  Superb service and professional assistance from the sales team. We considered asking for a refund, due to a significantly lower price for the product on a Nikon that had been downpriced. I called 42nd photo and they very politely offered to match the offer by reimbursing the difference. Would definitely recommend anyone to take their business to this company.

  Excellent service and an alluring collection of photo equipment, 42nd Photo St is your one-stop go-to destination for all things photographic/ commercial & consumer, or pro audio/video. The staff are always extremely helpful, and their assortment is one of the most comprehensive within the CBD and arguably all of New York. They also offer second-hand equipment at a discount rate, which is perfect for the cameraman on a budget. Placing quotations with them is also a good idea, as you may receive assistance with discounts if your order quantity is sufficient. Definitely stop by - if not only for the free coffee!

  Such an awesome shop. Every photographers dream shop. They have a great mix of high-end products available. From camera backpacks, to lenses, lens caps, underwater cameras, drones, DSLR' s and much more. They do camera repairs as well. Lovely layout of the shop. Great place to look around even if you aren't buying and if you are, you will probably find what you are looking for.

  Quite legendary in that it was unveiled here many moons ago. It is still my favorite photographic place as I receive very good service here. Friendly and staff with plenty of experience in the field. So many digital & film cameras, camcorders, video recorders, lenses, bags and more. Love the idea that you can try out a lens in-store. Just bring your camera and try out the different lenses that they have out. Need photos done for pro touches, 1st floor does it quickly. This photographic center is now even better after it went through a building upgrade.

  Very helpful. We had forgotten our Fujifilm camera battery charger at home, 24 hours of flying away :-) . The staff didn’t have one in stock, but opened up a new camera kit and sold us the charger. Very helpful indeed!

  What a gem find! I was looking for a Format Frames & Function Carriers for my studio and called this store. The friendly and knowledgeable staff were incredibly helpful. They price matched the item and I ended up booking a lesson on how to use my Linhof Bellows Support which I bought elsewhere! To add to the pleasure of the experience, they have free parking for customers. Nestled in New York heartland. Wow! Do yourself a favor and just give these guys a call.

  This is the first time I've used 42nd Photo Street really. I ve bought some photography kit here ,but nothing that expensive. So, I decided to but a prosumer waterproof drone, extremely cool bit of kit! I even got $70 off giving me further a bang for my buck!! Jacob the manager is a legend! Went above and beyond the call of duty when an issue emerges and resolved it within a day or hours and he takes time with his customers! Great customer service here. Jacob from 42nd Photo Street NY is a super-store! And the DJI Mavic 2 Pro is a compact and perdurable drone with the image quality of a decent DSLR camera.

  Finally I landed back to a climate more congenial to my cold stony soul. Pleasant customer service with a rich seam of knowledge on their subject. Soothes my soul. They will price match locally and attempt online price matching. A little disappointed that they didn't tell me I could get $100 cash back off my camera after purchase but I was not registered online before purchase he told me that he assumed I knew. Pricing is a little high but shop around and they will price match.

  Stupendously expensive if you're used to check other sellers online but without doubt the best place to buy camera gear in New York. The staff are generally very well-informed, and can shepherd you in the right direction. They have a nice range of cameras and lenses, including the ultra-high-end cameras like Hasselblad H6D-100c. Cameras are available to try out in store and staff are more than happy to let you try out lenses from the cabinets if you ask. I've never had a disappointing experience in here. They also have a decent selection of lenses,binoculars, accessories and memory cards. Film printing is done here and is ultra-high-quality but again is a bit expensive than other places online and on the pharmacy.

  Mark and staff are always extremely helpful and great to deal with. I don't go beyond them for my camera equipment. Anytime I've bought something I've been asked would I like a cup of tea or coffee, which makes the experience much more of kinship and more than making a "quick buck". Very reasonably priced. Couldn't recommend enough!

  I used to shop here for Hasselbalds. Exceptional service and attention to detail, as well the top brands and equipment for photographers. The brick & mortar is a little off the charted pavement in the high street, but it's absolutely worth a visit for any photographer; aspiring or professional.

  Firstly I love the Preorder & Request Stock Alert feature on the website. I wish more websites would learn to use this feature as its convenient for any quick answers on a new release or scarce product. Secondly, my order only took a day to arrive. Narrowing to your choice in person with knowledgeable employees to steer you in the right direction was a much more game-changing experience than ordering expensive equipment online, based on reviews. There's so much information out there, but these guys really pare it down to the bone and help you find what you're looking for hinged on your needs and budget, even if you're not quite sure what it is exactly. They have an extensive range of products and accessories, all Video production gear, including cameras, lenses, tripods and support systems, pro audio, and much more. . However, the most outstanding and salient feature of this invigorating place are the staff. Professional, welcoming, kind and win-win approach they aren't just exceptional service, not only are they accomplished photographers but many of them are creatives too. This gives them an insight that few have enabling them to offer the best advice and recommendations. A little over two years ago I was referred to 42nd Photo St when shopping for my first entry-level consumer camcorder. Not only have I returned several times to purchase more equipment including professional broadcast video cameras, lenses, carry cases, filters and tripods, but my wife who is also an artist, now calls 42nd Photo St . A huge thank you to the entire team for your assistance, insights, recommendations and discounts. Because of you, I have been successful undertaking more complex and higher quality jobs.   Short of getting my Olympus Tough TG-6 for free, i'm not sure i could have had a more freshening experience. Dealing with Jon was a golden opportunity. Being my first waterproof/rugged i was looking for advisory opinion. I gave my budget and needs and was shown exactly what i was after. Spent about 1 1/2 hr in the shop and i could have stayed longer. If you're after a tailored experience with a prudent expert photographer, do not hesitate to head in store and ask for Jon. I certainly will not go anywhere else for all my undersea imaging needs. Cheers Jon!

  42nd Photo service is the best-in-the-high-streets! My Sony ZV-1 camera along with Vlogger accessory toolkit arrived within one day in perfect, eco-friendly packaging. I forgot to feed the voucher number for the manual guide that they sent for free, so gave them a call before the item was shipped and asked if it was still time to add the guide, the man who answered said the camera had already been sent but they send the guide with no extra cost through express post. What more could you want? I look forward to purchase my camera upgrades from them now. Very very happy with my Sony point& shoot and the service from 42nd Photo Street.

  42photo provide really friendly and knowledgeable insights for anyone buying Night & Astrophotography instruments, always happy to answer questions or talk about astronomy gear. I've bought several telescopes and binoculars here and had excellent service from James, Mike and the Jon, whether sorting deliveries, the odd surprisingly good deal, or just straightforward purchases. I would happily recommend them for anyone looking for astrophotography goods, whether beginner or more advanced. I'll certainly be back in there again soon enough!

  I contacted 42nd Photo by phone, and was met by a friendly and welcoming voice. I spoke with a man named James, and he was thoroughly helpful in explaining things to me on a technical angle. I didn't feel pressured, talking with him on the phone, even though I felt kind of bad taking up more of his time than I should have. After the phone call ended, I had more questions, which I asked via the website contact link. He not only remembered talking on the phone with me, but answered my questions promptly. Very professional and very helpful. After having made my purchase, my 5 star rating stands. Very fast shipping, excellent quality product, and top notch communication. Will purchase from here again. Even those who have been unfairly rude have been helped to the max. possible. 42nd Photo were the first to introduce the longest warranties on amateur gear in New York, for the benefit of all photo amateurs. They forced other importers over nearly 40 years to not only follow this path but also forced them to significantly reduce their prices. 42nd Photo seem to have the largest amateur stocks in New York. They are still trying to force some competitors to teething harder on the warranty repair service front...

  10 out of 5 stars! I wanted to buy an Olympus E-PL6 from them and i called in and told them when i would be coming in, they ordered in the wrong camera (It was a similar one) so when i came in we both realised the mistake so i had to wait a few more days. When i came in again i got the choice of a small discount or 2 accessories for the inconvenience which was wonderful! Oh and they also ordered in the right scope that time. Overall the customer service great and i'll be sure to shop with them again 😁

  Found them to be very helpful. They have spent hrs on the phone with me answering all my questions regarding a Canon G3 X. They have beaten everyone's prices and added free post. Doesn't get any better than that. Delivery is super fast. If you show them respect and talk nice they will look after you. If your a return customer they remember you and take care of you. Anything other than that they don't need you. Good on them keep up the good work.

I've bought several telescopes and cameras here and had excellent service from James, Jonathan and the others, whether sorting deliveries, the odd surprisingly good deal, or just straightforward purchases.   Although I have never stepped foot in a the 42 Photo store, the service I received via the email was 5 star. The staff were always extremely friendly and able to give the right advice to us as novices. My daughter recieved the first Celestron Star Sense Explorer the very next day that it arrived in the country. I will shop at 42nd Photo again and surely rely on their sage advice.

  I was there today for their Customer Appreciation Event. As we queued outside with the others, more customers were making a beeline for the store. The staff provided free drinks and candies for all who were outside and, with the chilling cold we experienced that morning, it was a shot in the arm.   I get all my rentals here all the time for both still and video camera. James & Jonathan in the rentals wing always make the visit a blissful one and they are both knowledgeable and very helpful. Since I shoot in video as well, I sometimes find myself in that side of the store. Whenever I do, Alex is always there to help with any questions I might have. Really cool dude and knows the ins and outs of his workmanship. If you need gear or have questions, this location has you covered. I really enjoyed when the brands came in and allowed us to try our their different camera bodies. Please do things like that more frequently if possible!

  Always an amazing service from 42nd Photo! In the past, James assisted me in finding the correct camcorder for an event that was being held that same day.   The only camera organization I really like. I've been to 42nd Photo a few times and this outlet is ahead of it's time. And most experiences have been smooth to exhilarating. I have found this store sales reps to be quite friendly to anyone trying to get a start in this business. But there's a strong sense of 'I scratch your back, you scratch mine' here. However I have faced many condescending problems at big box places. All times I have been in 42nd Photo, ive dealt with a different person each time, and had the same experience each time. The sales reps are very polite, and cheerful. That to me is very important. If not for that, I'd just do all my shopping online. I just wish they would stop trying to stick me with expensive UV filters at the end of a lens purchase.

But i have to say, we really appreciated the assistance and help we got from James Powers.   I live in the interior of NYC. I found the camera (second-hand Canon 6D) listed by 42nd Photo on their webshop, reached out to them over the phone, after one email I was sent a link for the online order. Three days later it arrived in the mail. The item was listed as used but you could have tricked me, they packaged it up and it was delivered to me in pristine condition with all accessories and packaging.   I came in with an aged dirty camera that I fished out of my grandparents mountanious paraphernalia and I Googled how to use it, after they tested it to make sure it would work for me. They also suggested a roll of film for me, and gave me an appraisal for the camera with the filters and lenses I had if I choose to rescucitate it eventually.
