4- it was great, wouldn't recommend a 1st time taker of the course not as in-depth knowledge as other courses I have taken, I guess that just how the course has changed over the years. For someone who works directly in the environment everyday its awesome, current updates and recommendations for practice is nice to see and hopefully incorporate into practice, or at least make better informed suggestions.

An excellent learning experience. Relaxed. Informative. I was able to keep my attention throughout the whole session. Chris’ stories helped me to remember some of the details. The virtual course was great, in fact I found it more useful than in person. The instructor was very knowledgeable and eager to teach. We had the chance to do Sims that were very useful without the stress related to performance in person. I feel like I learned just as much but it was very convenient for my busy schedule and interesting to get the input from professionals from all over Canada which we don't get the chance often. Amazing, such an excellent experience, with an experienced instructor. These types of courses are informative and no stressful learning. As an adult learner this suits me well. So many take aways from the last time I took it in person. 1 day I can do, but the last time I took the course it was about 2 days and had to be a way from home. A great way to take ACLS! I found that it was less stressful then the traditional in class version. Not having the intimidating mega-codes, it was more calm and allowed me to better retain the information. Still very interactive and all necessary information was covered and taught. I am a first time course taker for both PALS and ACLS and the experience I had with Chris and his teaching methods have been outstanding. While covering the course material that is mandatory he uses his life experience to bring context to whatever topic he is teaching on. This better helped me to understand and retain the information he was providing. Both courses I attended were done without fear of being judged for what I did or didn't know or my experience/ educational level. I would highly recommend Canadian Heart Services to anyone looking for a comfortable, accepting, and knowledge rich environment for learning.

This course exceeded my expectations. I retained more information from this course than I have from attending in person in the past. The fact I could take it virtually allowed me easier access to the course from a location of my choosing, promoting education for health care professionals. This was my favourite ACLS course yet, because of two factors: 1) it being virtual, and 2) the instructor. The virtual aspect takes off the anxiety of having to perform in a skit, which would normally soak up all of my mental focus, leaving me less able to actually learn, and more inclined to just regurgitate something and forget it 5 seconds later. The instructor explains things very well, and does the "skits" himself (while quizzing us on what to do next), and so you get a sense of how things should actually go. (One complaint I've often had about ACLS courses in the past is that you only end up seeing the attendees doing the skit, aka more often than not, people who have never done it in real life, and so it ends up being a very unrealistic version of how things should go.) And he gives very practical information too which is great. (Ex.: How long meds take to prep or how to actually prep them). Overall, a very useful course. I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed it! Chris was very thorough. Only thing I would probably add is more ECG results and maybe the differential look in the monitor so we can have at least a basic understanding of what a Sinus brady or SVT look like?

This is a great course! It was my first time to take ACLS and I was afraid that it would be boring to sit for a whole day to learn. I also thought it would be hard. But I was wrong. The instructor is very knowledgeable with the material such that he is able to make it understood by a beginner. He is a great communicator and made learning so much fun and at the same time ensuring that you are learning very important concepts of supporting life. Doing it from the comfort of your home was also great. In a nut shell, I would rate the course and the instructor as EXCELLENT! And I would highly recommend this course.

If it wasnt for this online course, I probably would not even be able to learn the ACLS material. This is alot more interactive than some in-person classes. The instructor was funny, had alot of knowledge, gave lots of examples, & the information stuck to my head since he explained it in a logical way. I would reccomend this over any in person course for sure.

Loved it.. Learned lots.. Presenter was energetic and interesting, time just flied by. The important sequence with the reasoning was always in the equation, made it real and with sense. Efficient and pertinent information review with increased details made me even more enjoy the course. The cases were really interesting and made me think a lot. Medication changes with time for the ACLS with the instructions were awesome and appreciated. I would definitely take another course with this presenter. Very well organise and knowledgeable. Chris Hardcastle was the instructor for my virtual ACLS course and I am so grateful for the experience. The teaching provided was clear, interesting, and taught in ways that made learning easy. I was very anxious to take the course but being able to do so in the comfort of my own home, Chris’s personality/ skills as an instructor made me feel so much better. I found communicating with the group during the course was not an issue at all, and the material was easily accessible. I would highly recommend this!

Chris Hardcastle made this course very enjoyable and informative. I have taken acls before and found it to be intimidating and difficult to follow. Having an online environment helped my learning because I was comfortable. Chris was able to deliver all the information and I was able to retain it much easier than in person. This was great! The videos of real life kids was so helpful. Chris' knowledge and experience along with his teaching were so helpful! I was not sure how it would feel/be doing this course virtually, but Chris has an amazing set up which worked great. He kept things interesting and moving, appropriate short and sweet breaks, managed time really well. Definitely recommend this course! And as someone who lives rurally, it is great to be able to avoid the travel that most courses require.

I greatly enjoyed the virtual experience from my den at home. I'm a respiratory therapist who previously worked in anesthesia and but I have never taken PALS before. I've completed NRP and ACLS. I needed to complete the PALS program to work with an anesthesiologist in a pediatric dental office. I did some pre-reading online and then a few days before I reviewed the Provider Handbook and algorithms produced by Chris. I feel very comfortable after this day and learned some practical aspects.

Great experience with Chris. Loved having the online version and the interactive case studies. I learned better doing it this way as opposed to in person due to the inclusivity and explanations provided. Even though it is a longer course this is the first time in a while where I was able to pay attention and did not lose interest throughout. Will definitely use again when I have to recertify!

I was very surprised at how effective this virtual course was. I have been doing anesthesia/residency/medicine for over 20 years and this was the best ACLS course I have taken, which ironically was virtual. It was very engaging, educational, evidence based and it was clear Chris wanted us to understand and know what was important to be able to apply this in our vocations and it was targeted at all the different healthcare roles from physician, to resident, to nurse and first responder. It was interactive, not boring and the best part is that I was able to do it in the comfort of my own home to stay with my young kids in the next room! Brilliant, the studio has everything we need to go through the scenarios and the quizzes were well written. Thank you! Highly recommend.

Virtual ACLS course. This was better and more interactive and engaging than in person ACLS courses I've taken. I already know how to compress a chest, ventilate and work the machines. What I needed and got was very comprehensive learning experience and feel better equipped than ever before.

Being able to access a virtual ACLS was integral to my ability to successfully and expeditiously complete an ACLS. It provided me a safe learning environment in which I could learn and comprehend. My last ACLS was in a classroom of physicians who intimidated and redirected the algorithms so much to their "practice" I didn't leave with the confidence to complete the certification test because I hadn't learned the actual content. This gave me the access to synchronous learning, safety and time to learn and to demonstrate my learning. I finally grasp acls and can finally start developing my skills.

10 times better than my 3 in person ACLS courses I have taken. Excellent teacher :) He went in proper order and explained things in a way that we could understand even if being out of practice for a bit.

It was an excellent course, very well organized and well presented. Instructor was incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining, made the content make sense and kept it interesting. The digital cardiac monitor to see in real time was very helpful. The online format made it much more accessible and was set up in a way that I didn't feel like I missed out on anything.

I was extremely stressed about this since it has been 5 years since I worked in the ED, and needed this course to go back. Taking this online was THE BEST!!! Chris is an extremely knowledgeable instructor and presenter. I signed up for PALS while on lunch break because I want to be able to take it online. It's convenient and works well with a busy life being able to take it at home. Thanks again for this and I look forward to taking PALS online with Chris.

Great experience learning, for someone with minimal acute care experience I was able to understand the course with no issue. The virtual delivery option was also great as I have difficulty sitting in long lectures so this allowed me to stand during the lectures without disrupting others. The way the course was delivered allowed me to stay interactive and involved with the group even though it was virtual - overall well done, would recommend!

Chris was really amazing at explaining ACLS. I was worried this would be overwhelming, confusing and hard. Chris explained everything, gave us great examples and answered our questions. I love that I was able to do this from home, no travel. This is a great opportunity for so many people to be able to learn. This was worth my time and money today. I feel good going into a emergency situation knowing we can be successful! Thank you so much Chris for spending your Saturday with us!

Best ACLS to date and I have done these for the last 38 years every 2 years. Last one was a hybrid course- have online and half in classroom- this was much better- real cases- great guidance with ILCOR recommendations and opportunities to ask any question. Stress plays a key role in learning and this approach in my opinion reduced my stress level which I believe benefits retention of learning. I have a PHD in medical education with a focus on how to support best learning- how do we help HCPs follow gold standards in emotional moments- courses like this are critical to encouraging HCPs to enrol and learn the material and retain the material.
