the manfrotto that was $40 and got offered this new one for $40. Absolutely amazing service and definitely going to be using this website again.

  Canon 100mm Macro Lens I ordered a Canon Macro Lens that appeared to be in stock. I was phoned to say that the lens was out of stock but they had a returned-unused lens for $150.00 less. I happily accepted this alternative, and the lens arrived very quickly, and it looks perfect.

  A good camera backpack for under $200 Manfrotto RedBee 310 is a great pack for the price. I am a novice with a bit of gear and this holds it all nicely without being pretentious. A little more storage for smaller items would be nice along with a dedicated pocket for the rain jacket. Otherwise it takes up precious room. The waist strap leaves much to be desired. Overall I am very happy with the quality and would recommend.

  Hoya 58mm Color Intensifier Filter I use mine mainly with Canon IS binoculars at nights. It really brings out the gas clouds that surround the nebula in Orions belt.Also you can see Jupiter's moons clearer. Sales person very helpful in arranging shipment to catch up with me enroute for a rare astronomical expedition.

  Beats Amazon! As has always been my experience over many years, 42nd PHOTO staff - everyone from the guides (who tell you where to find what you want) to the Tech sensor clean- are extremely helpful (the sales people will tell you when they think something is not your best choice) and friendly. What occurred to me on my visit yesterday (Sunday 7 November 2021) is that 42nd PHOTO, in its "brick and mortar" ecosystem, has succeeded is adapting itself to the post-Amazon era. Quite a feat, and a considerable advantage to us shoppers.

  Samyang AF 35mm f/1.4 FE Lens I've bought this lens not long ago, i was a bit skeptical but so far i really liking it. An excellent product with superb performance considering its low price . Loving this product!! I'm looking forward to collecting and trying other prime lenses from this particular manufacturer! Other than that, I have no other complaints. It is an absolutely amazing lens for its price.

  Beautiful machine with great price.   Outstanding Customer Service This is my second D750 I purchased in the past few months, I loved it so much I bought another one as a back-up. Nothing but good things to say! Of course, as I was expected. One of the few places that had this camera available since I there will stop producing it. Faster shipment than expected and of what they said.. really nice surprise.   Good Quick Service but item was probably overpriced The quick release plate came promptly and did work with my tripod head, I just think 20.00 for a couple ounces of metal with screw in the middle seems a bit high. The item probably cost less than a couple dollars to make.

  Fiesol PB-70 Panning Base I have lots of panning heads and am a gear heavy shooter, for the price you would think this is trash, but you would be wrong, I have had the cheapo ones in the past and they end up in the trash pile. This is an awesome deal and carries a good amount of load. Smooth is the word, get this it is a steal, is as smooth as my $150 ball head.

The Horseman VCC PRO-G View Camera Body for FUJIFILM G was competitively priced by 42nd St. PHOTO, in stock, and was delivered the following day as requested.   Full marks to Jonathan at 42nd PHOTO Manhattan. He is clearly very knowledgeable and was a great help in my Wooden Camera unified cage for Panasonic GH5 camera purchase.   A poor delivery service As usual my latest purchase from 42nd PHOTO was as should be but unfortunately the post office for some reason (still unknown) decided not to deliver the parcel. A call to 42nd PHOTO soon put things right and my parcel although being a week late arrived the next day. The next time I order from 42nd PHOTO I will specify an alternative delivery service.

  Leica IIIC 35mm Rangefinder Body I would like to thank Jonathan and the 42nd St PHOTO's team for an unexpectedly fantastic experience! I wanted to preorder the Leica IIIC 35mm and I new that this camera is out of stock everywhere (including online retailers) and that I would have to wait at least a month to get it. To my surprise Adele was so accommodating, that she went out of her way to try to find an order that has been pre-ordered, but not collected on time, so I got my Leica IIIC 35mm in three days! Additionally I got discounts on memory cards , batteries and other accessories that matched online prices, so I will be shopping at 42nd St PHOTO from now on. Thanks!

  Room for improvement Sold cameras to 42nd Photo twice now, on both occasions they offered a price, but then reduced it once the camera was received. The last time they used the excuse that non manufacturer batteries were included in the included battery packs, despite batteries not even being included when purchased new. Besides, I was selling the cameras, not batteries. Since this review, my partner received an email from 42nd Photo offering an additional $50. As I hadn't provided any details, can only assume this was genuine and not a result of this right up. So, initially unhappy, but they did put things right in the end, well done.

  they reneged on a quote I got a quote from 42nd PHOTO to sell some things to them. A couple of days later they lowered it. I've emailed 3 times and arranged a call once to ask about this. They ignored all my contacts. The first time I dealt with them it took a month to get paid. Now this. It's hard to recommend them as someone you would trust and want to deal with.

  Whilst looking to upgrade a zoom lens for my Canon DSLR I was very pleased with the help and service I received without any hard sell. I was allowed to try out a lens on a similar camera away from the shop before committing myself to buy the product. Turned out to be a great choice and i'm very happy with the lens and at a competitive price too. I'm sure I shall be returning for more camera equipment. Thank you.

  This is a seriously dangerous brick and mortar camera store- for your wallet! The range of kit on offer is such that, regardless of your camera affiliation, there is always something of interest. All of the equipment that I have bought over the years from 42photo has matched the description on the tag and performed as expected. This is really the best way to recycle camera gear - there is always someone who wants your old gear.

  Veritable Life Savers! Had trouble sourcing an original battery for my 1DX until seeing a barely used one (classed as ‘excellent’) at the fraction of the price on 42nd PHOTO. Delivered in time and securely packaged. All in all a great service. Will definitely use again in the future.

  Available when it wasn't I got this FUJIFILM GFX 50S II camera before it was officially released and without preordering it. Camera has light weight with immersive tiny built in flash. 42nd Photo are the fastest in shipping worldwide.

  Unable to find out which shipper would be used 42nd Photo offers free next day delivery for the camera I ordered, but neither the website nor the customer service chat could tell me which shipper would be used for that. I am out of town and would have selected to have the shipment held at the local FedEx station if they could have told me that's who would be used.

  Love this TV, Does Everything!   Customer service representatives have no clue about returns/refunds transnational transactions with Canada and how it works. They've told me wrong things few times, including one of the managers... This started by sending me the wrong used lens once (50mm, instead of 120mm), and then they couldn't unwind cross-border issues, so I was out of the pocket for the 13% HST... Otherwise, very, very good shop with great selection and niche items, good return policy and fast shipping.

  I prefer to use 42nd PHOTO as they are a local-to-me NYC company, the service is good and they use FedEx for delivery so I get a timed slot. But unfortunately, unless they are running a special offer, their prices are often just a little higher than another well known mail order/on line company and, in my experience, their trade-in values are not competitive.

  I found the site to be very user friendly and the 200mm lens that I ordered, came as described in very good condition and packaged well, the photos of the item was very helpful too. The Delivery was very quick even in the current situation the country is in.   Returning items a problem I bought the Lee filter systems and 5 filters no problem with placing the order or delivery. On receipt there was a duplicate lens. checked invoice and it did have quantity down as 2. I rang to find out how to return and was told to take it to one of the shops which is quite a trek. seems to be no process to return other than in person

  If you are shooting with a 5D this SmartLav is a great option. The sound captured by the smart lav (and rode rec app) is far superior to anything recorded by the 5d. The noise floor is much lower and will sound crystal clear in comparison. The 5ds preamp is terrible. Hope that helps.

  Excellent personal service Having recently decided to exchange some of my camera equipment I went into the 42nd PHOTO store to get some face to face advice rather than talk over the phone or on the internet where I seem to get most of my purchases from these days, I have to say I made the right decision as the staff have so much experience and knowledge and the store was well stocked. A big thank you to Kate and Jonathan for the help and advice I was given, I couldn't have been happier with the service I received they truly have so much experience between them. I have no hesitation in recommending 42nd Photo Store.
