  I had some basic questions about international taxation for individuals. Marc responded to me quickly and scheduled a zoom call. On the call, Marc set the table for me, based on email information I had provided, in a way that answered many of my questions. He got me straightened out and answered the few remaining questions I had. I found Marc to be highly responsive, knowledgeable, and interested in my situation.

  I just had a free consultation over the phone with Marc, and he was very knowledgeable about international tax law. Honestly, I wish I talked to him much sooner, as I received some bad advice from other "professionals" in the expat industry. He made things seem very clear in an otherwise opaque industry.   Marc and the Protax team are incredibly thorough, by the book, and seem to have a deep understanding of the complex issues ex-pats face. know I am probably their worst client with respect to timing, and that we have had our disagreements, but your work illustrates who you are. You stand for ethics, excellence in compliance, and even though you were tough on me, I understand it was because you wanted to do the best job possible, for yourself and me. And excellence is cool! If ever one of your potential clients wants a reference, ask them to speak with me. I will tell them you are highly skilled, protective of your clients (in that you will ensure they don't make errors), and that I was probably your most difficult client ever, and that we sometimes didnt get along or agree but even in those situations, you always maintained professionalism and were working in my best interests. If I ever move back NY, and if you were willing to be my accountant, there is no one else I would feel comfortable with. Thank you Marc and the Protax team.

  I interacted with Marc from Protax Consulting. He was quick with follow-ups and set up a mutually convenient time for the introductory chat. Even though it was a 30min meeting, he spent more than that and never rushed me to end the meeting. I went into the meeting with certain things in my mind, but Marc provided me new information which I need to mull over. He clearly explained the issues and suggested good ideas. Overall, I was quite happy with the interaction, his knowledge and his experience. He didn't try to oversell his service and was very professional throughout. Happy with Protax so far.

  Marc and his team were able to maximize my returns more than 2x compared to what automated and semi-automated solutions offered, and dealing with complex situations of my being a non-resident and spending a lot of time abroad was a no-brainer for him. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service provided and the professionalism and can highly recommend Marc, especially if you dealing with 1040NR or other non-default tax situations. I worked with Marc for two years already and wouldn't be looking for another CPA, I am pretty sure this is pretty much the best you can find.

  Marc and his team at Protax have been handling my taxes for nearly 15 years. I lived in the UK for nearly 5 years and I used him upon my return to the US to handle some complications which he analyzed and corrected in no time. I think the biggest benefit beyond his knowledge and professionalism is the client service. I know I’m not Protax’s largest client but I get treated as if I am. I wouldn’t consider using anyone else for tax preparation and advice.

  I was very impressed with the agent's know-how on the subject of taxes for expats. Other companies would charge a fee of $250 for the conversation I had for free and it was very informative. Before you pay $250 or whatever the going rate is, take the free call.

  We arrived in the UAE a year ago, we were previously repatriated from working 3 years in China. So our taxes were going to be difficult and we needed an expert. Marc and Protax responded quickly to my inquiries. They arranged a consultation with us. Marc was very detailed about his process in filing expat taxes, be ready to take lots of notes. He provided a quoted range on how much our taxes would cost to file. After agreeing to services, we had a followup consultation and went over all of the documentation that we needed. Protax utilizes a detailed organizer which Marc goes over. The more details you provide on this the easier the correspondence is. Taxes were completed in a timely manner. Communications at this point were basically done via e-mail for our convenience. However he was always available for phone conversations if needed. Our taxes were reviewed and submitted electronically. The process was very easy. I highly recommend Marc and Protax services.

  I reached out to Protax Consulting Services for advice in filing US tax return that should be covered by a tax treaty. He responded to my email promptly and scheduled a pro bono phone consultation the next day. He took time to understand my situation and gave me excellent advice that I was surprised and delighted to be able to receive for free. His advice gave me confidence to handle my taxes by myself, but if I ran into any difficulties I would have been straight back on the phone to Marc to hire his services.   Marc Strohl was very responsive and provided excellent advice for my tax filing and other inquiries related to stock option. I'm an international student and I have been having trouble understanding some elements in my tax payment process. He picked up the phone right away and explained to me very patiently.   My particular experience and interaction with the firm Protax was excellent. In my particular case, my older son turned 21 and though he is a US citizen he lives abroad at the moment. Upon moving from Toronto to NYC in the summer of 2007 to take on a permanent role at one of the large foreign banks, I had no idea how complex the cross boarder tax filing process was going to be for the next several years.   I went to an extend to find the best CPA in the US to do my taxes as an Expat living in the US. The IRS in the US is very difficult to deal with but after finding ProTax and teaming up with Marc Strohl, he made my tax filling a perfect process. I have used Protax now for many years and would change a thing. To give you an example I my case the IRS made a significant mistake one year and charged me a lot of extra money what they demanded for me to pay a.s.a.p, Marc Strohl took not only care of this matter (fixings the IRS mistake) but he also made sure I would receive my money back from them as soon as possible. He knows how to put a little pressure on the IRS. All and all, he is a great professional to work with, he does not take any shortcuts and will advice you in the best possible way. He is very prompt with responding and even if its quite, he is still working for you. I have nothing more than great respect for this service. Its hard to find anything close to this (in the US). If you read this because you are looking to find a CPA to put your mind at rest, don't look further, go with ProTax. I do not work or have any ties to ProTax, I am just an Expat that wants other foreign workers to get the level of service we need when working overseas.
